It's only just occurred to me that part of the reason I was playing so poorly was because I was using a PS2 emulator rather than arcade data. Feel like a right spoon.

I've tried most bemani games in the arcade for the first time this week. SDVX seems to be most fun gameplay and song wise. What can I expect for mid- to lategame if I get into it? Is it worth it or am I wasting my time?

>> No.19949754

>>19949724
You should probably get into it with something else alongside it (like IIDX) unless you have previous rhythm game experience. You'll only really play non-random, so if you learn too many bad habits it will take a very long time to get rid of them (I'm still feeling the effects of my bad habits more than a year later).
It's a lot of fun when you get to higher levels though.

>> No.19949832

>>19949724
SDVX is definitely the most fun and most active (gets updates most frequently) rhythm game and imo has a way better music selection than any other bemani series. It just gets more fun the higher level you go, definitely worth getting into long-term. Don't forget to pay an extra credit every time so you can print a genesis card, the cards are the best part of the game!!!

to all chargelets I suggest you play voltex for like a month, gruel it out, quit and derust iidx and then it might just click

Or just play CN charts. I got better at SDVX hold notes by playing IIDX.

mx browns are not very good, and "tactile" keyboard switches are not good for rhythm games because generally you feel a bump on the return stroke and it's very confusing. it's not an on/off sensation like arcade buttons
personally for stepmania i think mx reds are solid and mx blacks are ideal

My dude I know that feel. My brain just started separating iidx lanes into left and right instead of just horizontal blocks on top of each other. I just started playing Popn last week and suddenly my hands feel much more "free" of one another. Dont think it's a coincidence.

Also, after playing iidx for almost a year I'm still trash, but I think I may be naturally gifted at Popn. Have only been playing for 8 days and I can already do 35s. (New scale). Was playing popn 14 on ps2 then found a machine nearby. It just feels so much more natural to me than iidx.
