the key point is that while some words can be written as a single kanji it is still the case that in general many individual kanji cannot represent words
if you want to get into definitions bullshit 何 is a representation of a word but なに is a representation of the same word and 何 interpreted as a kanji does not encapsulate that its just a placeholder by convention

Learning the readings is completely useless, and I guarantee that if you ever make it to fluency you will find that that set of memories has become redundant, and you will have built up a totally separate way of recalling the same information.
I know you probably think that learning readings will make it easier to then learn the pronunciations of words, and it will. But my point is that once all is said and done, that new information (the mapping from words to readings) is ALL you're going to end up using. Those big lists of readings per kanji you end up memorizing will play no role in reading, writing, listening, or speaking Japanese, and over time those memories will fade and die from lack of use.
The only thing memorizing readings can do for you is act as a stepping stone to then learning word pronunciations, it lowers the barrier to entry but also at a great cost of time and effort itself.
If you think that tradeoff is worth it for a little stepping stone then go for it I guess. Personally I think it's a huge waste.

Can every rule of the language be understood by mass input(krashen style) or is it necessary to read grammar explanations in your own language. I think its really helps to skim a grammar guide or read the explanations of main particles in a j-e dictionary. other than that I haven't read any grammar guides besides looking up things in the dicitonary and I've made great comprehension gains just reading lns with yomichan but aux iru verb fucks me up more than anything even though I understand the gist. In some examples obviously it has to mean was put in some state and now is existing there but some contexts I wonder if they meant -ing vs "was done and now exists in that state"

>> No.20450834

>>20450792
Did you read grammar explanations when you learned your first language? The answer is that you don't need any explanation at all but when done right an explanation helps you understand it faster. "When done right" means that you read it when your brain is ready to acquire that grammar. You know that this is the time when you feel like you have a vague understanding of it, and/or when the grammar explanation sticks immediately after reading it and you don't need review (this is necessary, if you have to review it again and again then your brain simply wasn't ready to learn it yet).

Yes you should, prominent language learning figures (on the same level as Krashen), i.e. Wolfgang, say so. The reasoning in short is that you use pre-existing knowledge (your mother tongue) to help scaffold your target language.
