Zouken used his Crest Worms to alter her magic circuits and turn her into his pawn. He was able to gain her when she was a small child, and everything he'd done while raising her is prepare her to serve his purpose during the Heavens Feel.

The Makiri magecraft is supposed to specialize in curses, which is double edged as they bring the harm to themselves as well as others (Crest Worms being a variant). Sakura used to be associated with the jewel magic/storage of her natural family, but then she got worm'd. Her personal affinity is supposed to be Imaginary Numbers, like Rin's is Five Elements, and Shirou's is Swords.

... But really wtf is Imaginary Numbers supposed to do? Other than use her tainted Black Grail power to suck maryoku wholesale from everyone living/dead?

She literally can't use uncorrupted magic--she's been augmented on a gene level to be compatible with the tainted grail. Even in True End, it specifies that she can never really disconnected from Fuyuki's Greater Grail--it will always be a part of her. And her od is huge as a result--she can easily and indefinitely maintain Rider.

Her knowledge and actual use of magecraft is in question, though--it's not like she uses it like Rin.
