Tree of Savior was the last thing remotely worth looking into and the game is 2 years old. 3 if you count the betas, when anyone from /jp/ would have played it.

Relevant to your OP, RO is old and done and servers only gain like a week's worth of interest. It's also ruined by the company like all MMOs become eventually.

I don't want to suggest a server because there's only 2 renewal private servers that aren't 100% garbage and it's limit and nova. RO 2 (3) will be just as bad. Modern mmos are built on what makes money, not what follows old mmo game design. If it did exist, expect renewal but with shinier graphics. I should go on to say, since then they increased the difficulty of the dungeons, introduced a bunch of new weapons and unique dungeons, added in a mini game "town", had pretty much every anime crossover that happened since then in Korea come here in short order, worked a bit on older areas so you can fly in some of them(they need to finish this), revamped a lot of older systems, added in this raising minigame, made homesteads bigger if you buy some item, caused the game to go back to actually being worthwhile for players to make weapons, started adding in weapon skins, made a ton of faces and hairsyles, and even gave a portrait to the big titty elf dancer in the bard camp because she had a minor role in a minor side story.

Also this game has always been about grindy wastes of time.

I played it from EP1-3 and then on and off ever since. EP3 was already a little iffy with collection files but they've been making nothing but mistakes since ep4. Ep5 they introduced a class that is objectively better than everything else in everything as well as some stupid transformations as the main form of content that you get tired of after the first time using it.
The community being japanese and the general gameplay not being trash makes it way better than ffxiv and other trash like that though. You can make some pretty cool stuff with the character creator which is the only thing that kept me playing for the last couple years.
It's probably still fun if you're new as long as you can ignore the heroes leaving you in the dust while they complete the quests by themselves.
