Young people experimenting with music. Mostly around 16-25 years old. Of course, well stablished musicians never had an interest in VOCALOID to begin with.

Now it's a bit different, though. VOCALOID is no longer considered a "toy" and musicians of all age might consider using them even if it's for background voices and such. However I personally think the sweet spot of something "interesting" is the complete opposite: humans doing background voices for VOCALOID (PinnochioP, HarryP...). More musicians should experiment with this.

I got this felt Miku pin and took off the pin and replaced it with velcro so now I can wear Miku on my sleeve all the time.

on top of that, the cultures outside of japan have to learn to appreciate and understand the values of j pop idol culture. most western vocaloid fans don't care to treat vocaloid characters like real idols and instead treat them like a software which completely goes against everything that made vocaloid popular to begin with. There is this cultural division between japan and the rest of the world that will never be united which is what I wanted for so long. I always wanted the japanese vocaloid scene to reach out to the rest of the world like they do for the japanese fans, but they won't.

There's a reason why the Japanese version of the Magical Mirai/Snow Miku website displays more information than the english version.

I've done a research. From September 2007 to May 2009, Miku x Rin was the primary ship, accounting 99% of the explicit yuri pictures involving Miku, with only a very rare incidence of Haku and MEIKO.

However, from May 2009 onwards, Rin shipment completely disappears and gets replaced with Luka, increasing the ratio of yuri pictures almost exponentially.

I think you make some good points, though I think producing high quality music that people want to listen to is more important than figuring out idol culture. We do have this cultural difference, and it's not quite so simple as "they're trying to keep it separate." Granted, maybe if foreign companies weren't so afraid of the risk, they could have some influence on cultural values over time. The "us vs. them" mentality really doesn't help anyone. All of this combines to make these things seem "strange" or "weird" to westerners who have little to no exposure to it. And one of our cultural values, unfortunate as it is, is to turn up our noses at anything different/foreign and act like the garbage we consume on a daily basis is superior.

The other thing I take issue with, is that it seems like you talk as if the only thing to Vocaloid is Miku, and I think that attitude is just going to hurt Vocaloid as a whole. The question was about making Vocaloid popular, not trying to make the west accept Miku as an idol. Do you ever wonder what all of this really is? What are you doing this for? The albums, the merchandise, events, transport to said events. I work so hard and spend so much money on all this but what am I doing it for. "I like it"? "It makes me happy"? "It's fun"? Is any of that true? There's always a need for the next thing. Preordering the next figure, planning the next trip. It seems like an endless cycle but some day the cycle will inevitably end, and then what. What will I do when there's no next thing. For so many years now, it's been these things that I look forward to the most. What will I have to look forward to when they're gone.

If Google drive didn't have a 15GB limit, someone could create a drive and let other users join and add what they have.

Or even a google doc or sheet, where uploader can type the name of the album, and then post a mega link along with it.

There are a few options that could be easily implemented, but none of them ideal.

What MikuDB was, was perfect. Let users create an easily searchable and editable page that others could put links on. It seems crazy no one has remade it by now. 9t is close, but afaik you can't edit someone else's post and it just never really took off like MikuDB did.
