Here. The models are still in progress overall, so they could always get some changes. There aren't any real solid reference for their body types aside from the tits, so it's always kinda tricky to make them different. Borges wrote all about this in "Circular Ruins" - which is assuredly my third favorite short story by him, right after "The Library of Babel" and "Everything and Nothing."

But like Borges implies in "The Sacred Numbers", there's not just one Demiurge in Umineko - there's a Demiurge above that - we can say Lambdadelta, and above Lambdadelta - Featherine. From a human's perspective, R07 would be the Demiurge above Featherine, as the author of Umineko.

The sheer expanse of higher and higher beings - each having control and knowledge far beyond the rest, is a truly wondrous and terrifying concept to contemplate.

This nigh eternal master-servant relationship runs in parallel to the karmic destiny of the Ushiromiya. Kinzo's sin causes Natsuhi's sin, causes Yasu's sin, causes Battler's sin - and so eventually the entire family has to pay. In Eastern Religion, a "sin" is more like a "debt." This is partly why Yasu includes Jessica in her scheme - it's not out of malice, but out of theological obligation. Jessica herself may have not done much wrong - but she is part of the Ushiromiya family, and so inherits their karma - their sin - their "debt."

As an aside, I'll remind you to read Invitation to a Beheading. It has a horizontal (spatial) epistemological hierarchy while Umineko has a vertical (temporal) one, since the setting is separate from the world and can't be observed until well after the massacre. The epistemology moves then across a third axis, since its metafiction travels upward with unreliable everything (like even the author and reader), and not just the narrator, who changes regularly. Invitation to a Beheading's metafiction moves downward in that the pieces become players to transient and capricious games, all written by Cincinnatus from his jail cell in an almost closed room. With Umineko, we don't care about outside horizontal/synchronous perspectives, but here the person inside the cell (Cincinnatus) is subject to his viewer's imagination. This is partially why his cell has a window he can't reach that often colors his face where and how it likes; he's the object of scrutiny from every level. It uses different vectors from Umineko, but with the same fabric.

In the same way he'll become seasick when the guard peering through the keyhole at him imagines him at sea, he'll become whatever color and shape the sky chooses for him to be. In return, his mind distorts perceptions of what goes on in his cell when, it distorts his perception of what's happening in the jail when his mind is stable in the cell, and it distorts his perception of what's outside when he's outside the cell but in the jail. It's basically an epistemological hierarchy by virtue of spatial garths, sparser and sparser arcades and cloisters per tier. Umineko does this but on the other axis.

So yeah if you're a skilled enough reader for Nabokov then you ought to read him, though he's difficult even for seasoned consumers.

The manga have some great art and expression so yeah, it's totally worth it, it's a really different experience from the VN since it focuses much more on showing (and much better than the anime).

The major changes worth noting are in Episode 7 where Will's explanation is clarified, and Episode 8 which has scenes rewritten or added.
The manga is lacking in music but seeing iconic scenes being illustrated makes up for it. There are various artists that worked on the manga and most of the time it's great. Erika alone is a gold mine for reaction images.

That was what lead me to wanting to redraw her in particular, the alchemist and steam sprites looks nothing like her. She looks androgynous in the steam version. Meanwhile she tends to be fine in the manga versions, while the anime's is her most solid adaptation, she looked great in Kira.

I actually neglected anime for a long time and was never interested in it for scholarly reasons (I assume that's why you want my reasoning). I'm not even sure I could give five, since if I want to experience something meaningful I'll just, you know, read a book.

First is Shiki. It's simply strong and acts on its thematic imperatives elegantly and coherently. Most stories have trouble merely linking the causal chain (aka logic errors and plot holes), but Shiki just does everything well. It's virtuously eclectic, succeeding well as a horror (and horror is a genre that is a litmus test of your skill; it's the most tautological genre because the meaning of any horror story is ultimately that horror exists, like how in Silent Hill the area is a deranged vista of your regrets/personal horrors), thematically as an attack on human hubris, and as entertainment.

Nodame Cantabile because I like classical music and Chiaki is actually really funny. It's one of the rare times an anime is better than its manga.

Annarasumanara isn't even an anime (it's a manhua) but it's actually the perfect sister piece to Umineko, and it's only 27 chapters long. If you like Umineko, you have to read Annarasumanaraーit'll explain itself promptly.

TTGL because entertainment value is paramount, and it has the most in its medium. There's no real argument against entertainment that has mastered the art of entertainment!

Trianthology and Hotarubi both have the magical matrix in full force. It's the backbone of When They Cry, a series really about the rare meetings between Bernkastel and Lambdadelta. Just by the presence of dharmic things I doubt he will abandon eastern philosophy, which is what Featherine, Lambdadelta and Bernkastel are based on, alongside the metafictional themes of authorship, the readership, creating versus consuming. He's very clearly just a metafictional author by now, and metafiction is just shorthand for fictional metaphysics (and thus real metaphysics, because high enough metaphysics finally forego the reality-fiction fission).

If your goal is to help people learn how to learn, you're doing a good job. I ordered Ficciones and Pnin, and I'm going to be devouring those when they arrive. As someone very much interested in creating this kind of metafiction myself, consuming more of it beyond visual novels is necessary to give myself a better foundation. Ascending from Voyager to Creator isn't an easy task but it's one I'm committed to. As for what you said about WTC5, the open environment will definitely be an interesting paradigm shift. While I think it's unlikely, I'm hoping we'll see more of the Witch Hunter community as well. There's something oddly fascinating about true crime and the community around it. It's not like dead people fanfiction is that rare in real life at all—hell, there's a tasteless fetish manga about Furuta Junko. The fanwork Redaction of the Golden Witch did a good job at conveying it, but it'd be great to see Ryukishi's own take.

Some particular sects believed that there were three tiers of souls. The short version is that Hylics were basically soulless, Psychics had potential to ascend, and Pneumatics would absolutely ascend. This was more or less recreated by monkeys on a typewriter for the NPC meme. Of course, there were plenty of variations on that, where one could "climb up the ladder" through opening their mind to new knowledge, or where it was dismissed as an elitist farce that fundamentally misunderstood how Sophia's gift works.
