Reminder that lurking or posting in these threads or in any other online "Japanese language '''''''''learning''''''''' communities" is the absolute worst thing you can do for your Japanese. Every moment spent here is a complete waste of time and serves only to distract you from getting things done.

Leave and learn Japanese, or stay here and don't. Make your choice, anon. Those with sense have already left which is why these threads are so shit.

Find something compelling. If you have to force yourself to read it then it's not compelling. Of course, you won't know whether it's compelling or not until you get several hundred lines in, so you still need to push yourself, but if you're like 1/10th of the way through a full-length VN and you're still forcing it you just need to find something else to read.

Nah dawg just dropping the real hot advice which is largely true across this whole language: If you don't have to use something, don't fucking use it. Keeping it simple is 99% of success in reading and speaking Japanese. This applies all sorts of shit like avoiding use of は, pronouns, and other things that are mostly unnecessary with uses that become more apparent the less you rely on them.

Obviously shit gets used but let's be honest 99% of your problems in Japanese are solved by not overthinking, and thinking towards simpler thoughts rather than trying to convey exactly what you mean in English since the languages are largely incompatible.

>just watch anime so this doesn't happen to you

lol I literally copied and pasted the components of a sentence an episode of Pokemon and inserted different words to form that, it's a sentence structure that's literally been used by a native speaker before.

maybe more optimal for building overall comprehension ability than picking up new vocab as fast as possible though

>And how am I supposed to remember words?
I don't really understand why you think you need SRS for this. Some well known VN translators learned Japanese by just reading, and had never heard of anki. So yea, obviously reading alone is enough to remember vocab.

Ankidrones confuse me.

I think anki is more efficient than reading and the 1 or 2 samefags (Jamal and his ass kisser) who insist otherwise here are wrong about that, but people who take the reverse position of "How can you learn words without anki?" are completely wrong too.
