I really can't understand how people shit so hard on the DI anime. Sure, it's pretty badly animated and cuts on much of the exposition, dialogues and ruminations that make Dies Irae what it is, but it's still very much fanservice for, well, the fans that love the VN. If you think the anime deserves Tsukihime's treatment, then you're wrong in that you shouldn't have expected a comprehensive and competent adaptation since the very beginning as it's just a treat to the diehard fans of the novel that just wondered how Reinhard or Wilhelm would look like in (a badly) animated format, me included.

I'd say it's a bit better than Demonbane and it fullfills the purpose you claimed decently, given the circumstances (A project that started as crowdfunding wasn't gonna be able to gather top-tier staff)
Given the crowdfund origins of the whole thing, it's not even that outlandinsh to think of it like that, since it was fans who paid for it to get made. So it was made for those fans who paid first and foremost.
The problem is that there's a lot of people who'll watch an anime before reading a VN (if they read VNs at all), A LOT more than the reverse (people who'll read the source before watching the adaptation).
So, Dies is tarnished in those people's eyes. And convincing them the VN is worth it is hard and/or almost impossible (if not totally imposssible). It's not like I care much about what someone says about Dies if they're retarded secondaries, but it still doesn't feel good to see people shitting on Dies because of the anime
The worst part is how fucking underrated Dies Anime's OST is. Because everything else is below average for a secondary, they ignore the OST and don't consider it worth it, when the OST alone deserves mention, at least.
But nope, they throw everything about it (including the wonderful OST) in the "shitty edgy VN adaptation to be forgotten" pack and call it a day

So, to clarify things about Ren/Yato absorbing or not parts of the dead Snake.
I'm pretty sure at that point that I was the one who started this... well, not quite a misconception, but surely not the completely canonic thing. Basically, there was nothing about that in that part of the Throne memory that recorded Hajun's fight with Snake, Ren, Marie, and Reinhard. I'm pretty sure of it, and I don't think I've missed any lines when I translated it. Though it's almost physically painful for me to look at this "translation" now. Not like I've improved much, but still. In a sense, Ren absorbing parts of the dead Snake is my headcanon to explain him having, well, snakes, and using some of Mercurius' abilities. He also sounds almost exactly like Mercurius in some moments.
So, basically, it's not canon. At least I don't think I've seen any actual confirmation of this theory, but I do think that it explains things quite well.

Well it's mainly due to Methuselah's existence since Darkness is a core part of the world. Just by not watching his step he could destroy the world by collapsing the Ying/Yang balance. If he were to punch Beato in her lighting form it's not as if he would erase the concept of lightning, since she's not really the Methuselah of lightning. I hope I explained myself well enough, it's a bit difficult.
