I'll be done with RTK1 (new edition with 2200 kanji) in a few days.

From all the information I could gather, I built this rough plan for actually learning the language past that:
- don't do RTK3 and add kanji as they come instead because new edition RTK3 isn't as useful upfront anymore
- get a grasp of the language's structure with Tae Kim's Grammar Guide (it's free free!)
- loosen the rigid learning structure in general and try to read/sentence mine anything that seems interesting enough, do passive/active listening etc.
- learn a minimum amount of vocab every day with anki and something like 2k/6k/10k core

Is this plan viable or could I do something more efficiently?

All those kanji are common and you should commit to learning them right away. The vocab itself is not useful but Anki doesn't teach you vocab it reaches you readings. The vocab they pick is silly sometimes but it helps you chunk the information. Learning to readings together helps you recall the other one easier. That being said you should drop Anki when you can start reading at a decent speed. If your 2k into core I would drop it and make a mining deck and then drop that when ever you feel like it.

Most important thing to know is it's all about vocabulary size, so it's all about Anki. Use it every day, better to go light with the number of new words a day than to give up, it needs to be sustainable, I say aim for 30 minutes a day. Don't be afraid to suspend words that are hard or not useful (Like typewriter).

Also pick up a hobby of watching Anime now and then, always with subs, and always listen to the language and not just read.

At the very least, learn katakana, which is the language used to write and pronounce English words.

Learning a language is worth it even if you never use it, it's very interesting and a fun challenge.

>what about native speakers? do they know all readings?
they are all borderline analphabets even after going to and finishing college after 18 years of non-stop studying and drilling. a nip can have a superior IQ of 125+ and still fucking suck at Nihonogo.

Japanese is one of the most retarded languages in the world because it is a modified clusterfuck Lego set built on 1000+ year old Chinkaboo sentiment for subhuman dog eating insectoids. Honestly, what were those god damn island monkeys thinking?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJNxPRBvRQg

I used to be like any other optimistic weeb, who, one day decided to learn this shit because of my deep weeb respect for their retarded, repressive commie-like culture, their obscene sex deviation, their quirky mangos and because I wanted to play those niche nip jrpgs on my ps2 and feel really hardcore.
It started out all fine and dandy. I had the kana down in less than a week. Easy-peasy I thought. You are gonna blaze through this shit and 海賊王に俺はなる.
Then came the kanji. 木. Hey, a tree! 山. Hey, a mountain! Heck yeah, this is easy! The characters even sort of looks like trees and mountains.

*RECORD SCRATCH*

Wait a minute... This isn't tennis! This is anal sex!!

And that's how I learned that for everything you were supposed to learn, you had to learn at least twice as much. So you either drop it now, or you accept it for what it is and just mind numbingly brute force your way through hell. Because once you decide to learn this retarded language you don't just drop it after 1-2 years, since everything you did up to that point is like flushing a turd down the shitter.

DO.NO.LEARN.JAPANESE. unless you swore an oath on your own life to see it through to the bitter end of learning at least 20k words, 10k kanji and their respective on and kun readings.

Yes not if I continued as I was, I spent more time looking up kanji than reading. Every time I hit a word I didn't know it took 5 - 10 minutes to look it up via radicals sometimes longer which is a waste of time, it's much better having furigana to prompt me and more often than not the furigana give me a kick and I realise I know the word just not the kanji which means saving it to my anki deck takes 5 seconds not 5 minutes allowing me to actually focus on reading and not more kanji grinding which doesn't actually teach you Japanese.

I finally started trying to read and got destroyed immediately. How does anyone do this? I'm trying to read 君の名は but just in the first couple sentences there are already a bunch of similes and metaphors. My grammar isn't good enough to understand this without pasting entire sentences into google translate. Are there any light novels where the author just says what they mean?

if your grammar isn't good enough, work on it

no point in reading if you cant understand any of it

or just watch more anime

isn't it just using the kanjistrokeorder font and then colorizing it?

that font is old enough that it all should have been verified by now.

>> No.20591812

>>20591795
no
the kanjistrokeorder font is a manually edited font based on kanjivg whose creator for some reason decided to apply corrections directly to the font instead of applying them to kanjivg and getting kanjivg updated

kanjivg has a lot more information, like the lexical meaning of individual parts of kanji, and the strokes are stored in the correct direction and order instead of being arbitrary outlines, and it sees corrections that sometimes kanjistrokeorders doesn't get
