Music isn't something requiring your full attention to the exclusion of all else, it can easily be enjoyed while doing other things. It also does not need to be consumed in any particular order, not even by entire albums at a time. There's this great new thing called shuffling your playlist. Not to mention that most songs are generally only 3 to 4 minutes long, and if you're only consuming by the song, and not the album, it's still a minimal investment to listen and see if you like it, and want to add it to your playlist.

Thus, it strikes me as utterly absurd to create a "backlog" of things to "listen to." It's not by accident that most songs of any kind are short enough for a quick scan. A backlog of 45 minute TV shows that you don't have time to watch? Sure. A backlog of 50h+ investment vidya games you want to play? Totally understandable. But a backlog of 3 minute songs you can listen to while you drive, cook, read, work, study... I can't imagine how quickly you'd have to add to it in order to justify not just listening through it. If you've got the time to browse for a song, you've got the time to listen to it. Might as well have a backlog of pictures you want to view, at that rate.

For the above reasons, I can't imagine what kind of obligations you'd have to have in order to justify making a list of music that you'd have to wait to listen to. So it may not be a "hard" concept, but it's certainly a ridiculous one. That's just my two cents.

Are you new to Vocaloid, or maybe just haven't heard much yet? I ask this because back when I started I couldn't really feel like 95% of the popular songs, even the top of the top popular songs like Romeo and Cinderella I listened to like once and completely glossed over it.

My playlist for the first 3 or so months of listening to Vocaloid was maybe 30 songs total. Eventually though, I got tired of those and started seeking more, and expanded my taste from like the top ~5% of songs I liked, to many other songs I had previously ignored and found out were actually really good. A lot of things that can make you enjoy a Vocaloid song are only things you will notice after hearing a lot of other songs, like interesting tuning techniques, different styles/evolution from a producers' discography, etc.

In short, Vocaloid in general is a very acquired taste most of the time, and what you feel is mediocre now might turn out to be some of your favorite songs after you really get deep into Vocaloid and go back to them after some time.

Adding to that, the way I gathered those songs from my music library as I mentioned in the other post, was literally just searching up the Miku tag, dropping all the results in a folder and zipping it up. Yup, the song dump format would be an atrocious way to start with, for sure. A few really popular producers like DECO and Pinocchio-P are kind of notorious for making songs that sound similar, so if you hear 10 of those in a row for the first time they won't really sound interesting.

What I'd suggest is going to VocaDB, sorting by top scored songs with Miku, and starting there instead - there should be a good amount of those songs already in the file, even.

If costs are that much of a problem, though, I'm baffled as to why they don't fashion a digital download option for their music. Some kind of website or online portal that's English-friendly. Because at current, the only way to pick these albums up is through taobao. They need to make their music more accessible to foreign markets, which are currently untapped revenue, and that's a great way to do it at a low overhead. And if I knew a lick of Mandarin, I'd tell them as much. You'd ordinarily expect a bit better business sense from the industrious Chinese people. Getting my singing Chinese robots doesn't have to be like pulling teeth in the current year, but here we are.

I know they want to protect their work, but being so blunt and aggressive about it makes the viewers feel like they're being treated as criminals from the start.
