I have no experience raising living weapons but I believe the damage works a bit differently than spell scaling. You may want to read the archives before you mess up your weapon. I vaguely remember a post being made about raw magic damage being good on living weapons a while back but I could be wrong.

The build is designed to give you undead far exceeding your own combat stats, that's why its so fast early game. They'll just out-level everything. Later, when high end mobs start showing up, your undead will have a hard time scaling up enough to match the random god enemies.

You can get a way to summon endgame undead-god units that scale up well enough to handle pretty much anything. But necromancy will eventually fall behind normal character building and pets. You can't even choose their equipment for example.

Anyway, if you want something to do while your undead fight, focus on bufffing/debuffing/healing. Your alchemy and magic device skill should be fairly high as a necromancer.

Does using staves screw over your melee in the long run? The game throws a huge pile of artifact staves at you early on so it's hard not to use them, but I'm worried about being screwed once those fall off and I'm looking for powerful godly/living weapons instead.

Not really, the main min-max reason people choose swords is because lightsabers have 100% pierce, but with claws/stardust most melee weapons are pretty close in terms of damage. The skills themselves are largely identical, with a few outliers such as axe giving the cut tree action.

Having said that, spears (or anything that gets enough absolute pierce, such as gloves of vesda) and lightsabers will have better damage. Since 300 of a given armor skill is enough to cut your damage by a fifth or more, armor pierce is very useful. Even if it can only cut effective defense to a third.

Elona+ adds spices to the game, salt/butter/soy sauce/etc. If you use these you can target a nearby critter such as a ranch animal. It'll improve the quality of their corpse so it can sell for more when cooked. Zero gameplay effect. Age doesn't have any effect either. Fun fact: accidentally eating or drinking cursed or bad food/potions or drinking while completely satiated causes vomiting. Vomiting causes massive weight loss. Vomit too much and your character will develop anorexia, making them unable to hold down food without vomiting even more. She doesn't have a wiki page, so here are the nudes. She keeps her innate distance attack, provoke, and dimension move after being penned. Probably emergency evasion too but who cares about that. She does kiting AI (with a seeming preference toward dimension move rather than walking away) while spamming distance attack pretty relentlessly from range, she'll alternate with her shoot weapon (seemingly randomly) if it's usable.

The downside is she's not really a loli, but that's nothing soup of wonderland can't fix.

I accepted a $ x 32 panic quest for black griffins, stupidly thinking that with high attributes and barrier I'd be invincible. The powered up muscle griffins 100 levels higher than normal surrounded me in no time and shattered the barrier like glass with ordinary physical attacks, despite my 600 speed. Quaffing blessed Jure didn't do any good, as they clawed and pounded HPs faster than I could heal. Only option was removing the prevents teleport ring I had on, hoping I didn't die, and trying to teleport the next turn. After a couple teleports my pets picked them off one by one. Besides gold the NPC gave a beer, a coffee, 6 plat and a corpse as a reward.

Bros pump your CON/Life, and equip update and craft repair your armor no matter what.

I've recently started using the AoE mining skill every time I
1) am about to proceed to the next dungeon floor, if it's a non-static dungeon
2)start a party time quest (2 or 3x to clear out walls to get more people to preach about yacatect to)

Some enemies, like cluster bomb rocks, draw shadow (counts as teleport) you into a group of them. At some point you get strong enough to survive bombs, but when you encounter them again in the void they're scary as fuck.

Also when you have a prevent teleport item on and cast teleport, the tp/animation does not go through but you still get exp for the attempt. Bind tp spell to a hotkey and hold it down, useful to get exp from it fast.

For reference I get 200,000 exp from one 4-plat spell training, but 1,000,000 (one million) from casting teleport for 10 seconds. Spell training of course is still better for your actual attributes as it trains many spells at once which all give stat exp.

As in, is she worth having as a pet?
She doesn't seem to have too many skills nor abilities in her wiki page.
Hell, she doesn't even evolve to gain any more bitflags from the look of it.
Yet the wiki still seems to sing high praises of her calling her the fucking strong.
She looks like a magic caster and even more so given she has "witch" in her title but she's geared towards physical attacks.
What's her deal?

She's slightly better than the average decent melee pet and has some extra flavor text. Keep in mind wiki pages are by default for vanilla Elona unless E+ exclusive, in which anything above Lesimas level didn't exist. So comments like that don't really apply to us anymore.

If you are the guy who was building his party, if you use her you will have 4 melee and thus one ''tank'' for every tag should you decide on a party of 8. But if you're looking for something more useful Murder Knight would be a better bet with his armour flag. You can always swap people out at the doujou later.

Been making some monster balls and this one was just there ripe for the picking.
As is, I'm one month away from the final gift of Yacatect and 2 months away from getting to Jure and finally having a healer in my party.
After that, plans go to Itzpalt and I've already been saving up staves I dont use for when I get to him for the Exile pet.
As is, my only tank is my Fire Dragon, but the rest seem to be good at killing before getting killed strat, except for the Cupid who seems to do dumb shit like not silencing when an off-screen Lich 3 shots him and his aim is still garbage.
But overall, I've yet to come across any big troubles. I just want to have an even greater death squad.

