Okay, so: I really want a mask and I have a reasonable budget for mask+hadatai+outfit. BUT I'm finding it really hard to figure out where to get it. A lot of the good budget-level mask makers are either closed (Munimuni, Gurglelove) or really hard to figure out how to order from (Raigeki) or really ugly (I won't name names.)

What's the best mix of "can be ordered using only English", entry-level-price, and good-looking masks?

DAME seems like a decent fit; they're UK-based, have some cheap mass-produced semi-customs, and look pretty decent (sort of a successor to Charming Kitsune).

Problem is I think they're kind of caught up in some trouble with their manufacturer, so I don't really know how easy they are to order from at the moment.

Otherwise, Gurgle is gonna be opening up again after a few months once she pops her baby out.

There's also ANT, who has a taobao storefront but also accepts orders through social media DM's and paypal (including on discord; you can find 'em on the server linked above). He seems kind of backed up after a bunch of people found out he makes good masks for an incredibly good price (~$400), but what maker isn't?

If you lurk around on the server you can also try snagging secondhand masks that end up on taobao pretty frequently (usually mania MSM's and raigekis).

I know it doesn't look like much, but it's built solid. It's three cured layers of fiberglass resin and resin coating, but it weighs barely anything. I work at a movie studio prop shop and I make them there.

I just opened my storenvy today. I don't want to sound too much like a shill, but check out remykigs (dot) storenvy (etc) com if you're interested.

I'm going to make more character specific models in the future once things pick up, but for now I can at least cast the basic model pretty quickly.

Glad you like it. The eyes are a bit rough, but again it's just supposed to be a generic template shape that the buyer can shape properly to how they want. It's also available without the eye holes cut at all if that's preferred.

3D printing isn't magic, even if you did 3D print an entire life size wearable kig mask, it cost a bunch of print filament and have a rough grainy unfinished texture. It would still need to be properly sanded and finished, and in the end would be much more fragile than a real kig mask, since real masks are made from layered fiberglass resin. For all the effort a 3D printed mask would take, you'd be better off just making or buying a real one.

You should probably know that a lot of those "cheaper options" you're talking about actually are 3d printed masks - the method's pretty popular nowadays compared to traditional rotocasting, especially with Chinese makers. From what I know they aren't "much more fragile" (though they're definitely thinner), and the cost is definitely lower, so yeah, it's not as impractical as you're making it out to be.
