To be honest I'm not sure if any doll busts out there are silicone. My wersaze bust will shrink any vinyl it touches for a long period of time, which makes me think it's acetone based and is not stable/slowly gassing out over time, hence TPE.
Then again iirc you can't make TPE without some industrial type factory setup... unlike silicone which you can make molds of and pour yourself.

Azone Kanojo was produced early 2012. Mine has been in her default costume for nearly all of that time. So this is what 7 years in all black Azone clothing does. Actually amazing considering what some clothes do in a few hours, so it's a testament to Azone quality.

Embarrassing story, but I bought my first girl around when I was 18 and had been working for a while to save up some money to buy one of my own. For two years until I joined the army I kept my girl in my room under the paper thin pretense that she was my mother's we had agreed to keep it in my room. As stated I am not very knowledgeable on hair styles, as far as I was aware the flat fringe and horizontally cut sidelocks ranging somewhere between ear and shoulder length with longer hair across the back is what constituted a hime cut. There's obviously a wide range of variation from both stylistic decisions and the hair type of the individual girl or woman wearing it, but I'm not aware of any other broad requisite for the style.

Doubt it. Even squiggles are appreciated if it's of someone special. Some of my favourite artwork is a couple sketches and an oil painting made by a young girl I know, of the OCs my dolls make corporeal. She might be a great artist one day.

People on 4chan can be brutally honest, and sometimes it hard to swallow, but it's an honest sort of critique (unless they're obviously trolling.) The way I take it is, if someone took the time out of their day to reply to something I've posted with a pointer to improve, it's worth it to consider what they have to say. And so to you, I say to keep drawing! Again and again, practice whatever parts you hate most. Hands, figures, poses, every little bit, even if it's the same thing in different poses, is building the foundation for you to get to where you feel you want to be. Good luck!

That doll is probably over 12 years old now. Vinyl will discolour over time. It can be mitigated with correct care, but much like with humans, aging is ultimately unavoidable. So the head has discoloured at a different rate to the body, likely due to different lengths of time exposed to sunlight, and different material compositions.

It's normal and to be expected. Most of us here are newer owners and twitter photographers would avoid using an old, yellowed doll, so we don't get exposed to the reality of being in the hobby for a long time.

You then ask yourself what you value - the doll itself as an object you treasure, or the character you've laid over it, with the doll just being the means to make it corporeal. Then you either keep an old, yellowed doll or replicate your character onto a newer body.

I got a $20 plastic lens. Now I kind of want to try other cheap low quality equipment.

The camera angle and lighting are bad, that's her original body she came with and she is a DD Yumi whom I've loved for years and was my first girl and is the queen of the entire group lol.

I dont know why but sometimes her face looks more yellow than it really is. Shes always been around non smoke homes. I've been thinking about cleaning her head up a little bit but without hurting the original faceup. But yea, she is an older girl. Yumi was released in 2006. Volks' new thing with the f3 seems to be to leave them loose. So you can "decide for yourself" on how tight you want the joints.

Comes across as lazy to me, but my f3 MDD was loose like that too and I had to tighten all of the screws on the frame and then reassemble. Then it was fine.

When in doubt on wedging, warm it up a bit with a hair dryer like it says. It's intimidating to feel like you're pulling a part too hard or such, but you get used to it. The vinyl is pretty durable. I had to remove the knee from the thigh on mine like 4-5 times, it became less scary after a bit.

I've noticed that in the videos I've watched on doll dis/assembly, the body fits very close to the skeleton. On my doll, I there is a ton of room between the body and the skeleton, literal inches of space. Is that a function of the new DDIII-f skeleton, or did something go wrong on my end?

Thank you anon. It's honestly pretty embarrassing, it's just the joint where the legs attach, but it's given me a headache since the day I unboxed her. I took her out, and a leg fell off. I put a leg back on, and the next move I make, one or both of them pop off.

Since this started I've broken this entire doll down, tightened screws, and put her back together again, but this one part of the body seems to be impossible to work around. I'm thinking of going to the hardware store to find a similarly-sized dowel tomorrow to trim down- it's worth a shot, right?

The skeleton moves around inside of the body a lot too. it's been hard to line the pieces in the torso and waist up. I feel like I've gotten the legs on a few times now, but they just come right off again.

I just checked on my Jeanne who's also a DDf3 and yeah this is much more annoying now than on the old DD3 body. I had to guide the foot with the peg in first, then while holding that firmly in place press the other foot in. And when they both seemed to kinda be on I pushed hard on both sides of the legs at the same time. Then and only then would both feet stay on.

Hmm. I don't have this particular body (or an f3) but I've read that a lot pf people are having issues with the hips because the peg is awkwardly floating in the middle. Apparently if you fit it together properly and push the legs together it should make/you should feel a noticeable click when it locks in place and it should become stable. It takes a weight off my shoulders that I'm not the only one with this issue. I'm still having trouble getting them both to stay on, and at this point if Volks will work with me I might just see if I can send this body back for an older-style DD3 or something. What got you into this hobby, anons? I never thought I'd get into them whatsoever, but something about the beauty and the charm I found in the photography drew me in, and now I cant imagine my life without them. I know it's a niche sort of thing and a lot of people misunderstand it, but I really do think a lot of artistry goes into everyone's dolls and how they present them, in addition to the actual craftsmanship of the modeling and outfit design and everything else, too. It's a wonderful creative outlet for me... and everything being super cute is a bonus.

