In episode 3, she was a useless bitch, but in Episode 4, she deserved ten times Eva Beatrice torture (she is much more despicable in there than any other episode).

Many people vote with the whole franchise as a whole, which explains why some characters are placed weirdly (Natsuhi for instance, is unfortunately the whiny "honor defending" wife, and she kicks the bucket really early in ep4. It's hard to tell at this point, but it's obvious that Beato does have feelings for Battler in some way, but she's committed not to let them get in the way of the game.

Besides, there's lots of other relationships in the game anyway, like the married couples George/Shannon, Kanon/Jessica, . Rosa & Maria is a particularly interesting case between a single mother and her child.

It makes sense really. The deaths initially seemed inevitable because Beato was so overpowering. The more even it gets between the two, the more balanced it gets on the game board, which is why you can have things like Krauss and George kicking ass.

Yes. The whole point is that Battler cannot trust any scenes that occur in which he is not present as his gameboard self, especially ones that involve the murders.

Not really. Although Battler and Beato disagree on why certain people are being murdered (Battler thinks there's a motive, Beato says it's random), they both agree that the deaths tie in to solving the riddle of the epitaph.

Even if it doesn't tie into the location of the gold directly, I think the solution to the epitaph will explain how Kinzo was able to make his fortune.
