Not relevant nor was that my implication. Akerou and Chuee are individuals who left people with a disastrous translation in Hoshimemo and, by their own admission, a supposedly worse one in SakuSaku (though I didn't think it was as bad as Chuee said it was ... he was probably just being bitter)

People associate those individuals with NekoNyan, and their reputation isn't exactly great. Even the Ribbit thread was going, "Oh, great. It's the guys who fucked up Hoshimemo."

Except Sekai hasn't done that for a while now. All their 18+ releases are simultaneous. Only recent exception to that is Grisaia.

>> No.18588697

Tropical Liquor has thus far peaked at 503 concurrent users, and thus far has 147 reviews. It appears like it is another significant success for a Sayori title and Sekai's best launch since Nekopara 3, although with most of the reviews thus far being in Chinese and the concurrent user count peaking in the mornings US time, it would appear that much of that success will be from the Chinese market.

Re;Lord has thus far peaked at just 8 concurrent users on Steam. There is an R18 patch available for the Steam release, so it is quite unlikely that the performance on Denpasoft is significantly better, but the title may find more success in the future once it inevitably gets added to additional platforms. Sekai labeled the title as "Re;Lord 1", so they likely have their eyes on continuing the series, although their initial Steam launch would unlikely justify continuing the series on its own. There is a market for H titles with game play on Steam, as Fallen ~Makina and the City of Ruins~ peaked at 595 concurrent users and has sold in excess of 10k copies in 2 weeks (and it has a higher price tag than Re;Lord on Steam), and off Steam has spent that entire time at number 1 on MG's store.

With regards to Denpasoft, they have fixed one of the flaws with their website presentation and now include a section with new releases at the top of their website, instead of just having them appear in a random order with the rest of their other titles. Nevertheless, they are facing a steep challenge trying to make the platform relevant, and their new initial push of releases with Girls In Glasses, Seven Days with the Ghost, and Re;Lord aren't likely to have accomplished all that much.

Creatures Romance peaked at 16 concurrent users on Steam, so as a short $2.99 meme title it does not appear to have taken off. That said, it is unlikely that Sekai put out all that much money for a title they put on sale for $2.99.

>> No.18588978

>>18588697
I assume you meant "There is not an R18 patch available".

Also, they really should fix their account page in the store already. It is like 1980 in store quality when all you can see is your order IDs and nothing else.

I picked one of the better CGs from Clannad, so it isn't really a fair comparison. But her art seems to vacillate quite a bit. For example her character sprites in Little Busters look awful and are worse than Clannad and even Air, but the ones in Rewrite look fine. Who knows.

I wonder what version of the release they'll use, though either backporting the For All People console release or cutting content from the Final Complete PC release seems the most likely result. In either case, they'll likely use the Japanese console releases as a base for how they handle the censorship if they use an R18 release as a base for the localization. Provided that there aren't technical issues, an R18 patch using either the Ixrec release or the GHS release as a base should show up shortly after the VN is released as Moenovel obviously won't release the R18 version themselves.

Moenovel has historically only announced titles within a few months before they are ready to be released, so the same is likely to hold true here. That would mean that they had both A Sky Full of Stars and Cross Channel in the pipeline in parallel for some time, and since they went after these two big titles at once it wouldn't be a surprise if they have more titles in the pipeline as well. This also obviously means that while they were created to work on Pulltop titles, they are no longer sticking to purely Pulltop releases with them picking up Cross Channel from elsewhere.

They should run a bundle for Denpasoft at some point like MG has done a few times, as that would have the added benefit of getting them emails for their mailing list.

I don't think it's a question of the ending, but of what sad events actually occur, and the sad occurrences in Clannad are sadder. Likewise in Clannad all of the sad shit actually happens and Tomoya lives through all of it for years. You continue on in the world with Nagisa dead and experience the consequences of it. In the VN the bad-end timeline is an actual ending and Tomoya only saves Nagisa in an alternate timeline, unlike in the anime (which I prefer). I think Little Busters is a better example of the ending cheapening things, since you don't ever really see the consequences of everyone dying or see Riki try to live through it in any meaningful way, they just all get saved immediately afterwards.