I didn't realize innate special actions interacted so smoothly with custom AI. So yes, she keeps emergency evasion as well, which she has despite preferring medium armor, and provoke which is outdated in the special actions page.

Why would a character innately have multiple copies of distant attack anyway? Some kind of AI application? It's incidentally pretty nice since it means she beats the E+C Energy system.

Multiple copies of the same ability seem to share their cooldowns, and since she has the version granted by weapons you can't teach her a second type, unfortunately. So basically if you want a distant attack spammer she needs to be on her vanilla AI, which is honestly pretty competent.

Another 50% damage at the same weight doesn't seem that tiny. Also note that the claymore had non-innate extra crit chance, that the lightsaber does not. Although this is against abyss 4k enemies, PV scaling starts diminishing hard after 100 (and effective skill caps at 300) so it's possible that lightsabers will match or surpass them a lot earlier than in the game than the setting Kai tested in.

That said it's still obnoxious either way, because both are in the same weapon class anyway, so you'll be using claymores as the strongest early/mid to train for lightsabers as the strongest mid/late melee weapon. There's no practical reason to use anything other than long swords on any melee character in any context.

That's a case of Engrish. It should say "while equipped" and not "while equipping". It basically accelerates the rate of ticks for ether disease (during both Etherwind and normal conditions). Multiple ether equipment speed up effects will stack.

Depends on what you're after, dragon scale has a nice high average of everything, and good resists. But most people prefer to specialize.

In that case ether has the highest damage, rubynus the highest hit, adamantium the highest pv, and I think dawncloth or griffonscale the highest dv. As well rubynus boosts life, dawncloth mana, ether and spiritcloth boost speed.

I actually tend to keep creating new characters, so I use all kinds of builds. I like dragon scale the best, but it does seem to be better to specialize in high pv or dv. So I don't use it much in practice, instead:

Weight:
Light. I like light weight for magic casting and carrying capacity, even if high crit rate is better with more weight. I might consider the opposite in another character that doesn't use much magic.

Weapons:
Adamantium. Ether is better, but at the moment I don't feel like fighting ether disease. I might change this later, after experimenting some.

Armor:
Normally I'm a character that dodges, so griffon scale. Right now I'm going for adamantium since I keep hearing PV is better.

I don't think it really matters so far, difference in level and skill seem to be the most important. High evasion feels like you can tackle stronger enemies when your lucky, and have to run a lot when unlucky. Where high defense feels kinda stable. Either you can handle the fight, or you can't.

I might try a pure dragon scale build in the future, just to see if specializing in dv or pv, really makes much difference.

Speaking of paper, putting paper weapons on pets seems like a huge newbie trap. Pickpocket gives pets free growth on all their potentials for each thing they kill, and it's also trained just by killing things. If you give them paper they'll suck up their potentials really quickly but they'll handicap their ability to get kills, their skill that gives them massive amounts of free potential, AND they need additional babysitting because their fighting power is gimped. Not to mention actual dungeon clearing progress and the like lost due to them taking forever to kill anything.

The only downside is you actually have to keep finding enemies but with dungeons and Summon Monsters that's hardly a problem.

You can't actually play in 1920-1080 in fullscreen right? I've tried everything I could find about resolution in pastebins and wiki but it only auto cuts it right back to 1920-868 if you try to change it with config file which appears to be the only way to force a resoultion change.
The game can't support anything higher than 868 or something? I know the top and right corners of the map are always at least half invisible by being cut out of the view.

Yeah I found that out too, I can stretch horizonal over 3 1080p screens screens but vertical is locked to 868 max, ofcourse I can stretch the game to fullscreen with default option of 1280/720 but it looks ugly and there's always a black bar on the side edges.

So I've been trying to see some stuff out with equipment and I found some fun stuff about crappy gear and how it can stealthily screw over new players.
For example if you have a perception modifier and strength of 432, you'll have a modifier of +9 perception, and -7 for -432(-49 is still shown as +1, at -50 you get +0 shown).
Stat modifiers use unit measurement in quantity of 50 with 1 being the starting counting and strength point by the way, so 500 is 11 perception and 499 is 10. Skill modifiers use 200 as unit measure for visual changes, 199 being #+ and 200 ##+(-99 is still shown as #+ and -100 as negative #-).

So technically even if you're new and you got a good set of gear that each has several skill boosting modifiers at # strength, each one of those might very well be negative as well as positive since visually there's no difference between -99 and +199 for skills or -49 and +49 for stats/attributes.
Though if an attribute boost is "It increases your Speed/Luck/ect by 0" then it's a negative between -99 and -50.

When I got to negative modifiers on equipment their strength is boosted by both being in negative and positive strength, except when in negative they get that little symbol on the left of the text, like in pic related top one is in few thousand positive points and bottom one is in few thousand negative strength modifier points.

What's an item that goes between stardust and cookers in inventory? I've wasted like 3 stardust at this point because it's right next to my barbeque.

