Download the Tieba and Chinese Anon packs from the mod pastebin, they've got a fuckload of individual sprites you can use.
You'll have to edit the spritesheet yourself, but it's not too hard. I use Beautify as a base for my custom spritesheet since I'm too lazy to find and edit sprites for every single NPC.

That +20% speed isn't that great compared to the beautiful and innocent smile on your little girl's face after successfully killing another ancient god with her own little hands (and her breakfasts are far more delicious that the sad taste of eternal loneliness). You can just become a servant of that crazy sadist naked goddess (Lulwy of Wind) if you want more speed (she will give you an unique speed buff action a gem that also gives another unique speed buff and a passive Speed bonus based on your Faith/Favor level, then you stack all of this with the Speed spell/potion for a sudden burst of speed).

But, if you are actually planning to go full solo because you aren't interested in pets, yeah the feat is a must have (not because it's better than pets, but because you might as well get since you don't want company in your dungeon crawling adventures). Solo play is definitively viable, it's just that pets can make things a lot easier.
That said, even as a solo character I think you should still get at least a housewife. Pets are also very useful outside of combat situations: For example, they can make breakfasts and craft miracle-tier items for free (no materials involved). You could also train a pet for combat purposes to use them on Pet Arena, or to lazily farm crafting materials in low level dungeons without worrying about direct combat (your pet can "harvest" crafting materials by killing enemies, so you can just sit on a harvesting spot and do your thing while your pet extracts materials from dead bodies).

Creating my own full-AI team right now, so that i could play Elona while playing Elonashooter.
Making setup kamikaze-proof without me having to push the button is a challenge.

I thought this was a myth, but Ehekatl herself decided to bless me with this little gift. I also got two potential potions on the same shop rank.
Also, skill bonus on living weapons is really amazing. Just 4 living levels of Cooking gave me 34 skill levels. I can't wait to find another one. Thanks to the anon that suggested it.

No clue about the weapons, but the type really should matter so long as it has good protection and attributes. Think of it like a stat stick that just buffs your defenses really damn well. Like you could use the shield tonfa for it's special attribute if you want.

Heavier weapons have stronger critical damage, but lighter weapon will help you to stay in "light weight" tier (no spell casting penalty, except for the fixed -5% from equipping a shield). This choice is mostly about your playstyle.
You shouldn't worry too much about shield types, just equip the one with the best attributes that won't affect your weight tier in a negative way (if you want to stay light weight, avoid the heavier ones like Knight and Tower until you have a nice amount of flying scrolls to magically reduce equipment weight).

Basic idea is 3 crowd control supports + damage dealer Rogue.

Main problem of full-AI team is Kamikaze waves, they have weird hitboxes and run too fast.

Important points is minimal delay for attack, and no weapons that fire off-screen like bowgun or gravity launcher - since those often make bosses bug out behind the screen border, sometimes they just stay here and shoot at you til the end of the day.
All characters have certain builtin potential for workrate/aim speed growth. with 1 per level being max. I hired several characters before getting ones with 0,7-0,9 aim speed per level.
For supports, I selected classes with cripple shot - stacking slow debuff. Paired with autoshotgun it can put to stop a group of monsters. Those classes are Sheriff, Hunter, Militia.

I stopped controlling PC character somewhere around day 30, by day 100 I stopped paying attention for emergency repair. Level 300ish Rogue still cant keep up with the waves alone with his target change speed. It will probably will take another 300 levels to change that(if ever).

I ended up writing mini guide from the notes while pondering about how to avoid getting my ass whooped by suicide mobs.

Not sure if it's the best way, but you can use oracle when doing Party Time! quests and kill the NPC with the artifact, just make sure to already have a copy of the artifact in your inventory so that it turns into stardust when you pick it up. Aim time has a hard cap, you get there at around 80-100 Base Aiming with Leadership.
Means you need at least 2 damage dealers to kill fast enough even if you always one-shot targets.

Can someone fill me in on not getting assfucked at the start? I'm somewhat new to this (though very familiar with roguelikes in general) and either I'm rolling really shitty characters or I'm just completely missing the point.