And don't sell yourself short, either. I thought to myself a lot of things about this hobby before I got sucked into it myself. That it's too much attention to detail for me to maintain my dolls, or that the amount of work to get a perfect photo is impossible without a gorillion dollars in gear. I'm still learning a lot and I'm the most basic bitch photographer out there, but I'm having fun doing it, and doll upkeep isn't nearly as troublesome as it seemed at first. It's calming to focus on brushing out their hair or changing clothes.

You'll develop skills and a style as you go along and practice more. I'm getting there, too. I hope I can see your doll one day, if you ever decide to get one.

(The pricetag is the big killer for me, I started with Azone Pure Neemos since they're similarly adorable but smaller and cheaper by far. But it's not an impossible goal to save up for a Dollfie/Smartdoll/etc, it just takes time. Good luck!)

That's a big part I guess, there's also photography and stuff. They're just really nice dolls, kind of a similar appeal to anime figures and the like but bigger, better posing, more customization, etc.

Some of us play around with light to mild eroticism and that is fine if not to everyone's taste. But much more than that treads on thin ice, even around here.

To explain using an example, the doll fuckers are to us, what the cloppers are to the Brony fandom. Most Bronies are a bit eccentric maybe but ultimately harmless people. I know a couple and they are genuinely decent guys/girls(yes). They watch and enjoy a children's show, I play with dolls - we have a mutual understanding not to disrespect each other's interests, and we all get along well.

But then there's the overtly sexualised aspect of both hobbies that do show up from time to time. Understand it's not the norm and generally not accepted outside of the niche circles it originates in.

I can't have children of my own so my dolls are surrogates. I play dress ups and take pictures, but in my case I also talk to them - they listen to me bitching about customers at work a lot... I also give them personalities, backgrounds, and think up stories of their day-to-day life. Each one has a unique personality, they've all borrowed bits of mine, both good and bad.

You get a lot more out of this hobby if you're introverted, and can easily daydream.

Gentlemen, my first ever doll finally arrived after 3 long month of shipping! And as I promised I post photo of my girl here!
It was weird at first to see doll not on the photo but before your very eyes.
I already got some clothes for her but I'm not too sure if they match well... That outfit might looked better in my mind when I was buying parts for it.. Of course I have her default clothes but I don't want to open them yet
I'm also not sure if I put wig right, it was pretty hard to get it on her but somehow I managed to put it when I tried from behind the head. I also bought a wig cap but It didn't arrived yet. I'm a little worried if this dark wig will leave stains fast without it.
Anyway I'm really happy right now and I look forward to all the time I will spend with my girl from now on!!!

Wigs, especially properly sized, can be difficult at first to put on. And yes, you were perfectly fine putting it on from behind. I do that more often then not as well. My tip is, with her in your lap facing away from you, reach your fingers into the wig cap and stretch it a little and then begin to put the front very far forward on her head, like around her forehead and eyebrows. Then begin pulling the wig back and down at the same time. There's kind of a sweet spot when it slips on. Then you just need to turn her around and straighten it out.
- I hope that makes sense, I'm sorry I'm not that great at explaining it better.

Also, she looks lovely, and I love the little bunny shirt, but her hair desperately needs to be brushed. I suggest using those brushes with the little nobs on the end so the hair doesn't get caught on the bristles.

Also there was one thing that got me worried when I opened box. Picture related. There was something like white paint mark on my girls thigh and feet. It comes of when wipe it and I removed majority of it (some are really hard to wipe and I don't want to use too much force) so it's not a big problem but still got me bit worried. Not normal. First pic gives me the impression that this doll sat nearby while the owner painted other stuff. Except the heel pic has me stumped. I can't think of a scenario that would result in that unless they got it really dirty/sticky/messy and they used something like talcum powder or baking soda to help transfer the stains off. Yes stains. You don't need to put any thought into it.

The fact that it's not on the face or in the hair is a good thing. head was probably protected, or the body is just a trashier spare the owner gave you instead.

Anywho, except from the face don't be afraid of using solvents. It's just bare vinyl.

Hey everyone. I’ve been a long time lurker on these these threads and been meaning to ask a few questions regarding custom clothes and such, but felt it would be better to first provide some content and introduce my girls. So here are my 3 of my girls: Anya to the left, Emilia on the right, and Maki in the center.
Emilia also has a stand, but it broke a few days ago and I’m still trying to fix it, so I took this picture and then made her sit down for safety reasons.
I also have an Azone Jubei and Rem, and while I do love them both, specially Jubei since she was my very first doll, I have to admit I got them second hand off Mada as some sort of introduction to the hobby and to figure out how I could customize my own girl.
Please excuse my poor photography skills, all I had was my phone and lighting could be much better, I think.
But anyway! Hope you like how my girls look and feedback is greatly appreciated.
Side note: Emilia’s hair is a nightmare to fix! But I think she’s beautiful anyway.

Crazy Eyes is here, folks. I'll post photos in a minute, but I need you guys to know that the story just gets deeper with her. She came to me in a Wreck It Ralph box covered in clear packing tape, tied down to a big piece of cardboard by three different ribbons, with a bag on her head and wearing nothing but a bath robe. There was a paper parasol in the box for some reason, along with what I'm assuming are her original eyes and wig. The only hands she possesses are frozen into fists.

Her crazy metallic eyes were taped into her face with scotch tape.

I was going to name her Sophie, but I'm also tempted to name her Eris after the goddess of chaos, because everything about her is chaotic. What do you think?

I won’t deny that I got most of my stuff directly from Volks because I felt it was a “safer” choice, if that makes any sense. Also got somewhat of a bad experience from a set I got from Cool-Cat that had some very noticeable quality issues like tearing and fabric de-coloration out of the box. Thankfully, the store was kind enough to refund me after I made a complaint with picture of the items.
