It wasn't lag, but I could actually notice the difference between pressing down and my character actually moving down. Much as I hate to admit it, most of my combos aren't muscle memory yet, and I rely on reacting to the hit noises which just doesn't work with noticeable delay.

It's generally not advised in the corner since I can punish, but on netplay you don't have bad chances at all teching out and just blocking with the delay. akiha's j2c ender and hisui's j2bb ender have a strange teching timing, and mash tech tends to not work. Press A while tapping direction before, not exactly at, the char hits the ground. So about when the char is midway through falling. It's been done consistently in 4~5 delays, just gotta get used to the awkward timing.
