You can use special ammo for pets using command flag menu.
If you are melee just use ranged slot for stat stick (+crit rate, vorpal or some other special effect boost) and add garrock hammer random ammo for extra crits. you dont need ranged attacks after you learn shadow step. in worst case, use living chain sickle/whip in ranged slot as a status stick, it'll allow ranged attack - useful for shining hedgehogs at least(but you can use gravity sphere/shining wave as well)

I think I'm probably going to try to figure out how to make the most out of it as a mainhand weapon and make a ranged hand stat stick out of some dagger or something, but it seems like that there aren't too many things a mainhand weapon can do exclusively, save for apply elemental damage modifiers.

I've posted some data on vorpal a few threads ago. in short, you need 5000 vorpal ench to get 100% vorpal, 1000 gives 20% vorpal and so on.
Vorpal has the strongest PV debuff so its very useful for 100% pierce weapons to get complete penetration with debuff.
Doesnt stack with Claymore's bonus. Its better to have both vorpal and crit.

Magic damage is just a bonus on top, you still cleave stuff.

Never bothered turning on that enchantment strength tweak. 100% vorpal is much harder to achieve than I would have though.

I think at the very least then I'm surely going to make a spear to level for the extra bit of piercing. Not sure about the claymore because this one ended up with Ice Bolt invoke and I wanted to use that spell in an interesting way, somehow. Probably going to throw on a lot of absolute piercing though.

Food sells at any price, and you're training cooking by making it. Just make it and sell it in a shop you set up, make sure to get a good shopkeeper.

I saw a potion of potential at 76 or 80, and I find 'em semi-reliably at around 120. Also, besides random drops, that's the only way to get seeds as far as I know.

You can also cheat and reset the god altar ground with shift-backspace to reset the 4 herb seeds from there

-Profitable cooking food - you need barbeque set and stuff for this. Vegetables are not very profitable unless its muskmelon even when cooked, better cook monster meat and high tier fish. You can make living weapon that boosts cooking by 150lv. Still its better to cook anything as long as you have spare SP, strip-mine forest dungeon and keep cooking it for training, for example.
-Potential - shops start selling after single x50 investment, at 100+ it appears quite often.

As a notable exception, ammo always provides a boost to damage of its average even though it has dice listed. So a 3d3+1 bullet always adds 3 damage.

It calculates damage with this 3d6+4 and then adds some additional variety iirc. Dont want to check the source, it may be only a defensive roll as well.
In any case, you get simple dice result which is multiplied by modifiers, then divided by % defense and if its physical attack, the defensive roll substracts some value from the remaining. Technically when you can overwhelm enemy's protection roll only in few cases then you'll get that peaked distribution as well, i think? It works like that vs metal enemies.

Karata Maneki has the unholy trinity of cResEle, cMetal, and Super Regen. Those three things create a creature that vastly reduces your damage no matter if you're a wizard or melee character. If the creature had millions of HP super regeneration could heal millions which could very well outheal the damage done to it after the bitflags do their work. So going forward those three defensive properties should be applied to create an extremely durable monster.

As for offensive properties summon monster could be powerful if it were used in the void or an awakened dungeon since monsters brought in scale to the dungeon level or floor. The brainwash ability should be used and abused. I want to turn the player's pets against their master or get the player to spend turns dealing with their pets. If no pets I want brainwash to start stripping the player of their armor to remove their resists and immunities. After that chaos/insanity attacks, meteor and status ailments can wreck havoc on a player. Ideally the boss monster would have minions that do nothing but brainwash and hex the player while the boss monster smashes the player. Silence, mist of frailness, nightmare/element scar, slow, and death song should ideally always be on the player.

Unless a monster is using a special action that allows for multi hits or some gauge attack, most have a limit of one attack. So that one attack should be amplified or at the very least made the most of. Rampage should be safe to use given the bitflags above and combined with the smash ground special action could be interesting if said monster has good attributes. I'm sure there are other particularly nasty combos out there. Shadow step used with Space Retention I think should keep the monster glued to the player. Lastly, the monster should have a special gauge attack. Something that bypasses PV, always hits, does a lot of damage, and can decap would be good I think.

I am rapidly approaching the dreaded 200th floor of the void. Another loss character with 20kHP, stats around 500 and superb resists across the board got easily killed by the absolute monstrosities in there. She would have needed much higher stats and close to class 20 resists (ranks above superb, check w/ mirror ability). Once I reach 200 the void is off limits for a long time.

You see, starting from floor 201, enemy level in the void is not just [creature level+50], but [5 x creature level+50]. If something uses summon monster and happens to summon a high level creature, after having its level+50 multiplied by five it's like fighting an inner god i.e. you're dead meat. Everything before floor 200 is fair game though, highly recommend grinding there (watch out for bomb rocks).