Here's Gilphem. Free resist (if he keeps it when you pen him), uncontroll, and and draw shadow are pretty neat on a living armor, and he doesn't come slow. I have no idea if any of those things make up for not having 90 life via the lord armor evolution path, but at least his sprite is cool and he's probably better than Murder Knight.

Why doesn't buffing CON update my HP? Is there any benefit to buffing it?

Is there any way to get a natural teleport user to stop using teleport? Or are your only options to turn on custom AI or turn off their spells/special actions with leold? Teleporters seem to just get themselves killed by teleporting out of position and they suck as mounts because they waste turns trying to teleport whenever you move them into a spot they're uncomfortable with.

Not sure this would work, but at Leold you could try replacing standard attack with dart spell, then increasing frequency of ranged attack which overwrites the basic routine (which would include the teleporting). Then if given more special abilities/spells, decrease move frequency so on turns they don't move the pet picks one from those.

Presumably the same reason buffing anything else doesn't give extra HP/MP (Dev didn't want non-healing spells to grant hits or magic? Temporary hits would cause problems? Who knows). Buffing CON does give extra carry weight and makes breath stronger. The CON-boosting gem power spell grants paralysis and blind resist. The same spell also increases CHA to improve performance. No idea if there are special actions that use CON in their calculation for effect strength.

Weight no longer increases PV or directly increases damage, however it does increase critical multiplier while lowering chance (up to a limit). So for the highest possible damage you want to crit with an extremely heavy weapon. Treating you like a newbie that has just found out about this game and just asking, it's really hard to describe it in terms of comparisons to other games because the elements and implementations of the elements in the game is something a lot of people have not yet experienced.

In normal terms, its a rouguelike JRPG with a LOT of sandbox elements and a continuous dev cycle by a dedicated fan that keeps (at the very least, attempting to) improving the game.

It's what would happen if you were to imagine Morrowind as a top-down RPG, or The Bard's Tale if it had servicable combat mechanics.

Some of the biggest draws into the game is how it makes you feel like a part of the world the game makes, including things like paying taxes, visitors and benefits from the guild membership, everyone believing in their own Gods, guards hunting you down if you nuke the capital or fail to pay taxes.

It's more of an experience to play and most people's runs will be unique to them and therefore everyone has their own story to tell about the game, such as being seen by a monster that cast a spell that'd kill you in a few turns unless you killed it first only to see that it ended up killing itself, accidentally having your cooler box connect to a high rank shopkeeper's inventory and having free access to multiple palace deeds, watching two drunk Gods duking it out in your house, etc.

It's a free game and not even that big of a filesize, try it out, get your head around the mechanics and see if the experience is for you or not

Modding this game is easy as can be, you can change every single thing from UI to sprites, animations and all dialogue by simply replacing or editing images and .txt files. You can do it even with just ms paint and notepad. Play it ''vanilla'' for a while (actually E+ is already a really huge mod of vanilla Elona), look at what you want to change and then use bits and pieces of stuff from the pastebin (china pack+tieba pack) as a resource to go at it. Shack is just the cheapest way to put down a return point. and shack+stairs gives you estate+ tier storage for much cheaper and makes your endgame house that much bigger (so you never waste value by buying them). The only thing you miss out on are some vendor slots.

Cozy House and Estate are okay if you really want the extra slots, but generally speaking you should only buy stairs (or even just storage houses) if all you want is space for your hoarder tendencies. Early estate+ is questionable because if you have that kind of money to blow on property (and magic vendors to invest in) then you could be putting down money ranches and/or shops that will buy you a palace in less than a year anyway.

That symbol is a leftover from an artifact fusion system that never got implemented. There's a new artifact fusion now, but it doesn't use those symbols.

Next up, the amazing snail tourist. I've actually played a snail before, but stopped not long after reaching South Tyris. If you can get past the point where you can eliminate cleaners, snails play like any other race. This time though, I'll try to take this character straight through the post-game and hit 2000 stats. A better bet would be to get gifts from general stores or more expensively from souvenir vendors and give these to them until you reach friend rank, then giving crafted tokens of friendship to raise it higher. If it's an adventurer you can feed them after hiring or give engagement jewelry and trade for it/steal it back. Making friends with adventurers is advantageous as they will often visit you and give you stuff, or even train you.

If the formula at the bottom of the weapon stats page is true, there isn't much difference. Both do just about the same thing when they trigger, so a 100% of both would ignore the displayed defense, but not the effective defense.

Absolute Pierce also damages the enemies PV for the next hit, but I'm not sure how much. So it might do up to an additional 33% damage on the following hits, but probably not quite that much.

But seriously you seem to have gotten hit by a bug that I've never seen, you should doublecheck whether you updated properly, reload save if possible (if not on natural/loss mode) or revert to backup. You only lost some furniture, could have been worse (like a corrupted save). Always, ALWAYS back up your folder in regular intervals and save in a static location such as your house before updating. This goes for everyone, I'm backing my shit up right now.

Retention being noteworthy as it prevents teleport, gives resistance against insanity, and increases speed - which stacks with Gravity Accel AND the speed spell.
