/jp/ I had a vision and I KNOW why Mima isn't featured in any of the games as a boss outside of pc-98 so far.

The reason is simple, ZUN realizes her greatness and he keeps her to be the last of the last bosses that will ever appear in Touhou franchise. Incident made by her will be so great and unstoppable that even all of the girls combined won't be able to stop. And that will be reversal of time and erasure of memory that it ever happened, back to the beginning, thus the entire story will enter into a never ending loop. And the only thing that will be able to stop her will be The Hakurei God him/herself. That will be followed by a fighter or phantasmagoria like game where EVERY character from the game will be playable to ensure no girl from the series will ever be forgotten.

Actually I am not a devoted Mima fan. I simply deducted that from how much people (some more, some less) would love her to appear again in the games, be it as a boss or playable character. I don't know how ZUN would twist it plot wise for her to appear exactly, but you can't say that he doesn't see community willing for her to return at some point. If a meme fairy could appear so many times in the games and eventually be able to fight a goddess, I don't see why wouldn't Otzy do the same for actually meaningful character. It might be years from now, who knows when will Touhou officially end, maybe even ZUN himseff doesn't. But I know (and you too) that she will return sooner or later.

If Mima appears as a playable character (hue) or a boss I will probably start caring about Touhou. If a boss then preferrably an Extra boss, she deserves that much.
