Thing is Nasu saw the sales of Mahoyo and Last Encore and the people complaining about it and think "well shit this is the last time I'm ever pouring my soul in this crap".

Nasu was motivated to use Tsukihime to promote KnK which flopped originally, then KNK came out and because a hit which overshadowed Tsukihime.

Takeuchi Takashi basically browbeat Nasu into including pornography into his games early on to help sell more copies.

It seems to me that Takeuchi's interests and Nasu's viewpoint have changed over the past 20 years.
Even if FGO weren't so lucrative, Type-Moon would not be able to recapture the atmosphere of KnK/Tsukihime, and their works would not have eroge elements.

Finished the first 2 films/episodes. Kind of underwhelming to be honest. It doesn't have the same "hook" like Fate did. With Fate I had a good understanding of what's going on from the start and the way Seiba shows up is amazing. Here, not much has happened so far. Shiki killed some ghosts (which would be super confusing to someone who doesn't know about Tsukihime) and that she's into killing humans too for now. She also must have a female version of The Gland. Either that or this Kokutou guy is an absolute madman. That said, I'm still going to continue. The animation is pretty good even if it's showing its age a little bit, and since I had the patience to sit through the VN I'll be able to sit through this too. I just wish they did more to establish a coherent plotline like Fate did by introducing the Grail War and something to get the viewer more interested.

Not him, but he's got a point. Regeneration isn't always purely biological. IIRC the nasuverse has a bit about how the physical body is a reflection of the soul. Zouken looks like a zombie because his soul is rotting, and he can no longer look like a normal human. The same type of thinking can be applied to regeneration. If someone cuts off your hand, it's going to grow back because it's part of who you are. If someone cuts off your foreskin it may not grow back because you stop thinking of it as part of your body. To that end, a hymen may not regenerate because it's meant to be torn.
