No, it was awesome /because/ it has Touhou characters. Replace the Touhou characters with generic soldier units and you'd have a semi-entertaining game, probably something you'd play if it was a Flash game on some website, but that you'd never bother to download or buy.

Patchcon is cute and all, but not exactly lasting gameplay.
SWR is just fun like most fighting games. Not original, but fun. Definitely better than IaMP.
Most other stuff is "meh"

But it gets really retarded when it gets to levels where anything with Touhou is considered great. Seriously, if you were to shop Marisa's hat onto anything, /jp/ would flip the fuck out and make it seem like the second coming of Jesus.

I went back to playing Gensokyo Tower Defense for a while, god that gets frustrating. Flan is the only character I can beat any level on Hard without much effort (and with her it's easy enough that I feel like I have to be perfect for it to be rewarding, then I RAGE when a splitting puffball escapes the maze and ruins my perfect game). All the other characters I wind up hammering at it over and over and over then by the time I beat it I realize I just wasted hours, and say fuck this I'm not playing this anymore.

Patchcon is just too easy, I don't even having to build my own hax team to beat Lunatic, just playing PCB team with Chens, Rans, and a handful of lvl 6 Yuyukos is enough.

It looks like a large bear will be available as a character. Shit looks awesome.

But seriously, both of them have their fun points. My main reasons for liking SWR is that characters have some consistency in their controls, and its general "feel". I still like IaMP though, just not as much.
