I was in Cologne, not London, but I share your feelings about unfulfillment and sound.

I was sitting in the rear and the sound was terrible and the projection way too far away from me. And people told me "don't let this disappoint you, try again, from a closer place".

But now I'm thinking about it. If I get a spot near the screen, I will be surrounded by a bunch of people who will be cheering in unison (don't get me wrong, I was cheering myself), but these guys will do all the coordinated "oooowoh, hao!, oooowoh, hao!" on every fucking song which sounds nothing like "ooowoh hao!". So in the end I won't be able to enjoy that either. I just want Miku.

Anyway, luckily I met an online acquaintance there (although we'd never talked much before). It was nice to mingle for a couple of hours, even though nobody wanted to talk to me much.

So overall, I'm feeling better about it now that a few days have passed. I feel like contributing more to Vocaloid related things,

but I think I will never go to a live show again.

I'm mainly asking to compare to my own experience. I attended Mirai 2018 and it was simply mind-blowing. I've been planning and preparing over 9 months and went in ready to be gravely disappointed (and regretful for wasting so much money and effort), but it was one of the most vibrant and memorable experiences in a very long time. I literally cried for the first three songs, how amazing everything around me was - visuals, sound, crowd around me...

My Miku Expo Europe going experience is hard to compare because all of those things were worse. But still I came out very satisfied, mainly because of the songlist.

Sounds like Japanese live concerts probably aren't your thing then. The singing and chanting is a lot more hardcore in Japan but even seeing Scandal or Asian Kung Fu Generation in London people were cheering along to the music, and I'm seeing Man with a Mission in February so I can go all Database

They sell tickets internationally just fine, as long as you win the ticket lottery or manage to book accommodation plan before they're all gone.

Magical Mirai is one of the few Japanese concert that specifically tailors to gaijins. There's a separate lottery for Gaijins, and if you buy an (overpriced) accommodation package you're guaranteed an SSS ticket. Me and a friend both entered the lottery to try and get SSS tickets and whilst we both succeeded we both only got the normal S tickets.

Like someone mentioned there's a separate gaijin seating block for Mirai so you'll be surrounded by chinks and weebs though

For other Japanese concerts there are professional services you can use who enter the ticket lottery for you, and barring that you can always just buy tickets from resellers (might be expensive but I didn't have any issues with the tickets being fake or anything)

i was one floor higher than the vip seats, on the side, concert started and i only saw one japanese dude standing, i stood up and cheered hard and eventually one guy joined me but the rest were just sitting, 2 old dudes in front of me even left after the first few songs.
