Just found it again, I see Google has updated their street view since last time I looked. If you do go to visit the spot, can you tell us what is in that place the guy is always standing in front of? I feel sorry for him that he keeps trying to attract customers but nobody ever walks in.

>I hope Japan has lots of laundromats
They do.
Anyway, Japanese students don't really leave stuff at school, they generally don't have lockers in the same sense as American schools.
That's part of the reason why they have standardized backpacks for elementary and junior high school, all their textbooks and equipment is pretty much sized to fit it.
High schoolers get to pick their bags, at least in most schools, but they still take all their shit home.

Like every other normal country.
Though the Japs do have lockers, shoe lockers. Except they don't have locks. So much of the bullying pains would have been helped if they at least had locks. Are locks so anti-cooperative or something? It is a Japanese wonder how shoes don't get stolen more often.

>> No.19086141

>>19085885
It's only being displayed at ~24 frames per second, If a second of video is say, and] hour, as long as you take 24 screenshots evenly distributed throughout an hour there won't be any difference, and it is much more efficient.

On the other hand, I agree that lower framerates look jerky and not very good at all.

Most monitors are at 60HZ, so one screenshot per minute would give you 1second = 1 hour at 60FPS, and would be ideal to display.

>> No.19088431

>>19086141
It is running at 30 fps. And it is definitely not a 24 hour long time-laps. Technically you might be right, but I have yet to see a screenshot based time-laps with this level of fluidity, It took the kid like 30 frames to get in the train. Try to do one that replicates that and I might agree with you.

>> No.19089077

>>19088431
For what's worth, the time was compressed at different percentages when the train showed up. If I kept the same compression the whole train showing up would be three or four frames long. The whole 3 hours got compressed to less than 1% the original size while the train segment was compressed to 20% it's original speed.
The way I see it, if you set up to record one screenshot every X seconds and while getting the whole thing together, make it a 30 or 60 fps video, it would probably be as fluid. I do it that "harder" way because I can control how long the video will be. For the webms here it's always around 25/30 seconds for a decent quality.

By changing the link to http://livecamera1.okinawatimes.co.jp/viewer/live/en/live.html you can usually get English controls. For some reason the camera was looking at the roof so nothing interesting could be seen.
Remember that to control the camera you need to press the square with a plus at the bottom right. The blind spots are very weird, though.
I will add them right away. Haven't added anything in a while.

Just came back from a solo travel to Japan
It was awesome, exceeded all my expectations.
I could only spend 6 days, unfortunately. So I focused on Tokyo area, slept all nights in Toky, made 3 daytrips, then 3 days spent in Tokyo itself (plus some nights out if I dind't return too late or too tired from the daytrips)
Daytrips included hiking to places like pic related, also visiting former fukushima exclusion zones, wich still remain as ghost towns to date (restrictions were lifted less than a year ago)
If you plan on traveling alone and you have some questions; ama

What about food, anon? What are some of the places you would recommend?

No, I did not
I didn't try either, tho I dont really think you have a chance going out by yourself with little to no japanese if you don't know someone. If you have conversational level I suposse it would be doable... You may try in english, dunno. I'm not specially interested in japanese women over the rest, so I didnt want to waste the little time I had there.
I used tinder there, tho, and got quite a few matches, just to speak with them later at home for fun and to learn.

>>19134081
Food is awesome, and generally very cheap
To eat on the go, 7 elevens and supermarkets in general will save your life, they are literally everywere and all have bentos, sushi, yakitoris and shit. The can even microwave it for you and eat it in a table they have (you can't eat at the table 24h tho, they "close it alate at night")
About restaurants, ikazayas and shit, I would recommend, as in every place, avoid specially touristic sites, search for hidden alleys or normal streets in residential areas, and check that most of the clients, if not all of them are locals and salarymen.
Places like Shinjuku Omoide Yokochō are cool to visit, but they seem to be very touristic now, and in fact more expensive than a regular ikazaya just a few meters for the most crowded places... so your call.
At Omoide Yokochō, I met two guys, tho, One guy was colombian and the other was a Laosian-american militar, stationed at the okinawa base for almost 2 years. He said the base is so big and there are so many americans that they are isolated in their american bubble and have almost no interaction with local folks, so he didn't speak japanese. Funny guys we had a talk,I recommended them a few places and told them a festival that was going to take place nearby. So, places like Omoide Yokochō can be an experience, just dont use them to eat regulary

Tbh I don't really like tourist places. I prefer to see ordinary places and try to experience the real life-style of Japanese guys. It's generally boring to see crowded places filled with foreigners doing nothing but taking 100s of pics over and over again.
How easy to travel from one place to another in short notice? How did you manage to communicate? Do they understand maybe little english, or google translations? And thanks for your tip, anon.

Then you will enjoy just strolling arround residential areas, like Yanaka, Asakusa, Setagaya, Adachi, kameari... Full of /comfy/ places.
Public transport is fine, there is a 980¥ 24h metro pass that will get you anywhere in the Tokyo área. Even if you want to get to places like shimokitazawa, you'll only have to pay 180¥ extra for the stations outside the area.
Trains will make daytrips to places like nikko easy and confortable, if you are going to make several long trips consider getting the Japan rail pass.
Just plan the trips in avance cos there are several different railroad companies, and each one uses different stations for the trips outside of Tokyo.
For the metro, use the official app, or you will get lost often.
As for the languaje, people who have to work with tourists, like hotel or souvenir store staff, will understand at last basic English. But that's it, dont expect everyone at a 7/11 or small bar to talk English, so just learn a few basic phrases and it will be appreciated, gesture and point at thing (politely) use Google translate (specially usefull for food labels and street signs with the photo mode)
In Tokyo (and other big cities I presume) most important signs will often be in English, but in rural areas, dont expect it, bus timetables and so, will be in japanese

>> No.19134981

>>19134962
BTW, by important I mean signs indicating stations and so, expect all stores, regular bars, ikazayas, stores etc to have nothing written in English, just point at things/food, say something like "kore kudasae" and youll be fine

And it's password protected.

I hope it wasn't any of you guys fucking around with it yesterday, but there was already someone spazzing out with the controls when i found it (even though controls were locked for standard users) so that might have caught someones attention.

The IP camera watching crowd used to be so much better a few years ago, now everyone seems to just add "heil hitler" captions to the feed, put the camera into a non stop patrol loop, lock out the controls and change the passwords.
This is why we can't have nice things.

One of the funnier things i have ever seen on camera, unfortunately it was before i had things set up to record.
A lot of jumping around and flailing arms involved, the whole time i coulden't help but hear screeching of fighting chimpanzees in my head.

Sinnoh and Pokemon fans will probably appreciate and understand the beauties of Hokkaido.

>Shinji Kawamura (kino drone footages and scenes, seas, mountains, towns, architecture and abandoned sites and museums, festivals, daily life, wildlife, nature in general, one of my absolute favorites)

>sigma1920HD (the absolute japman, dude probably doesn't only do it as hobby and has a degree or phd, lives in the countryside and updates daily his videoblog with short footages of his town and what happens there however it's all about the animal, plant and fungi kingdom, stuff like wildlife visiting his backyard, insects, crows opening nuts by throwing them under the crosswalk cars wheels, japanese mocaques, phesants, wild cats, japanese serow and much more, especially insects. and on a top of that he documents their habitat, species and behaviors and stuff like the part of the day when he met them and such like a real researcher. if you want to see a japanese vending machine filled with a swarm of big black spiders, how some bugs fuck and shit or cute birds and deers in a small japanese town that's your channel because it can't get any more japanese in terms of bug catching hobby and devotion to details)

So consider yourself warned.
