i wrote this replying to that retard that called steel edge an 11 in the last thread before realizing it was dead

it's "12 difficult" all the way through. the ending just doesn't get drastically harder than the rest of the song

clearing steel edge doesnt mean you can nc a lot of other 12s but ncing isn't the battle, theyre literally charted bad to cuck you out of nc in the arcade and get you to pay more. a lot of people fall into this trap i think, of believing that hard 11s and all 12s exist in the same realm as low 11s and 10s which are "fair" to normal clear and where playing them well means consistently ncing.

playing steel edge well means you can play other low 12s well except for maybe their endings/hell measures

>> No.18823998

>it's "12 difficult" all the way through. the ending just doesn't get drastically harder than the rest of the song
It's almost like the entire chart is considered when given a difficulty rating, and being mad about lots of charts having harder endings doesn't change that. Using the easy parts of other 12s as a reference for what "12 difficult" means is very silly. If anything, the harder parts should be the reference. Like >>18823705 mentioned, Macuilxochitl SPA is an excellent example of a chart that's "11 difficult" the whole time. The only tricky parts of Steel Edge SPA are the backspin scratches, and those mostly exist to make it annoying to FC and hardly matter otherwise.

I don't know why people get offended over being told that their accomplishments are shit by strangers over the internet. If you're satisfied with the game telling you that you cleared a "12", then stick with that. Then again, if you weren't looking for validation, you wouldn't have posted here in the first place.

Why is KSM such a huge pile of shit?

>no hispeed locking feature
>interface is ugly and sucks to navigate compared to SDVX
>lasers are awkward and snappy, also way easier to cheese than on SDVX for no good reason
>major timing differences in the community charts
>input gate is slow as shit and can crash your client when it times out

What is this pile of shit? Wouldn't you expect an unofficial game client based off of an arcade game to have a lot useful features the original didn't, and not the other way around? What's keeping them from improving it? Autism? Is Konami breathing down their neck?

It shares a lot of the problems with KSM such as a high speed lock feature being absent and no practical fast/slow notifications. Also, there is no editor, offset needs to be change in the config manually, and there has been zero development done on it in months.

I don't get how DDR fans make a functional sim in the early 00s that can run fine on hardware that is arguably worse than Extreme. Do Nips just suck ass at making functional emulators, or are KSM and LR2 just two comically bad outliers?

but if children are running on the pads, you gotta look for their parents and get their attention, and if adults are, you can tell them to stop politely because you're trying to focus on the game, if that fails, you could try talking to r1/d&b staff and maybe get a refund on your game or get them thrown out.

You're likely not really ready for the density. If dense patterns catch you off guard and you're hitting extra hard for accuracy, you end up hurting your forearm or upper arm trying to hit hard in time for the next note. At least that was my problem going into medium 12s. I had a strict comfortable rhythm when hitting chord steams, but pattern complications would make me tense up various parts of my arm since I wasn't expecting it.

I taught myself to temporarily hit lighter on 11s and working my way back up. I definitely feel less pain now and I think my muscle memory is smarter about when I'm able to hit hard. Hope this helps.

>I'd like to think they've been holding back on content because we're getting a new version for the upcoming 20th anniversary in September
Then they've been holding back since the end of 2016. Even Museca had more songs put into the game last year and it was pretty much killed off in the Summer sans a random end of year update.

>Then they've been holding back since the end of 2016

It's not too much different compared to how they handled 2014. Back then it was the occasional crossover and HinaBitter. Now it's the occasional crossover and Tokimeki Idol.

We're 25 months into A, 2014 lasted 22 months.
Either they're purposely delaying the game, or they just don't care about the series anymore.

>> No.18885556

They don't care about the series, honestly. Their main market couldn't care less about DDR at this point and they're probably just keeping it alive to make good on whatever contracts they signed to make it available outside Asia

Only an idiot disregards BMS like this. It's the most efficient tool to improve once you can play 12s. Improving density = improving timing on less dense shit.
Accuracy comes on its own, in like half the time and effort you'd spend by autistically grinding 11s for timing, and you'll have the added bonus of not having your brain melt when playing Go Beyond. You can't train everything on IIDX alone.

You could upgrade to chink 400ppr omron clones but you need to change the IO board for that to work, short of that you can change to shitty cheap detentless mechanical encoders and cap the output for jitter, uh Bosch might make some iirc

Also copals are not that bad if you import them from jp I think it comes to roughly $40 shipped per encoder

Double digit insanes isn't high end anon.

>explain to me the BMS mains who play IIDX and get EXHC lamps on hard 12s but get like a low A
Nice cherrypicking. But anyways, it would mean they're barely good enough to EXHC them. BMS lets you improve so quickly your accuracy gets left behind for a while. Ask the same guy to play it again after a couple months when he's playing way denser shit and he'll have no problem getting a decent score on it.
Also EXHCing/FCing requires a very different kind of focus from scoring. Not many players can do both things perfectly at the same time.

Definitely this. Remember that everyone lost their fucking shit at KAC 2016 when Ace was announced because the game was assumed to be on death row by everybody and their grandma. Calling DDR a dead/dying game is Nintendoomed-tier shitposting but with none of the irony from those prophesying the end of the franchise.
