Both official and fanmade music is going to be available for purchase on iTunes and Google Play from this Sunday.

You will be able to purchase individual albums, but they won't be available on subscription services. It will be up to each circle to decide whether to make them available outside Japan.

I think this will be a good opportunity to support artists and get old rare albums. However, with unlimited distribution on mainstream platforms, it seems the line between doujinshi and commercial works keeps getting blurred. They've sorted out copyright issues with ZUN and Tasofro, and it seems Comiket guidelines consider online distribution as acceptable for doujinshi works.

Also, this doesn't seem to be a cross-circle collaboration, but a for-profit service that acts as a publisher for the circles, since they take a 50% cut from the sales according to https://touhou-music.jp/circle/..

That's a pretty crappy way of supporting circles, then. Google also takes like 30% of the money for anything sold on Google Play. So the people you want to be getting the money will only get 35% or 20% of it, depending on how that 50% is applied.