First few characters were Yerles Warriors, started getting demolished by char level 5-7, lost all gold etc.

Current char is a Juere Claymore, was doing alright but I started with a gimped health pool (33 to begin with seems like nothing), got it up to 61 by Level 7 and I just got one shot by what I assume is the boss of a Danger Level 1 beginner forest, all equipment slots filled, had something like 30/21 DV/PV. Stacking decent speed which was more than any of my other characters.

Fill all equipment slots and enhance gear to +3 at least, will maky you suffiicently tanky.

You shouldn't go dungeon diving right away. At the beginning your stats and skills are very low and almost everything will demolish you, especially magic users since their attacks ignore PV.
Stick to doing jobs in towns until you make enough money to buy yourself decent gear and a good weapon. Harvest time quests in particular are a great source of stat training and gold, but make sure to learn the Gardening skill before attempting them.
Start forging gear at blacksmiths for extra DV/PV. Trading with high-level adventurers is also a good way to obtain strong gear in the early game. Keep any scrolls of oracle you find and use them for trading purposes. Join the Fighters' Guild in Port Kapul as soon as possible, becoming a member reduces the price of forging services which is extremely useful early on.
Drink blessed potions of restore body/spirit for a semi-permanent stat boost until you die. These are easily found at most magic vendors.
Buy a few slaves from the slave trader in Derphy. Since you're playing a melee character, you should buy a ranged pet like the Yerles Machine Infantry or Wizard of Elea. Consider getting a Nurse if you're playing Elona+, as they're one of the earliest healing pets you can get.
Always keep at least one rod of teleportation in your inventory at all times. They're extremely useful for escaping from dangerous enemies.
Above all else, don't be afraid to use the wiki for information. There are a lot of things the game doesn't directly tell you about, and reading the wiki can help ease a lot of the newbie frustration.

There's more to it than just acorns though, you also get gold acorns for some decent gold, along with the odd four leaf clover, which you can eat to improve your luck. At any rate, pets are good when you train them well. And having them get all of your EXP and AP is a price to pay when you are going with a pet-centric team. You can easily train the bells or any pets with high speed ini with tag-team-meteor-void or Metal/quickling panic quests by the way.

I'll concede that non-elemental attacks kinda suck since I struggled a little bit with the lesser gods from them casting divine stream. Other than that, I don't have any issue with the low HP. I just teach them healing rain and it resolve by itself there.

Liking it so far, especially all the creative and silly shit you can do, but I'm a bit put off by the amount of grind needed to get going.
I looked toward the Overdose difficulty setting which increases experiencegain by x20 since that seems like the thing for me, but it swings too hard the other way.
Would it be possible to set that modifier to x5 instead? Been looking through the files (E+Custom 1.76) and haven't been able to find anything related to the difficulty presets.
I figure the related settings are in one of the japanese files, but I'm not exactly fluent in moonrunes, or HSP for that matter.
Anyone know how to go about this or if someone already created this type of "mod" before? I saw the Garfu Overhaul mod but instead of speeding up the grind it removes multiple mechanics altogether, which ain't what I'm looking for.

But as you get more used to the game, even in the early game you can make your potentials stay pretty high. The most important thing is to get Gene Splicing as soon as possible, so you can splice Cooking onto your little girl. Having that will help massively in keeping your potentials constantly up.

Perform for lower level audiences first, since you're more likely to earn points from them. It's not just about not getting hit by rocks, but your performance must be well above the level of the NPC for them to give you points.

Also named NPCs such as Mia will give you a bonus multiplier to the score at the end of the quest, so don't forget to prioritize them if you can manage to get points from them.

Those are huge 'real' downsides, especially in case of vendors. Gods are very useful to rush last rewards all at once as well, but its only a minor annoyance in comparison to lack of easily accessible shops.

Just fill the rest of the area with forest or something for base level and fill empty space with walls on upper floors like in shop/museum area.
You can also change some unused sprites('notes' sprites) to bird-view terrain or something and use it to fill the tiles outside of tower on elevated levels. Execution level depends on your autism/dedication, game have sufficient tools for that.
