Guys, I've been spinning my wheels on RTK for the past 4(four) years. It's the visualizing and recalling kanji from the keywords that kills me.

What's this mean? Context is that a wolf is trying to eat a little girl but he steps in a bear trap by accident. I've asked a few natives but I think it's an idiom and they're getting stuck up on that fact and not explaining it well. The most useful information I got was that if it's written as 言ったら instead then the meaning is different, presumably because the idiom is set as kana only.

you can do literally whatever you want but if it means spending time away from actual nihongo then its probably gonna be stupid

you dont learn language doing that shit you polish it or whatever like kids who know how to talk but they have to take english in school its not to teach them english its to help them make it better

if you dont already got your functional fundamentals you aint got shit to make better

there is no naranai but the negative is a condtional or some shit to make the nakereba part work or whatever

I'm pretty sure language classes count as ``education''.

>> No.18894888

the "education" in NEET refers to being on track to get a non-vocational certification of some kind, such as a degree (vocational certifications are under "training")

I read a VN and it was great because I read 30k characters
and then I saw this image on twitter and realized I couldn't understand what it meant and i'm wondering if my reading is actually helping me learn

Step 1. Google どうにでもなる
Step 2. Look at the context and think real hard.

I'm not sure but it looks to me like she's saying the idea of using a magic stick is too weird for the kid in the first image but it kinds of works for the other characters.

>>18894974
I'm sure the reading is helping, but you probably need to expand from VNs if you want to widen your vocabulary a bit.

I didn't actually give up, I'm still looking, but I'm not sure if I should just brute force Anki some more and hope it all clicks, or try one of these weird methods to learn Kanji

>> No.18895066

VNs are actually absurdly vocabulary dense.

Fell way behind in my anki reviews because of health issues, I don't want to do all 400 of them in one setting + new cards. Is there a way to only review like ~50 a day and until I'm caught up to assign new cards?

Yes.
Review 50 cards then stop.

Just do your reps. It's not THAT much.
If you still want to do 50 review cards + new cards, you can limit it (not really recommended) or change the order (first new cards then review)
