2006142 No.2006142 [Reply] [Original]

Rules:
1) You have one attempt. No restarting (there is some lenience with this rule. If you die to the first wave of fairies for no reason at all, no one's gonna care if you restart.)
2) The run must be done by you, right now. No replays.
3) Winner is determined by score.
4) Every round lasts 30 minutes unless otherwise stated.

This round is Imperishable Night, Stage 4A, normal or hard.

I wanna do something other than plain old score-based for the next round. Any suggestions are welcome, otherwise I'll probably just make it pacifist.

Oho, why not create a paradox by fighting Reimu with the Border Team?

Anyway, this didn't go very well; I've always sucked at 4A. If this were 4B, it would've been a different story altogether. Anyway, only ended up clearing two of her cards; whatever her homing amulet one was called on this one is just about impossible for me; I believe that putting forth 300+ attempts into Fantasy Heaven has forever made it impossible for me to clear that type of card. Anyway, hard run coming soon.

Pacifist sounds like fun; if not, the winner could perhaps be whoever has accumulated the most faith by the end of the stage?

Hard was a sightread of Reimu's stuff basically. I have like no experience with 4A because I always play Border team. Makes for an interesting round, though!

I recommend a grazing challenge or something instead of just pacifist. Pacifist is really boring and tedious to play.

Only death was on her second to last spellcard; as you may guess, it was caused due to more troubles with the hitboxes. They're the reason I don't play MoF very much. Anyway, damn; her stuff lasts way too long for pacifist to be fun. I had no idea her second card got faster as it went on; probably because I usually bomb the shit out of it.

The trick is to sit on top of Parsee's nonspells and bomb at the right time so you get a ton of graze as every bullet she fires passes through you. There's probably some other stuff that I missed as well since my graze is 4000 points lower than the best.

Thats pretty much the problem with practice stages: they are intended for practice - not for scoring runs, or graze challenges.

For this challenge, it's obviously the best idea to run ReimuA, bomb every nonspellcard to graze as much as possible, then suicide when you run out of power and bomb some more. And timeout as much as possible.

Well, that was sort of fun. I sucked for the first two stages, but got back into the swing of things during stage 3. I don't find the time to play EoSD very much anymore, so this was refreshing.

For a future round, may I recommend that you choose several cards from IN's spell practice (3-5, I'd think), give us as many tries as we wish within the time limit, and go for the highest score we can get on each card? Depending on the card, a graze challenge of sorts for one or more of them could work nicely, as well.

Alright, I've neglected to take a few things into account; first of all, I forgot to mention the rather obvious fact that the secondary method of choosing the winner (by score) only takes effect if the entries with the same amount of lives remaining both cleared the stage. Second, I completely forgot that PCB takes you immediately to the replay saving screen, and doesn't bother with results of any sort when you lose in practice mode. Unless we get people who actually clear this, judging accurately could be difficult; I made it up to the beginning of Yuyuku's survival card on hard, but I don't have any proof to show for it, sadly.

I suppose the best solution is to post a screenshot if you can, but if not, just mention where you ran out of lives, I suppose. It's really the only way to do things, at this point.
