Because moot said he created a catch all general board to save face and so that it didn't look like he was catering to the touhou and VN fans around and about, even though they were the main reason for a /jp/ board.

People here take that as this board was made specially for us and we can now do what we want, so people do. It's essentialy been hijacked by its userbase for two things Touhou and VNs.

Not saying this is a bad thing, I like /jp/ how it is.

Even in the early morning, when no one was posting on /jp/, I once saw a thread started with a (SFW) screencap from a CP video get 10 replies within a minute. From there is became a discussion of which CP videos were the best, and it filled up as fast as any circlejerk/metathread. There are certainly a lot of pedos here, and I would guess that most of us who aren't pedos still enjoy 2D loli.

I browsed /v/ regularly a year ago and they definitely had less pedos and lolicons. Outside of those who posted in pokegirl threads everyone was a fan of healthy.

Someone in the sticky mentioned the catalog function, and moot said it's on the todo list.

I hope this gets done soon. Having the catalog function would make it much easier for people to ignore threads they don't like, and would get rid of the whole competition between threads for a spot on the first page. I think it would help solve a lot more problems than trying to split up/combine boards.

Anyway, I don't think any animu threads should allowed be officially, even if they're good animu. However, if you want to risk it and the show has /jp/'s approval, there shouldn't be a long flood of complaining about it breaking the rules. It's kind of ridiculous how we reject certain things by consensus and then constantly reference the few rules we have.

I think the reason there's not much animu discussion on /jp/ is simply because there's more suitable(on-topic) boards for discussing this material.

To be fair, with touhou, you can *sometimes* get a good discussion about it out of /v/. I can't stress that SOMETIMES enough, that doesn't mean ALL THE TIME.

Not so much in the way people do here, image dumping about a certain character and saying how much we love China, what would Flandre do or something along those lines and then nothing after 100 images are posted.

On the rare occasion when a thread manages to take off and not get threadshitted by the hurr u like anything japanese therefore u r weeabuu faggots, they actually have worthwhile threads that actually discuss the games, music and storyline better than any of the threads I've seen here in a long time.

But they're few and far between. I've only caught 3 or so in the past month.
