There are several doujinshi that portray a serious Suika. This trilogy by iyokan comes to mind, too bad it will never be translated.

I worked it out something like this: the Tengu and the Oni, after being overwhelmed by humanity's ability to overcome them with technological progress, retreated from their place in the light. The Kappa were already working to pace themselves with human technology and had not suffered as badly from the fallout; the Tengu, on the other hand, saw that humanity's capacity for collecting and utilizing information to be its best strength and became focusing on that as their strength as well.

Oniland society was slow to come to grips with its failure to keep up with humanity's form of progress. Even now, it is slow to adapt, even though it managed to gain a foothold over Tengu and Kappa societies but, based on what Suika implies, it has strayed far from what it was once like and has become intentionally reclusive.

Well, the thing with Yuyuko is that she just pretends to be completely oblivious to obvious things.

Yukari speaks cryptically or nonsensically.

In my opinion, neither Yuyuko or Yukari actually have the physical appearance of a moron. It's more or less how they speak.

Suika, on the other hand, seems to speak her mind in a pretty plain and straight-forward manner, despite being apparently drunk all the time.
