If you needed to know ten thousand words to have a decent conversation you might be right, but you only need about three thousand or so, which is totally doable through reading and listening because the most common words are Just So Fucking Common.

Guys, I've been spinning my wheels on RTK for the past 4(four) years. It's the visualizing and recalling kanji from the keywords that kills me.
Vocabular isn't a problem for me as I have several years reading experience, but I would eventually like to be able to recognize individual kanji as I feel my grasp of the language would be incomplete without it.
Any recommendations on what to do?

Does Kanjitomo do entire sentences?
I like to include the context of new words in my anki cards (basically the sentences they were in) which is fine for hooked visual novels, but for manga that currently means typing it all up.

Capture2Text seems like it will do what I want, but Kanjitomo is the one with all the focus in the guide so just want to check before installing something.

If you read words/sentences it will happen almost instantly for common combinations like ました and for other combinations it will depend on how often you see them. It's like when you look at English you see the whole word at once instead of each letter in sequence: it will be exactly like that. But you have to actually see words for that to happen. If you just study kana itself I don't think it's possible.

No. By the time you know 2K kanji (in words) you'll be good enough to learn new kanji trivially without RTK or just use RTK's technique at the same time you're learning words. The selection is also pretty much random. It's missing a bunch of kanji you need to know and has some that I've never seen.

I'm unable to recognize what the word is when I hear them but I'm able to read the same word and recall its definition if I saw it written.
