Where is the info in the wikia about Shion's "canon" uniform design is supposed to come from? My main problem with this is that the original VN only had her ST Lucia uniform, and at the same time Alchemist' games don't have it at all.

Then again the manga indeed seems to follow that logic and have Shion wearing that "new" uniform" in Minagoroshi combined with her first scene in Meakashi and one of her final scene in Matsuribayashi where she wears ST Lucia's. Ryukishi seemingly managed the content of each manga adaptations, that combined with the consistent design, I guess it's canon she has two uniforms?

Renai Harem Game has been licensed and scheduled to be released January 7th, 2019. It's a manga written by Ryukishi but there hasn't been any discussion for it in these threads.

In response to someone having doubts about a Kickstarter being absolutely necessary to fund this:
"I'm going to level with you-- our budget is currently zero dollars and zero cents.
In fact, the bulk of the work on this project has been done for free, either 1. by volunteers or 2. by contractors who had enough faith in our staff and our product that they were willing to accept payment after the Kickstarter.
The actors' pay for the announcement video is one of the very few actual monetary investments that ANYONE has made in Umineko Gold thus far. But the labor investments from everyone--07th Expansion and Witch Hunt included--have been enormous. Name a task on this project (besides acting)-- I can almost guarantee you that it was done by a dedicated volunteer who hasn't been paid a cent yet.
This is also part of the reason why the planning for this campaign has taken us 2 years to do. We all work day jobs on top of doing this, our resources are incredibly limited, and not counting the folks at Witch Hunt and 07th Expansion, the total number of Catbox/Sound Cadence staffers working consistently on this project is SIX, including me!
That said, every single person on this team is a professional in the dubbing and/or audio production industry, which is how we are able to effectively estimate exactly what resources we will need, and what kind of production environment and schedule we'll be working with if we receive funding for this project. Well, to be honest I agree with them regarding how their conversations don't quite sound that natural in english even with the new translation, and the repetition is part of them leaving the nihongo styled descriptions the way they are, only in english, and even here there was some complaining about it.

But I'm more in the lines of some other guy in that thread defending WitchHunt and why they continued being somehow literal with their new version.

Seacats is kinda infamous with all the crazy fuckery it pulls with perspective, and that other guy calling WitchHunt's a shitty translation, while not exactly wrong with some things he said, didn't even seem to recognize that this is quite "meta" metafictional work.

I still side with WitchHunt the most and think UP's version is trying too hard anyway, not to say it's garbage tier at times.

Certain lines and terms that people are more familiar with are different in UP's version, such as the "Rokkenjima Massacre" becoming "Rokkenjimagate". There's also said to be more gratuitous cursing in the UP version. I can't say for sure if it's a matter of quality or preference.

A hallmark of a really, really bad translator is one that goes the other way out of a sense of entitlement, because deep down, they think they could have been writers (protip: they can't), and even that translating is a more difficult job than writing (protip: it isn't). So they're "naturally" more of a genius that that stupid author, and they know better than him in general.

EVERY fucking time, EVERY fucking time there is a translation, some translators will come up and say "it's a shit translation, it would have sounded better if you just changed the meaning and the structure of 95% of the sentences". EVERY fucking time. I'm so tired of it.

Well, except when the translation was already made by a shitter who already changed the meaning and structure of the work because he knows better than its author, right? When arrogance marries stupidity, your name is translator.

WH's translations are honestly among the best amateur translations I have ever seen of a Japanese work. Retooled (as in, the PS3 patch), they're even better, but retooling them further would only be the hubris. And of course there a shitter who's advocating for it. There's alway one.

Most KS fail horribly because producing anything is hard, especially when several parties are involved. Professionalism is what ties people together when the release date is approaching too fast, several important artists or VA dropped out unexpectedly at the last moment, suddenly your bank is doing an audit on your funds, and literally everything that could go wrong went wrong simultaneously.
