Sai stores info in any image file it edits and puts in some kind of info that tells the program if its been longer than 30 days or w/e the trial period is. so if you have the trial, clear registry and reinstall, but then open one of those files you made using it previously, it will then lock itself unless you have a license

I'm sorry to intrude but /ic/ is full of faggots and this doesn't seem too bad.

When drawing shit, I can sketch pretty well, using stickframe and what not, even colouring isn't that bad, although I still need to learn a lot about colours, but when it comes to smooth lines, with line weight and what not, I can't do this shit. I can't make smooth lines. Maybe if they're rather shot, but if it's longer, say, a forearm, I can't do this. Do I suck or is there hope left for me yet? Also, this is on a tablet, mind you.

>> No.1955667

>>1955630
I'm guessing you are using brushes with smoothing.
If so, I do remember some practice some anon posted a while ago, for practicing smooth strokes. It was basically taking some image with outlines, lowering it's opacity and on a different layer, trying to copy said outlines the best you could, aiming for a single stroke for each piece of outline, you'll fail a lot, but Ctrl+Z the fuck out of every bad stoke until you get it right. It worked for me, as in it becomes more natural.

>> No.1955674

>>1955630
SAI features stabilizers and a vector brush.
The stabilizer is located on the top bar and defaults at 3. It smooths out your drawing at the expense of reaction speed.

If you make a vector layer then the brush will leave points that you can move around and adjust after you draw the lines. It also has a curve tool.

>> No.1955685

>>1955674
I use S-6, yeah

>> No.1955714

Are smooth lines generally that important for a drawing? I ask this because a lot of the fanarts I've seen don't exactly have vector smooth lines. Will the difference be drastic if I switched over to using SAI instead of using photoshop to draw outlines? I generally paint underneath and lower the opacity of the outline so the sketchiness doesn't bother me as much.

Depending on the coloring style, I prefer a sketchy lining myself. It seems less machine-like and feels more like you actually drew it.

Course, some styles just work better with smooth clean lines.

Bottom line is, if it looks good, who cares.

Is the SAI less hypercomplicated than Photoshop?

Asking because I had a good time playing around with Deluxe Paint when I was a kid, but nowadays when I try to open my cracked CS3 it hits me in the face with seven thousand options and I don't really need that sort of rubbish in my face, I just want something to draw with.

>> No.1956430

Sai's pretty cool. So is oC 1.1 but I'm right now I'm leaning towards SAI. Photoshop rocks too, but for a different reason I guess. I've used photoshop a lot so I don't think it's complicated at all, but SAI is definitely less complicated. You just have to get used to it.
