Kuudere is an attempt by some to create new type of moe, based off of tsundere. Kuudere is supposed to refer to the cool/stand-offish/uninvolved dere. The fact that this sounds like a tsundere doesn't phase them. It would be like if I made up yaibaderes that refers to yanderes who kill with bladed weapons.

I remember there was some debate as to weather yandere was real sex-type classification or just slef-concious otaku trying to be "in". The fact is, yandere is now a fully qualified sex-type wich is very distinct from other sex-types.

Bullshit like kuudere and megadere should just be shot. THAT is just trying to take forced meme appraoch to moe classification.

I see kuudere as valid for being an existing concept before it was put into words. Though kuudere and tsundere has that thing in common about not being all over the protagonist, they don't seem similar at all. The kuudere meme that only 10 people know about came from a 2ch effort to make new moe types, and someone on some blog or forum tried to create new classifications based off of those 2ch creations.

My problem with them is that they are self-concious meme and terminology-spouting johnny-come-latelies trying to force it, much in the same manner they may try to force a meme.

Tsundere: Is cold, distant and/or stand-offish but then this transforms into love-stricken swooning. A kuudere is basically a tsundere except she is more reserved in her dere phase than what most tsundere characters are.

Sure signs she's a yandere:

1. Uncontrollable manic laughter, with her eyes wide open.
2. Collpases while screaming, moaning, giggling or some combination.
3. Carries around kitchen knives, saws, ice-picks and other tools around with her in public.
