Why couldn't other Fate spin-offs be as good? I know the only TM writer who actually rivals Urobuchi is Nasu himself, but it's like no one even gave it a proper fucking try. Only Narita has done that and he's just a guest writer.
Narita and Urobuchi clearly understand what was cool about Type-Moon's urban fantasy setting in the first place and how Servants should be used in Fate stories, so why do we get trash like Grand Order instead, with its writers all riding on the Servant gimmick to appeal to secondaries in the laziest ways?

At this point Servants really are a plague on every TM work, I await the day when Nasu finally gets away from Fateshit.

I'm expecting the Remake to be very different from the original, not a replacement (that much is clear from the change in setting). What I want is expansion of the interesting parts of the Nasuverse with interesting original characters, rather than more Servant shit, and I think the Remake is intended to deliver that. Tezcatlipoca is likely to be another shitty pseudo-Servant. Even if LB 7 is in South America, ORT is more likely to be ignored or referenced as a side thing rather than be a major focus. Nasu doesn't like completely scrapping old concepts, and turning ORT into something else entirely would be the same as doing that.
At worst, he'll do something exclusive to Fate worlds, like he did with Primate Murder, but in Tsukihime he'd still be the same thing to please people who liked ORT.

Also reminder ORT-tan actually received a couple of votes in that creators' popularity poll as opposed to most GO shit characters, proving that old fans still like it.

Ado Edem attack is now MHXX's Noble Phantasm. You might like Notes but Notes is just some off universe doujin published before Type Moon was a company so Nasu can lift elements he likes and rework them. And ORT was never used formally by Nasu, so he can make him appear in any way he wanted like he did with Primate Murder who is now associated with cats rather than dogs. He also said that he was going to change the DAA list and some names will be removed when he does the remake (Primate Murder and ORT are the likeliest candidates to be removed and replaced with new characters).

We have this alien being (confirmed) who is related to spiders featuring in a rainforest of South America (Mexico is North America but Nasu sucks at geography and referred to Hawaii as South America you know) in the last lostbelt before the finale which calls for a big climatic battle and he'd have to come up with something that isn't overshadowed by Surtr or Mammoth Ivan.

Otherwise, he'll just change up the numbers and add a couple of new ones.

Mmhmm. I'm not a huge musou fan either, but as far as musou goes it wasn't even particularly good at that. And in my opinion, the level of fanservice and character assassination on display in Extella was some of the most egregious shit they've done in years. So much of that script is pure cringe. Can't believe Nasu would give the OK on most of that, but then again there's a lot of equally horrible shit in GO as well, so it's not like it's a phenomenon exclusive to Extella or anything.

When Nasu said all those years ago about how CCC was the last thing he had to say on Fate, I think he meant it -- at least in regards to the Extra stuff. Because everything since has been so bad. It's a shame.

For the Fate part of it, you definitely wanna start with Fate/stay night, and from there do whatever else you want (F/HA and Fate/Zero both expand on FSN directly and are very good). So you did that right.
For other Nasu stuff, you can do whatever. Kara no Kyoukai, and Tsukihime (and from there, Kagetsu Tohya and Melty Blood) are other popular starting points.
I would say make sure you save watching Carnival Phantasm for when you've gone through Nasu's major works, and maybe some more obscure stuff too. The more Type-Moon pre-2012 you know, the better that show is.

No, it's purely philosophical. The novel made me understand it a bit better, though I'm sure it works best in Japanese.
The idea is that you can only decide the death of 1 human, and that should be your own. This doesn't mean that you should necessarily kill yourself, but that you should gracefully accept your death when the time comes, and that is the equivalent of "deciding to die". If you killed people, Shiki's grandpa thinks that your heavy consciousness won't let you die peacefully. That's the idea.
What you're missing in the movie is the context that Shiki's grandpa had manifested the Ryougi's double personality trait, but his other self was a total psycho that he could not communicate with, who killed a lot of people and caused him to be locked in an asylum for 20 years. He does still mention that he killed other people in the movie though, so you get the idea. He had a lot of guilt and regrets.

Kokutou pretty much repeats the same advice as Shiki's grandpa for all of part 7, he doesn't want her to do something she can't take back (especially after learning that Lio was once a friend, and is very much human).
Of course, having taken the decision to kill Lio is something that will weight on Shiki for the rest of her life, but Mikiya reassures her that despite that, he'll help her shoulder that burden for as long as they live.
