That's the point of the series isn't it? Every heroic or influential figure can be a servant. Even Emiya is a Servant in this series.

>> No.18823654

>>18823641
Not every fictional character, every character from a non-Fate work. All they get is to be a Servant in a shitty gacha game, as if that somehow excuses TM not doing anything without Servants, or anything good in general.
Turning everything into Fate and Servants is one of the big problems of current TM.

>> No.18823677

I also find that the fundamental flaw of Kantai Collection is that everyone are boats.

They found a market niche. There's no reason to expect them to vacate it.

>> No.18823692

>>18823677
KanColle is comparable to FGO, not to TM as a whole. What they're doing is lazy and lame as fuck, and you should not excuse it, considering it throws away most of TM's appeal in the process.

>>18823692
>Also stop putting random sentences in spoilers for no particular reason.

There's a really obvious reason. The first part of my statement is tongue-in-cheek. The spoiler denotes pulling that veil back for more substantive commentary.

>> No.18823734

>>18823702
It's not like they're prohibited from working on other stuff while FGO rakes in cash, you know.
The retards who gamble in that game would continue doing so even without Nasu involved, as proven for the almost entire year where the story was only worked on by other authors. Servants are the appeal for FGO's mostly new audience, they'll keep eating it up as long as there's new Servants being added.
It's literally Nasu being lazy and trying to turn everything else into mediocre Fate shit in a format that this new audience prefers, but that completely misses the point of his old stuff.

Though I agree, it's sensible to assume nothing good will happen until at least GO part 2 ends. The years of trash will continue for a little longer.

Why is Shiki's doll arm so fucking sick, and why isn't it used more throughout the series?
Stuff like loss of limbs (and Mikiya's eye) and those kind of serious consequences are what make dark urban fantasy stories like KnK stand out a lot.

Anyone else unironically excited for the potential of good Tsukihime stuff whenever the Remake comes out?
The huge thing about the 27 DAA is that they are limited in number, unlike Servants, and they all have to be original characters rather than an interpretation of a wikipedia page. In other words, they aren't as likely to be mass produced in a mobage, but generally make for really cool bosses in games, and main/side characters and villains in novels. So if Tsukihime R is successful, they might actually have to put some effort into milking it.

Sure, they'll probably end up pandering to the newfag audience at times, but if they at least release a couple of genuinely fun games, I'll probably somewhat forgive TM for years of ruining Fate.
There's also the nightmare scenario of just giving FGO part 3 a focus on DAAs and making them playable characters there, but let's not even consider that.
And of course, no ammount of DAA milking matters as much as Tsukihime itself being good and capturing the feel of the original. But I'd still appreciate universe expansion that's actually good.

At this point I think that's impossible considering how Nasu has been handling FGO. He's always reading over the scenarios, changing, tweaking and outright rewriting content for Grand Order, if anything story side is going to be released then it's going to be going through him.

>> No.18833918

Disagree. The whole point of GO has always been to hand the franchise over to other writers so they can keep milking that shitty bloated mess.
Sure he's very hesitant to let go of it, but there's no reason to believe his involvement won't be progressively phased out (as it has been since the end of part 1).
Sure he might still supervise it like he did with Fate/Zero, but hopefully that'll be the extent of him wasting time with GO before too long. I fucking hate this state of half-assed "I will write a chapter sometimes". Either make a proper Fate project that's actually all yours, or move on to something better.

I don't really want Tsukihime to be milked, though. Maybe give me my Tsuki R, and give me my Melty HD and then fuck off please.

Frankly, though, at this point the time for Tsukihime R has past and I don't really care if they never get around to it. I stopped caring a few years ago when it was clear that their brief diversion into it was nothing but fluff. I don't really have time for a 50 hour long visual novel these days anyway, and I certainly don't care to be dicked around by Nasu's lies and indecisive nature anymore.

