I'm enjoying more than eternal stalemate in 999.41. How well they use these new changes for story will determine whether the changes were good.

Bad lore can always be retconned. I've yet to see a fictional universe recover from changing itself because external pressure done by groups that in reality have only a marginal, fleeting interest and understanding of the subject. Same danger exists for all otaku entertainment mediums in the wake of 2020 olympics.

Besides what you're talking about has been a thing in geek culture for almost half a decade. I keep getting told that the hordes are going to roll over the hills and take my touhous, eromanga and so forth but it never really happens. These culture wars are over. I think that there's much bigger problems we have to deal with in otaku fandom anyway.
