yeah it was mentioned that he'd love to do the +18 release but couldn't due to the clusterfuck that is glorious nippon coding called 1000 times over. I wouldn't let an official company off the hook if they did some bullshit like this since they have access to official developer tools but it's fan-translators with hacked together tools doing the best they can do with what they've got. I don't blame 'em one bit.

It's good, but it aged really bad in term of the gameplay, but in a sense, it's better to go force->sky not to feel a terrible downgrade. I went sky->force and it was painful. You don't really need it to understand sky, though zero references some parts (Leviathan, mostly).

MangaGamer's Top 5 Chart:

1. Sisterly Bliss ~Don't Let Mom Find Out~
2. Fashioning Little Miss Lonesome
3. Treasure Hunter Claire
4. Evenicle
5. Neighbor Watching

Sisterly Bliss is now 2 weeks in a row on 1st place.
Fashioning Little Miss Lonesome ranking 2nd due to last week's otome sale.

It seems like on the 18+ patch some are doing it as DLC and see without. I do not know if there is a difference. But it seems like no matter what though some regions will always be effected if the scenes are in or not. Still good news though.

My guess is they are talking to Steam about the DLC 18+ patch vs uncensored release version and about the region stuff going on. Either way I agree with you completely. Hopefully within this week they make a few huge moves and announcements for Steam. I can imagine a Euphoria, Rance and Kara no shoujo release. Those would easily sell about 5k copies maybe even more. Nukige and 18+ is easily Mangagamer territory that they can win out over time.

I think they're trying to improve relations with GOG for now. MG got burned by Valve even after doing everything right. I mean they even got their games pulled even though they specifically put the content through an official rep. Japanese related material gets more harshly treated there for no fucking reason I can think of other than racism. That's not to say they're not trying to put their games on Steam. That would be foolish. It's just that they're not as enthusiastic about it and not in a particular hurry.

>> No.19898336

>>19898299
If MG's Steam rep hasn't changed, then they might not be able to. He or she seems conservative and has given them bad advice before. Even Doddler pointed out that they may not want MG to release anything that can't stand on its own without sex scenes.

>> No.19898342

>GOG only
I would like to believe you Anon. But Steam is where the userbase is at. Mangagamer may drop a few titles on GOG here it will get some sales, but it does not have the 18+ stuff now that Steam introduced. If you can have potentially 6k sales and have a userbase that will buy from you on a storefront. Then it's worth the effort to be patient and go through the process and to figure everything out before jumping in completely.

This is good advice I would release safe games at least for now and then move onto the controversial stuff later. Either way MG has to release something. They have a good library right now to export some games that fans would like.

By all intents you are right. There's two problems with this though

-Generally fanTLs kind of want to build up hype for their releases. It's so that people will know that the thing they've been working on for months, even years has been completed. Releasing something to no fanfare and out of nowhere looks good as a nice surprise but without hype, there's the likelihood that any interest in it will be lost and that feels bad when you've worked on something for a long time. I think the best example is coco who TLed Ikikoi and Ayakashibito. Her releases never really got attention so she bowed out of translating until /vn/ sent her a bunch of thank you emails like years later

-The other problem is the possibility that someone else ends up working on the same VN you were working on. This is a pretty big one in a million chance but it's not a complete impossibility. Imagine you were working on some long as fuck 30 hour VN keeping it a secret for a long time and then some other fanTL group, or even worse an official localisation company, announces they have been working on the same thing. Maybe they're even further along than you. It would suck pretty hard. Again, this is a pretty big long shot since there's so many VNs out there but if it happens with fansubbing and scanlation, it can happen with VNs too

There are scenes like that in a lot of VNs that chose to drop honorifics. Newton even lets you toggle between honorific or no so you can see exactly how they had to rewrite dialogue in cases like that, though usually hearing the voices makes it obvious anyway.

Pic related, originally they were talking about referring to each other by their given name but since translator pulled the old "swap name order and have everyone refer to each other on a first name basis no matter what" trick they had to think fast.

Doddler tweeted a few months ago how some titles who even do well for MangaGaer's standards won't get a hardcopy due to super expensive voice actor licenses. He most likely meant Da Capo III since it's the only title that sold well enough but didn't get a hardcopy.
While the Da Capo III fandiscs aren't as big as Da Capo III, they still have a big amount of voiced characters.

In short, with the steam boom over, fandiscs generally selling less than the main visual novel and expensive voice licenses, the chances of them licensing the fandiscs is quite low.
The same thing applies to Koihime Musou.

There might be a new "Steam boom" because of the relaxed restrictions, but I only see nukige and sex-heavy gameplay titles really benefiting from this. Kagura Games is bound to grow even more, MG will probably benefit the most in the short run depending on how many titles they can get on Steam (Even if they refrain from pure nukige, that still leaves Rance and Evenicle.), and Steam reliant companies like Sekai, Frontwing, and Nekonyan will be more pressured to license nukige or near nukige, assuming Steam doesn't backtrack. Sol Press might be held back by its LN half to license titles that are too lewd.

For Sekai it actually makes paid DLC, especially on Nekopara, much more viable now that they can put it on the Steam storefront (as people buying Nekopara usually won't know Denpa exists). Their conversion rate for new sales should increase significantly. That said, in light of the new Steam policy, I'm guessing Sekai will likely pursue paid R18 DLC more often than they have in the past (as might developers such as Frontwing or Jast who never have explicitly pursued free patches historically.)

>>19912964
It wouldn't be worth it for them to try to re-add DRM to Nekopara now as they have been selling the patches on Denpa for years and a small percent of Nekopara sales will still be a lot of sold patches.

The voice prices must be through the roof considering MG could somehow afford the original Luckydog1 voice license.

The Japanese company can't even afford the voice license anymore. They had to cut the voices out of most ports and recast them for the remake. The only port that kept the voices was done by Prototype (who still had to change some smaller characters voices for cost reasons).

I think it will at least make the base goal because gameplay even if barely. If they keep up their momentum for the next couple of days, then they'll be at about 50% by the 60 hour mark. That's not too likely to happen, but I would say that the KS would be set if it did reach 50% in 72 hours.

inb4 meme character is slapped in. Incidentally, if one of the most expensive tiers were taken, that's more than 7% of the base goal.

The third 2000$ goal has been pledged. People are really eager to be a part of a game I guess.

Just remember that someone put in 10k for the Nekopara OVA for their OC neko to speak a line. So isn't that surprising people are splurging on OC.

Probably not going to happen, but if the rest of those were taken somehow, the KS would be almost 50% funded.

Honestly if I had the spare money, I would go for one of those tiers as well. OC sounds really tempting.

I double checked and there's still no info about a Fakku panel in the AWA schedule.

I don't understand the appeal of such rewards, but since it just leads to more playable battle characters than cringe worthy scenes, I don't mind.

Did Fakku have a panel at AX?

I don't like it. Localizations shouldn't add their own things to the game that weren't in the original.

But in this case the localization is done by the developer themselves, and the character will be drawn by the original artist.

You could ignore said character when it comes to gameplay. It's not like a backer made character will have an actual impact on the story.

As long as he localize the tentacles correctly. Us foreigners don't know about tentacles, but we know aboug spaghetti.

I think it is accepable when done well. I still remember years ago playing Sword Girls and they had OC cards added as a bonus, and those were done by random nobodies on the internet who couldn't even get the cards to look like they belonged to the game.

Out of principle I refused to use the card for the entire year or two I played.
