In Ciel's (true) route, after Shiki rapes Kohaku and runs off with Ciel, why doesn't Akiha simply cut Shiki off?

In Ciel true, Shiki basically runs away from the mansion, presumably forever, runs off with (from Akiha's perspective) some floozy instead of ever returning Akiha's affections, and rapes Kohaku on the way out, as if daddy Tohno didn't abuse the poor girl enough, and indicating that he himself flew off the handle.

Yeah, if I were Akiha, I'd probably decide that was the right time to recall that life force investment, which failed to meet her expectations in the most spectacular manner possible.

Your chart confuses me. Shiki only has about 1/4 of a life to sustain himself on, given that SHIKI already stole the half life that Akiha gave him. Whether Shiki lives or dies doesn't directly affect SHIKI, unless SHIKI is the one to take Shiki's remaining life himself.

Tohno SHIKI is a bit of a mystery. Wheras Nanaya Shiki is kept on Akiha's special brand of life support, and Akiha only minimally takes blood from Kohaku to keep herself stable, Tohno SHIKI basically gorges himself on as much sex, blood, and siphoned life force from Nanaya SHIKI as he's capable of.

Whether this indicates that Tohno SHIKI barely has enough of his own life force to survive without constantly taking in large amounts from other sources, or whether it means Tohno SHIKI is simply a glutton and would be able to survive regardless, is unknown.

That was me jumping to conclusions. I assumed that Tohno SHIKI needs the life force of Nanaya Shiki to survive, since that's what he did to survive after his father tried to put him down.

The assumption is that both Nanaya Shiki, who was supposed to have died after being killed, and Tohno SHIKI, who was supposed to have died after facing his father's judgment, are operation on partial lives. Nanaya Shiki lives because Akiha split her life force and used part of it to sustain him. Tohno SHIKI lives because he siphoned life force from Nanaya Shiki.

All three are physically and mentally weakened by this chain of life support, of which Akiha is the root donor. If she were to cut off support to Nanaya Shiki, then Tohno SHIKI would quickly drain all that was left until there was none left, and therefore be unable to sustain himself any further, leading to his own death.

But since I don't know what exactly keeps the Tohnos alive, like whether blood and sex intake keeps them alive or just stabilizes their minds, there's some room for doubt: >>1922937

Akiha has the power to keep Nanaya Shiki alive, but it causes her to slowly go insane without help from Kohaku. Well, I see her being generally helpful on Arc's, then being raped in Ciel's route, then being a damn psycho and killing (or trying to) get both SHIKI and Akiha killed no matter the means in two routes (I'm not sure on this; don't remember much of the Akiha route except the exceedingly sad endings).
So yea, got to her route and I disliked her intensely. No ammount of sad backstory or happy end can fix that.

Ciel and Kohaku are magnificent, mainly because of how well-adjusted they are (if only on the surface in Kohaku's case, but the ability to convincingly act well-adjusted itself is admirable). Ciel in particular is JUST jaded enough to be realistic and have a strong, not-completely-cruel sense of humor, but not so much that she totally gives up on life and loses the ability to love. Out of the entire cast, Ciel and Kohaku suffered the worst and overcame their adversities in the most spectacular manner.

Hisui is a moeblob and nothing else. I don't know why anybody likes her, other than Chobits fans.

I can see what direction Nasu was trying to go with Arc, but he completely fucking drowned her character in boring encyclopedic explanations. Just when you're almost getting to an enjoyable scene where she and Shiki just might be acting goofy with each other, Nasu decides it's time for Arc to break any cheerful mood and explain the boring details of an almost-joke or begin reading an excerpt from A Brief History of Vampires.

Akiha gets proper development, and is ultimately a sympathetic character, but I was initially put off by her surface behavior. What can I say? I'm just a wind mage who hates stuck up bitches. The inevitable doom of both her routes is disappointing, but once she gets proper development she's not an unlikable character.

I agree with your assessment, save for this. I don't really see Hisui as moe-moe, just cute at times. What I like about her is that she's responsible, understanding, and puts other people before herself, which the doujin above portrays fairly well.

Hisui is certainly well-intentioned, but everything she does is wrong. Not really. She started becoming quiet due to shock after Shiki nearly died, and when she noticed that her sister was picking up on her more cheerful traits, she decided to stay that way for the sake of her happiness.

She stated in her good ending that she was happy as long as her sister was, and I never noticed Kohaku objecting to her behavior.