Because it's not finished. Last episodes delayed to summer season.
At the point where it stopped though, I would say it's an inferior re-telling of Extra's story. Nasu tried to change things up to make it interesting for old fans, but it ends up less impactful overall. Shaft visuals make it somewhat worth watching.

>>18833944
I would never forgive TM for making the Remake a mobile game, seriously. It's been repeatedly confirmed to be a VN, specifically in the style of FSN, Mahoyo and FHA, as recently last year's TM Ace. I refuse to believe otherwise at this point, it'd be the disappointment of the century if they pandered to the GOfag audience that hard.

Lostbelt is completely different story content from EoR, Nasu is most likely working on and supervising Lostbelt far more than he did with EoR. At this point I believe if he cannot finish his current projects on his schedule because he's too busy writing/supervising/correcting/playing vidya/whatever then he should get some assistance for TsukiR and Mahoyo 2/3 so they can get released sometime this century, Urobuchi, Meteor and Narita would be more than happy to work on them while the hacks like Higeshide and Sakurai can crank the Fate machine.

Visual novels are dead, mate. Especially on the PC. Most of the notable plotge writers from the 2000s era have moved on and we've had compartively far less 'big' releases in 201X. The only consistent successful titles we see these days are from the big moege companies like Yuzusoft and August. And I don't really see Nasu not pandering to the newfags since they're the majority audience now.

I'm not saying that it will be on mobile for sure, just suggesting the possibility. I'm almost positive it wilk be centered around a console release, though. And it's fairly likely they'll stick more gameplay elements into there. That is, if they want it to be successful.

Might as well make a proper action game that everyone wants to accompany the Remake, rather than butcher Tsukihime's feel and tone with shitty gameplay. Interviews about the Remake do lead me to believe that Nasu at least understands Tsukihime's appeal, and I while he is lazy, I don't think he's enough of a sellout to go THAT far.
Really, the worst thing is old fans that would still eat that up just because it's new TM content. If there was a risk of an outrage spreading over social media and ruining their reputation, I wouldn't worry about modern TM pulling that kind of shit.

When SHAFT goes full InuCurry for Nero's backstory, it's great; as is some of the stuff they do with Alice, Rani and Rin. When they try to play things straight, it's a goddamn mess since EXTRA is a shoestring plot at best.

The last mainline Tsuki related game we ever got was a fighting game. If that isn't "heavy action" then what is? Given how BlazBlue is a love letter to TM VNs and has a big fuckoff story mode, I wouldn't put it past Nasu to sneak Tsuki R into a Melty update. A lot of ArcSys fighting games now have essentially VNs tacked onto them as story modes.

Nasu isn't nothing, and Masada just likes obscure words. Late (mahoyo) Nasu is somehow easier to read than tsuki or ddd, but that's mostly because his style improved a lot, while in his early works the writing is mostly a mess. And of you want to talk about language challenges at least bring up something like Mareni or Shumon. Or Narahara. K then. Small blog incoming.
Discovered Olga here a few days ago in some doujin and something about her design and apparent character clicked just right. Granted, being an FGO is a pretty big black mark, but what the hell, I figured, let's look into her a bit.
And then the VERY FIRST THING I find is this horrific scene from the OVA of her being tossed into an artificial sun or something, screaming and pleading the whole time, in which she'll burn to death for all eternity. Never quite dead but always in agony, that sort of deal.
Well that's not okay. Must be some recourse to this, right? Dig a little more and lol no, everybody in the story gets over it immediately and it's never or rarely brought up again. That's it, moving on, let's go do whatever the fuck happens in FGO.
It hurts. It hurts. It HURTS. It hurts, a lot, far more than it probably should, knowing that this woman I'm tangentially interested in, in a game I revile, is in some unspeakable hell for the entire game and story, with no apparent hope of relief or even discussion of rescue from neither the characters or devs. I need to repeat this for emphasis, all this FGO nonsense is barely even on my radar, and it still hurts so much. It shouldn't, but it does. My heart's twisting in on itself just typing this. Is see her terrified face illuminated by the McGuffin Sphere every night. I can't stand this!