Talking about the Cross Channel localization, I haven't read it yet but I was wondering how hard it is to read. I have heard about Tanaka Romeo's writing being hard to translate, but from what I've heard it also looks like it's more of an issue with the way English works. I'm not too well-versed in Japanese yet, but if it's just stuff like this post describes https://frogkun.com/2016/03/28/on-romeo-tanakas-writing/ then I should be fine reading it. Koropokkur is nearing $15k after about a day, which would put it half way to its initial goal of $30k. Even with the shorten campaign period, it should relatively comfortably reach its initial goal, and there is a fair chance that it will manage to reach the $40k linux+mac+dual language support goal. However, at the moment it is showing no signs of becoming the much larger project that MangaGamer created stretch goals for, as it isn't on pace to get close to the $80k goal for full voice acting, let alone the additional stretch goals that go up through $200k. Before the Kickstarter started, Fatal Twelve had seemed like a comparative Kickstarter in terms of development, which managed to get to $50k after $19k in the first 24 hours. As a side note, the video on the Kickstarter page by Bamboo notes that MG has passed 140k registered users.

Aside from the Kickstarter itself, MangaGamer's "social media achievements" for the Kickstarter are pretty much accomplishing nothing. Near the bottom of the Kickstarter they have a bunch of goals for social media, along with unlocks after reaching 5, 10, etc, but nearly all of them are going to go unachieved. For example, they have achievements for both Facebook shares and Twitter retweets of 200, 500, 1k, and 2k, but after a day the tweet in question has 40 retweets (which could reach the first goal) and just 10 shares. The remainder of the goals (aside from one based on sheer number of backers) are generally for 4 digit increases in their subscribers/followers/etc for their various social media accounts, which also are very unlikely to happen as a direct result of the Kickstarter.

It isn't particularly surprising that Navel wanted that over the few thousand sales that MG netted them and figured the bigger mainstream company would be the better fit.

They do have the benefit though that they have Steam+Fakku+Nutaku+Jast all selling it so they aren't all that dependent on their own storefront.

Then some of my recommendations are all of SciADV and SCA-DI's VNs.
As for SciADV, first read Chaos;Head NoAH, Steins;Gate, Robotics,Notes and Chaos;Child.
NoAH is the Director's Cut of Chaos;Head and it adds 6 new routes and some major changes. Basically you are missing on the whole story by reading the base release.
Each Chaos; title has a true sequel with "Love Chu Chu" on their names, they are skippable but at least Chaos;Head LCC is recommendable (C;C LCC kinda sucks).
There's also Robotics;Notes Elite which changes a couple things from the original, has more polished models and cutscenes from the anime. It's recommendable over the base game but there's almost no change so you can read either of them. It's also quite recommendable to read Robotics;Notes/Elite only after NoAH and S;G.
Technically there's Occultic;Nine but it's not part of the same universe and it's goddamn awful. Don't read it unless you are a hardcore fan of the series.

If I may add recommendations which I haven't read yet but I've heard are plotges liked by most and quite cherished by their fans, Muramasa, Baldr Sky, Umineko, Higurashi and Fata Morgana.
I also forgot to add Clannad, it's awesome in my opinion but you must stand several dozens of hours of tedious SoL to get to the awesome parts. As much as I love it, I don't recommend if you can't deal with that.

I forgot to say, you can read Steins;Gate 0 after the original but it's trash too. You are better off watching the anime, it'll probably even be better than the VN because the latter is filled with useless red herrings, plot points that lead nowhere, horrible pacing and just plain bullshit most of the time. There's only one good chapter.

I would never recommend someone the Clannad VN unless they already watched the anime and liked it. The anime is a great adaptation, especially After Story, and IMO becomes better than the VN after a certain point. You also don't have to play the game for 80 hours to get to the best part (After Story) or deal with the VN's convoluted mechanics.

Don't get the wrong idea, I love the VN. It's just that After Story is the part of the VN that truly makes it special, and getting to that point (and the true ending) is such a long and convoluted process that I think it's better to experience the story in a more focused manner first. To play Tomoyo After you'd really only need to read Tomoyo's route, though. It doesn't have much connection to the rest of Clannad.
