3D Otaku-related subjects such as idols are on /jp/ because the demand for them is the greatest amongst our userbase, and always has been. It's the userbase that makes the board after all, and a significant portion of /jp/ has decided that these things belong here. It has been like this since day one (actually, there was probably more 3D when this board started), and threads about these topics are the most viable here. /s/ is about "hot chicks" and /mu/ is about "real music".

A /jp3d/ wouldn't be be able to stand on its own, and since this board is meant for Japan-related flavor-of-the-month crap that doesn't deserve its own board (VN, Touhou, etc) it's not suprising that it's posted here, and belongs here.

If you allow porn that's all people will post.

Let's drop the pretenses of topicality and be honest about it. The only reason their 5 man circlejerk shit is here and not where it belongs on /s/ or /mu/ is because we have a lot less people. The Aya threads are a daily troll dose. The MM 5 man circlejerk is at least legitimate in terms of their interest.
