I'm curious if ZUN is going to resume the plot thread that came up in Marisa's LoLK ending. Marisa has the true power stone responsible for the ULiL incident still. Yukari also told Marisa to cherish her relationship with Sagume.

However, we then go into a completely new plot thread with HSiFS. This time introducing Okina who is a Sage of Gensokyo. Who is also interested in Marisa.

I'm guessing a lot is going to be involving Marisa soon if only in subtle ways.

Magicians are kind of a special youkai type. They are more like taoists. But we would never know until ZUN decides to come out with this Marisa issue. Also, it's not like Marisa is a villager, she even lives on the forest were no normal human should never go, so she is a special case.

In Marisa's case it would probably be more of Reimu being disappointed in her decision rather than, you now, murder. Humans like Marisa (as well as the likes of Sakuya) are already viewed as superhumans by the average villager. A human like Marisa would hardly change the balance of Gensokyo, especially if she just becomes a youkai magician because I dont see how simply not aging or needing too eat anymore is going too cause some sort of apocalypse.

In Rinnosuke's case its exactly that though. They arent really afraid of him just a bit uneasy. We dont even know how accurate that assessment is because its how he looks at it from his perspective. Doesnt help that in general wants people to leave him alone and isnt the best socially. It also brings up the matter of someone like Keine because surely her age progression is at the very least slowed due too being part Youkai.
In general the way that the villagers handle these things has always not made a whole lot of sense. They supposedly feel uneasy when someone doesnt age but buying shit from the Kappa or being guarded by the Tengu when using the Moriya shrine ropeway is perfectly fine.
Of course, the obvious thing here is that Marisa is already viewed by the villagers as being not like them. If somehow this girl who lives in the Forest of Magic manged too find a way too not age then I dont think anyone would care too much. Also similar too Keine the fact that she has always been a defender of the village would probably make people more accepting of the idea.

Cmon anon she has way more character traits than just that, but yes it is a big one. An interesting part of her character is the subtle inner conflict she likely has about whether she wants to remain an "Ordinary Magician", or become a Youkai Magician. Either way the fact that she works hard wont change seeing as how Magicians are pretty much beings entirely devoted to magic research. Hell, thats pretty much all Patchouli does. Alice does the same thing but specifically with her dolls.

Well first off the subtlety of the panel in the OP is kinda a problem especially when reading the whole thing because its really hard too tell if this assumption was what ZUN actually intended.
And a far as I know it was brought up in PMiSS, where Akyuu writes about how Marisa may one day become a Youkai Magician. Other than possibly the panel in the OP I dont think it was ever brought up in any of the manga. As far as games are concerned they have always specifically been references too her wanting too simply become immortal, not a Youkai (with the exception of the new win quotes against her AoCF). IN, TD (I think), ULiL and AoCF are the ones I know have references too it.
Oh yeah and the first issue of SCoOW has this: "There are other magicians in Gensokyo besides Marisa: Patchouli, Alice, and Byakuren. However, they are "Magician-Species Youkai" rather than human, for they became able to sustain their life functions though their study of magic. Marisa is still just a human who can use magic for the time being, but it's possible she will head in the same direction in the future. Whatever the case may be, as the leading realist among Touhou characters, it's most likely a matter for the distant future."

My two cents in regards to Rinnosuke, is that their unease stems from not knowing where the half-human half-youkai shopkeeper sits in terms of alignment.
They know the youkai are youkai, and that humans are humans.
Rinnosuke? Born a half-human half-youkai. Probably the only one too. Unlike Keine who has shown to be very protective of humans, he's not... exactly caring, for lack of better words. So they fear he might embrace the youkai part of himself, endangering the village.

Yeah thats basically it I think. Unlike Keine or Marisa who are very well known allies of the village, Rinnosuke has always been a bit of an uncertainty largely due too his personality. This is more than likely where the unease comes from rather than just the fact he doesnt age. Oh yeah and that little fact about his age and how the villagers may be uneasy about is from a chapter in CoLA that came out over a decade ago. Not only has ZUN expanded on the village alot more over the years but things have obviously changed in universe since then as well. ZUN himself probably doenst even remember what he wrote about Rinnosuke's age.

Regarding CoLA, I'm just staying optimistic and believe that ZUN is keeping things under wraps until much later when shit really starts to go down.

In PMiSS it's said that she's basically a normal human until the full moon so she doesn't have any youkai features on her human form.

I'm inclined to believe Yukari over Kasen when this matter comes up in WaHH, since Sumireko is able to visit more or less at Kasen's request in a couple chapters and help out Reimu when she's depressed. Sumireko visiting regularly comes up in Ch 34 and 35 of WaHH. Kasen tries to play it off as just Sumireko's power but Yukari is pretty confident that Kasen is guiding her into Gensokyo. Yukari confronts her over it since it starts to result in Gensokyo humans being transported to the Outside World in Sumireko's place and Kourin willingly turns a blind eye to them meeting at his shop regularly because he doesn't want to deal with any of that shit and Sumireko keeps bringing him Outside World junk.

The solution to the Humaning Away problem seems to imply that it's entirely Sumireko's decision and power to come to Gensokyo but I'm not so sure that Kasen isn't just deflecting Yukari's accusation to cover up her movements.

Regardless of if Kasen is lying or not, she is consistently meeting with Sumireko in secret at Kourin's shop for reasons we aren't entirely privy to just yet, which is why I would give her Sumireko and Reimu to Yukari, even if Kasen is basically Reimu's mom.

Her ability is split between her human and Youkai forms and no matter how human she is when not transformed she is still a therianthrope and therefore still a Youkai. Keep in mind that PMiSS isnt a guide for every detail regarding characters and there is plenty of stuff that Akyuu is unaware of or incorrect about. Something like Keine not aging or having slowed aging is very much in the realm of possibility.

In the Tengu's case thats valid since they are mainly just acting as guards for getting people too and from the shrine. In the Kappa's case though people always buy shit from them no matter where they decide too do business. I cant think of any specific instances off hand where a human has been shown too not want to buy things from the Kappa. In fact, several of their business ventures in WaHH stirred up alot of excitement with the villagers (like with the Manzairaku).
