1959097 No.1959097 [Reply] [Original]

Hey, this retard told me that Reimu was the last of the Hakureis because the disasters in Gensokyo keep increasing in size and scope, and that Reimu will eventually one day die or become a youkai, thus ceasing to be a Hakurei shrine maiden. I told him he was that wasn't true and that Cirno was smarter than him. What do you guys think?

Reimu won't become a youkai, but she will inevitably die.

There will be another Hakurei Maiden, however.

We'll just go with "virgin birth" for that.

>> No.1959106

I, for one, think Reimu is an undead zombie.

Reimu will become immortal because she'll whore herself out enough to be able to afford the elixir of life

Marisa is manly enough to impregnate Reimu. It's just one of her various Scenarios. Now, I wonder what Reimu's Flags are...

I'd read it.

Yukari will merely gap semen into Reimu, thus getting her pregnant. Therefore, virgin birth.

cool story bro.

You know, thinking about Yukari's powers a bit it wouldn't surprise me if the Hakurei family line actually died out after Mystic Square long ago only for Yukari to replace the Reimu who died of old age naturally with a Reimu from not quite 100% accurate history books as part of a eternal ritual to replace and reinforce Hakurei shrine maidens.

Kind of like a time lord, each new replacement has minor differences in from the last, brought about by minor inaccuracies in the Hakurei shrine maiden legend Yukari uses to bring about each new incarnation of Reimu.

The windows games are the latest version of Reimu, essentially as powerful and experienced as she is because brought into Gensokyo as a historical legend from a book she has all the talent and experience from her legends and with each passing adds more to the overall legend, but keeping the original attitude. Each recording remembers her ability to solve incidents and her seemingly carefree lazy attitude only to greater refine the legend each time.

Yukari keeps up this ritual as a essential part of maintaining the Hakurei shrine maiden line for the Great Border to operate without having to worry about Reimu settling down with men she clearly never shows interest in.

tl;dr - Yukari just replaces lost Hakurei maiden lines by manipulating the border between legend and reality, literally pulling a new Reimu out of chronicles every time.

>> No.1959488

What if Reimu was Yukari from the past? Like Kikyou and Kagome?

>> No.1959497

>>1959463
That doesn't explain why Marisa, Alice and Yuka don't find it strange that this 'new' Reimu is not the same girl they knew back then. I like my theory (immaculate birth) better.

>> No.1959507

Reimu is not an undead zombie. She never was, and never will be. The roots of her affliction are far deeper than that.

Reimu, you see, is an undead Lich.

Way, way back, in the second Touhou game, Mima gave an explanation of the ying-yang balls Reimu uses. The Hakurei Orbs absorb their user's power, storing it until they overflow and it is released in a single surge of energy.

For an ordinary shrine maiden, this wouldn't be a problem. But, one day, a certain young shrine maiden killed a few too many youkai, spent a little too much power. Her body, drained beyond the brink of death, had no power left to be absorbed. And so the Orbs took what was left: her very soul.

The energy of the orbs reanimated her body, but her soul has become trapped forever. And so, stripped of its core, her body began to decompose. The Shrine Maiden's spirit was perverted by the dichotomy of the Yin and Yang; she was divided between her moral engine, seeking absolute justice, and her murderous instinct, seeking absolute destruction.

The last Hakurei Shrine Maiden died that day, born again as Reimu the Destroyer.

Does that make Momizi Inuyasha?

>> No.1959549

>>1959497

She's not that different. A change in hair colour and outfit isn't going to raise that much of a question in a land of magic and mystery. Reimu doesn't seem to age much, if at all. Though thinking about it, Marisa wasn't much younger back then either so maybe I'm over stating the time difference, though Alice grew up and now seems mature. Yuka is ageless.

That said, I sort of like the idea of Reimu being a living personification of her own previous legends. Even if the idea doesn't quite hold up... still, no more silly then most other theories and the idea of a eternal Reimu technically still human refining her own legend amuses me more then Yukari artificially inseminating each Shrine Maiden with random stock sperm.

>> No.1959593

>>1959549
I doubt some random Anon's sperm would produce the level of innate talent Reimu has. Most likely its taken from another line of priests outside of Gensokyo.

And I was mainly talking about Reimu's memories. She wouldn't have any memories of the PC-98 games if your theory is right, which would lead the 3 I mentioned to think it odd.