Help. A balm, a hope, a "Well if you actually played this shitty game then you'd know...," anything, I'll take whatever you can give.

Please don't misinform that anon to make them have false hopes. The lostroom is explained lazily by Nasu already, and it's a space past and futures interject. Olga's the past-like Lev, it's a dreamlike situation. Secondly:
>Then it cuts to some mysterious alien-looking thing, my pet theory being that she fused with Alaya (the globe is a miniature Alaya clone) after suffering for long enough inside it.
It doesn't cut her at all. Olga walks out like Lev, Galahad appears (who explicitly dismisses Olga's as a "nobody who couldn't even reach to their future") then lenghty infodump where the protagonist gets scolded by Galahad and falling on the sky before Roman's voice awakes him. THEN, after all this, that mysterious woman's creeping by watching before disappearing.
That alien looking woman is the enemy, she's not Alaya. She's called the "priestess of the god of another planet" and is a void/hole. She is behind Chaldea attack and to set up Ivan's fall, she gives direct orders to the three emissaries (Kotomine/Rasputin, Evil Tamamo Secretary clone, and the unknown third one who is obviously Ashiya Douman). Now she could very well be Olga if the "God" is actually her father and they are secretly evil all along and trying to destroy everyone. The Animusphere are definitely involved somehow, Marisbilly at least is guaranteed linked to all this, but she's not some benevolent helper fairy. She's using Chaldea and the Crypters alike.

It's not that she's alive, she died. Her body got blown into pieces by the bomb placed under her feet. What you saw in Fuyuki was the pseudo materialization of her soul, but she's already dead. What was tossed to the burning Chaldeas was her ghost.

Olga has several appearances: Melty Blood Nightmare Manga (AU versions, one of them is already dead too), and Case Files cameo when she was a younger child. Plus gag and chibi manga (I don't recommend the OOC Riyo stuff, but Chibichuki! is cute).

>Dig a little more and lol no, everybody in the story gets over it immediately and it's never or rarely brought up again.
That's not really true. Roman mentions he makes offerings every time he can and keeps her room clean during a holiday, he is the one who brings up Olga the most, even confronting "Lev" in the future about his actions. In Lostbelt, the protagonist and Mashu bring up her death, and this prompts them later to decide to save Gordolf (Gordes' heir, you see him as child in Apocrypha) whose cries of help were similar to Olga, but this time they turn the tide and save the new director.

Moonlight Lost Room is confusing but I think it offers closure for Olga, including about her feelings for Lev. One of the cruelest things that happened to her was making her think she was betrayed by the man she loved and trusted which wasn't true at all, so she died feeling like nobody cared about her and Chaldea was doomed. Lostroom offers some subconscious peace of mind.

>> No.18846045

To be fair, that OVA is confusing but I think it gives Olga the peace of mind she needed: to know Lev wouldn't betray her (she got to bid him, the true Lev she loved so much, farewell) and know Chaldea wouldn't fall.

Not that anon, but plenty of characters of each order die, Servant and non Servants, of course Servants are put in the gacha. Of note there are the deaths of: Siduri, Mashu (she gets better), Roman, Fou's intelligence, Lavitia, Patsy and his entire fucking world/timeline, most of Chaldea people. Apparently, if you're a good person, there are more chances to be fucked over in FGO than if you're an evil son of a bitch.

>that really takes the edge of this eternity of unrelenting agony.

From what I understood, she's not "suffering" forever, but from her perspective, her death might be an eternity. It's just weirdly translated because of Nasu stuff. But it's Nasu, sometimes he retcons the shit of everything. I don't rule out her return, but so far her death was used as "a past failure to make it right" in saving this guy from betrayal in Prologue of part 2.

Main Story Gilgamesh is a good guy and a good king (he's still an arrogant asshole but he's got his heart in the right place). He's also alive until he sacrifices himself for Uruk and your self insert. You can summon his Archer (also known as "Tyrant" younger Gilgamesh) and child version too, but those aren't relevant to the plot.

