Old nendos do have some sticky feel to some of their parts paint. And you could definitely break them if you apply too much force (plastic is plastic at the end of the day).

By Quadimension's own words, China's lack of blu-ray players led them to create the BD as a pure data disc so that more people could view it. What's on the disc is a subtitle file (an ASS file, my favorite), some PVs, and a big fat 7GB .mp4 video of the concert. Which I made 720p and 1080p transcodes of, and uploaded the smaller one to Mega, since I didn't anticipate people being any more than just curious about it.

All of that is on my home machine, which currently I'm away from.

So it's just a matter of creating the .torrent file and throwing it on Nyaa. That's just a couple steps in any torrent client:

- "Create torrent"
- select file/directory

Well, Miku BDMVs are readily available on nyaa. Other people did already good transcodes (like kuchirirukia, thank you if you are reading this).

Okay! I got the new springs and upgraded my Hori Future Tone Controller!

It was actually really easy once I figured it out. I know one or two of you were curious if it would work and it does and it absolutely makes a huge different. Songs that I struggled with before are so much easier now, I can do spams and triples with so little effort and I'm actually playing extreme songs now because I can keep up with the speeds without exhausting my fingers trying to brute force my way through. The reset time really matters.

So for starters I used these springs:

I'm using the 200g springs but you should get both 100g and 200g and pick which you like best.

I also got new switches:

I haven't done the switches yet so that's optional, I gotta change the connectors and since I don't want to modify it I'm going to get adapters but aside those contacts the rest of it is just drop in.

So, all you do is unscrew the bottom lid to get inside. On the base of each button you squeeze the retention clips, push them out and push the switch into the button. Once you do that, you can use the little clear tabs on the bubbles to take apart the button. Once that's done all you have to do is replace the springs and reassemble it.

I can provide pictures or help if anyone get stuck doing it but just take it slow and you'll be able to figure it out easy without breaking it.

It's a game changer if you're using on these controllers. Worth the price of the upgrade for sure.

It's such a night an day difference. 200g really give you the ability to run at high speeds and do those triples and spams without thinking too hard, just go with the rhythm.

The switches should be easy. They're a drop in part more or less. You just disconnect the old ones, pop them out, pop the new ones in and connect them. That's it.

I'm using adapters so I don't have to rewire the connectors because the new switches are a little beefy in that department, but they're very clicky compared to the FT ones. I don't have those adapters yet, so I have to wait until they get delivered and report back.

The FT controller is actually a really good base to build off it appears.

I want custom artwork now. I just have no idea how to do it.

OBS-M-1's are drop in. Just pop out the old one and pop in the new.

The only difference is the connectors, which you could splice new connectors onto the existing wires or do what I'm doing and just buying a box of adapters so it's reversible.

The ones on the new switches are about 3mm connectors, the old switches are much smaller.

Ok, so after experimenting a bit with ffmpeg and Handbrake, I found a combination on the later that works falwlessly to encode BDMVs with a very good compromise between quality and device compatibility. Encodes done this way will play effortesly in 2014 or newer TVs. PS4s, tablets and mobile phones without them catching fire.

A very good thing about Handbrake compared to ffmpeg is that passtrough of DTS, DTS-HD and original subtitles just works. ffmpeg did not downmix DTS-HD to regular DTS and subtitles were extracted with wrong timings in my first try. Probably can be fixed with the command line, but it sucks.

So, I did this:

Video tab:
- Video Encoder: H.264
- Framerate: 59.94. IMPORTANT:. I tried with "same as original" and the result was a very choppy 29.97 fps instead.
- Quality: RF 18. This works as follows: each +6 will decrease file size by half, each -6 will increase file size by double. 18 will roughly create a 15-18 GB file. As many people reported, less than 18 will make your file larger without increasing perceivable quality. 20 and 22 are also very acceptable and can cut down file size up to 9-10 GB.
- Options:
** Preset: Slow. CAREFUL! "Slower" might increase quality a tiny bit but could make the video unplayable in some devices because it uses more advanced rendering techniques. Personally I've tried both and didn't see a difference except that "slower" didn't play correctly in my TV.
** Profile: High, Level 4.0. Blurays are encoded with Level 4.1, the only difference is that 4.1 allows higher bitrates of 50 Mbps that you don't need at all. Everything higher will make you video less and less compatible with devices. 4.0 is playable in things as old as the PSVITA and quality is as good as any Bluray.

For deinterlacing the DBMV I used yadif with preset bob as suggested by >>18763534

This preset will give priorite to motion smoothness over quality, very important if you intend to have a 60 fps video, although I found the result to be of very high quality anyways.

For everything else: cropping, etc, I used the default options.

And for the audio, one of the things that were very important to me is to passthrough surround sound without doing trickeries with multichannel AACs that surely can't be compatible with my 2005 DENON amplifier.

I realised DTS-HD is not directly compatible with DTS amplifiers. Bluray players will convert DTS-HD to DTS on the fly and, apparently, Handbrake does the same. In this setup, my amplifier, compatible with regular DTS but not DTS-HD, can play track 2 perfectly.

For the Stereo signal, I just used the Apple CoreAudio encoder at 256 Kbps because it is very good, but on Windows you might prefer to do FLAC instead and use a good AAC encoder later. By the way, AAC 256 Kbps = MP3 320 Kbps, or even better.

Subtitles and chapters are both up to you. To preserve original, japanese subtitles, select the bitmap one and uncheck both Forced Only and Burned In. This will generate a PGS file compatible with almost anything that you can later get ride off or extract with MKVToolnix or similar.

I was in two minds when I saw it. For one, the new lighting looked great, the way she seemed illuminated by the lights in the room. The model is nice. More audience participation is great, as is Miku sticking around between songs.

However, the physics on her hair and clothes didn't look as good as they do in the prerendered projections. I read that the physics are simulated in real time with a physics engine, instead of animated by hand like the usual videos.

Not a vocaloidfag myself, but I will cry for totally missing out on the golden ages. The first vocaloid vid I encountered was either Popipo or World is Mine, so I quickly dismissed vocaloid as just a tool for the Japanese to meme with. Then around the time K-on was airing, I saw Fukkireta which only solidified my previous opinion. It would've been nice to witness the scene grow from the time when people made songs that tried to deliver from the vocaloid's point of view (compared to songs that talk about generic stuff and the vocaloid is just there to sing the lyrics).

Miku came out in 2007. During that time pedobear, I'mma chargin mah lazah, ragecomics (the original 4 panel format, not the derivatives), image macros (most famous being Advice Dog), desu spam, Yotsuba worship etc. were all still popular on this site.
