The only reliable ways of doing so are by throwing soma or the gauge attack for eye special actions. Getting that much soma is out of the question and the gauge attack requires a full gauge. A drug abusing criminal shooting lasers out of their eyes is hilarious but also impractical. If you want to do it yourself you could use an omega shift core and the "abyss in the eye" special action to quickly build up your gauge. I think the health/mana steal will eventually drop off, never tried it myself at high levels.

You could just have a bunch of allies with eye of insanity. With abyss in the eye they'll gain a bunch of other bonuses. Just be warned that even after throwing 5 soma I couldn't get Urcaguary to go insane, probably extends to all unique NPCs.

You have 3 options. Use custom ai or seal magic to prevent teleportation or you could hope that a leash will bring them back into the fight. Personally I say go custom AI.

As for the sickness thing drink blessed healing potion or green tea. Green tea works really well. You could negate the effects if you have a full set of "it maintains stat" equipment. You still get sick but it won't do anything.

You can get a jewel for artifact fusion that increases spell damage, so if you farmed the Sophia quest you could potentially have a whole set that boosts your spell damage. If you find a godly/miracle weapon with very few properties you could easily get it to boost your spells much more than those artifacts.

After a bit of testing, potions are left intact on the ground with ice ball spamming when magatama is in inventory.

Getting Susamata early is the best choice I made for this save, well worth strip mining puppy cave down to the magma level.
Got lucky with vanilla rock early, and got a +throwing rock whip.

Trained my mage with susmata in ranged slot to get throwing 30 for <struck out> spact, teached it my pet and send her to train struck out and uncontroll in pet arena 1v9 for a week using susamata in ranged slot.

Boy, she clears everything on sight before i even get a chance to act now! It (probably) will be better than MA for a long time - it deals double damage of level 100 MA while being a ranged aoe attack. And since it trains tactics, i can switch to MA much easier later, if necessary.

1.16 is the last version of Elona. This was when it was abandoned by the original creator and he released the source code to the general public.
Elona+ is by another person who continued developing the game, and is now up to 1.76 (released yesterday). 1.75 was the version out in January. We've been getting about monthly/bimonthly releases lately on Elona+.
Elona+ contains all the content of Elona and then additional content. Elona+ Custom is a mod for Elona+ that adds some quality of life features and a lot of English translation for the newer content.

Ssil is the best, probably. Wangnin and other NPCs with strong heal+ball spells are very good. Exile is pretty good and trains unexpectedly fast.
Evolved Fairy is reasonably good if you teach her more spells with AP or custom AI.
In general, pretty much any pet may become a great mage if you teach it magic with Custom AI.
There are also two or three pets that could cast meteor as well but i generally dont recommend it(lol).

You could I suppose, but there's 2 main problems with this.

1) Your summons, at least by the dragon level, should be tankier than you if you are a necromancer specialist. They have higher levels and higher life stat. If you've grinded up to the point you can take more damage than them, you probably outclass them completely anyways.

2) Numbers. Although you can only run with 15 zombies,5 zombie gods at a time, you can have as many reserves as you want. Fill you DD key up with hundreds of zombies if you want, and summon an unending horde of suicide bombers. There's not much point protecting them since they just revert to a coffin with a cool-down timer.

Does using magic device and duplication for staffs, as a means of pure damage instead of things like magic dart and bolt spells works out? It seems pretty weak desu but I kinda want to roleplay like this with my character

To teach spells to your pets you need Elona Custom. Then you need to have level 50 in the spell yourself, and I believe the pet in question has a requirement too, I think they need a casting/learning skill equal to the difficulty of the spell divided by 15?

Magic dart is just the easiest spell. Before magic dart was superior because many monsters would have bad magic resistance and magic dart would level very quickly, but that's not the case now in Elona+. Buff spells are very good and you should make sure to level them because both their effectiveness and duration increase per level. Elemental spells can be quite strong as long as you level up the appropiate hex to lower enemy resistances. Lightning is in fashion now because you can use water to make enemies wet (Like with water bolt) and then they'll take extra damage from lightning. Also meteor is always a favorite.

Throwing isn't OP, no. It's gotten quite a lot of support but I don't think anyone has found a way to make it busted or top tier or anything.

Aside from anything suggested in the pastebin, there probably isn't anything people would consider necessary (Elona+ devs are trying to add in most of the really good quality of life stuff). But that's just my opinion.

Almost all the debug races are strong in one aspect but have some sort of crippling problem with them. They also lack race feats that the default races have. Certainly for roleplaying and not for powergaming since you'll spend quite a bit of time trying to fix their problems. Some more than others. That they do but I wonder if they're weak to fire and aside from the missing slots more beginning life mana and speed might sound useful but on the otherhand you'll have a tough time to getting AP which is incredibly useful. You can fix the missing slots but that will cost you life. You can fix the INI but that will cost you skills and a reduction in stats. I've been drawing for a few years, but never did pixel stuff. So I started with tiny edits and gradually expanded, every sprite done making future ones easier. Basically just try a lot of things and get familiar with a program. You can start with something as simple as just taking an existing sprite and changing its colors, copying over some accessory, or putting its hair on a different layer to play with hue settings/to swap in hair from a different sprite.

Went into Frisia's lair like this along the way and nearly got my ass handled to me.

For some reason she ignored my pussy and went straight at my ass, with her godlike 1300 speed.
Got down to -100 MP while casting healing touch. Accidentally it was leveled high enough for my pet training I could fully heal from the usual 30-40% hp each turn, and save my pets during last two rounds of battle.
After all, one shouldn't be cocky as a squishy mage even with powerful pets, getting down to 10% hp on first turn is scary.

Nah the more damage you're seeing is probably the result the ignoring of defense dice or effective defense(100% pierce) or the PV penalty for the next attack. So you'll do extra damage from absolute pierce and then a whole crap more if it crit. So the ideal is that you want both vorpal and crit.

DCSS is a popular roguelike of which the devteam started removing huge amounts of features such as enemies, races, classes, abilities, and items for ''balance'' and to ''remove bloat'' to the point of it becoming comical. That's a real crusade right there. I think E+ will never get that bad and is unbalanced by nature, considering the huge buffs to practically everything since vanilla and nerfs mostly being to things that were already breaking the game (in a good way) due to + itself.

Reading party is rarely an improvement, because it increases the turns to read; thus the chances of failure happening in the first place. It simply removes the penalty from failure and increases chances for experience.

Amusingly, it's also the main way my endgame characters read books. They get all their spell stock from scrolls of wonder and just use reading party to go through ancient books without hassle. Read 'em as you find 'em, so you don't have a huge collection to run through later.

Is there a bug that suddenly makes your pets vanish permanently? I just lost my golden knight even though they were marked as a precious ally all of a sudden when going through the void.