>From what I understood, she's not "suffering" forever, but from her perspective, her death might be an eternity. It's just weirdly translated because of Nasu stuff.
Well that's something, I guess.

>but so far her death was used as "a past failure to make it right" in saving this guy
He looks like a fucking rape doujin antagonist. Not exactly an even exchange, though thanks for the plot info. A callback is a good sign.

There are bad things, especially because in the beginning nobody knew how to mobage and they had a word limit so the execution of the story was kind of lacking. Eventually, this improved, and the story got wordy as fuck (right now are chapters of no nights and just block of text). The gacha and self insert blank is annoying as fuck still.

Camelot and Babylonia were written when they got their shit together. Nasu pulled off a convincing role reversal of the expected roles of "villain" and "hero" Saber and Gil got. Not with an Alter either. And did it very in character. I've complained CCC Gil was all over the place because it ignored FSN Gil and blame bullshit for the characterization change, however in Babylonia and FGO it's owed up Gil is trash in his youth, none of those half-cooked excuses Nasu tried to cover up his switch in CCC. It's rather simple here: watching his kingdom fall and all his people except his faithful Siduri abandon Uruk gave him a reality slapped and forced him to change after his journey, so the Gilgamesh Chaldea meets is one who got his Epic character development. Artoria is a version of her who instead of being allowed to rest in Avalon, due to Bedivere not returning the sword after those three atempts, became bound to the spear and eventually gained godhood. After over a thousand of years, now aged and adult, she forgot any human feeling and tries to preserve humanity in a stupid way that would make shit worse:

Plus she has reat boss themes:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YxmYtzNkj10
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1AD_2Qp3Xw

And Artoria is one of my favorite female characters Nasu wrote, and I absolutely loved her as antagonist too. Hate the dumb down, AU Lancer Artoria gacha version though.

Saber isn't the final boss, but you get to fight a version of her in Fuyuki, London, and Camelot. Camelot redeemed Cursed Hand Hassan, by the way. I know many complain about Servants and I get it but I just like how we got to know some of them in life and watch them completely different roles.

No, I get you. The fanservice and recycling of her are annoying. There was an event that parodied this too (Saber Wars). Maybe I'll watch it over Youtube or something, then. One of the most frustrating things about GO is that there's content that interests me, but it's such an awful way of distributing Nasu's writing. I did watch segments of Rome quite awhile ago and frankly it was so bad I pretty much dismissed the game altogether.

Septem is one of the worst chapters of FGO. It's one of those early segments they had a word limit and had no idea how to write in the medium. The idea of Septem isn't bad, but the execution was just awful and over the place.

Compare to this first Lostbelt:
So you'll know the writing has changed and improved. I personally find Lostbelt overall story concept less interesting than part 1, but it's better executed. I think they figured out, either by laziness (because they don't want to work on many Servants for gacha) or by trial and error, they can't bloat +twenty servants in one fucking chapter which makes half of them do fuck all. A smaller cast allows each character to shine more and get to do something of worth.

I think we're done, then.
I'm not sure if it really helped, hurt, or just prodded the ache around a bit, but it's not like I expected a "she'll be fine my dad works for Nasu" response. There's hope or the semblance of hope, and that will have to do.
Thanks for the chat and info, /tmg/. Give a shout if something comes up.

Disgusting post. Just the good old "let's excuse this whole pile of shit for a couple of pretty decent chapters!"
The entire reason why FGO sucks isn't that it's a low effort mobage that focuses on Servants while completely missing what made them cool, but that it wastes some legitimately interesting ideas from Nasu in singularities of a mostly trash game. This is a point against it, not a reason to fucking play it and encourage TM to keep doing that instead of making a good game.

>>18846559
Yeah, this. Thankfully GO's shit plot can just be ignored in the majority of timelines, and all of its good characters could technically be used in spin-offs that are more competent.
