Always strip exif data from your photos. Portrait/landscape orientation is often stored in exif rather than actually saving the file in a portrait or landscape resolution, because faggots basically.
4chan strips the exif, files lose that orientation data and are displayed as captured, which means landscape orientation.

This was taken at nightfall, probably with slightly longer exposure, hence the blue tint.

Not really sure but there might also be some post processing applied to make the photo less dark, which would accentuate the blue further.

Nightfall isn't why it's blue. It's your camera's white balance.

You can fix this in post if you're shooting RAW, but you really should have gone for a longer exposure.

I didn't take these, so no idea about camera settings. This is probably a bit too bright though, the sun goes down behind a mountain so it gets dark fairly quickly there.

They do, but it's pretty common that if someone dies in a house the house gets demolished and a new house built, so there is greater individual turn around than in other places.
And they don't just rebuild the same house that was previously on the lot, it depends who buys it, etc.

I could go out and take some photos of blocks around here with the same design houses, but there's no real point.

Not him, but I went to Skytree once. Didn’t bring my camera though.

I found the tower itself to be pretty neat, but the view wasn’t as nice as Tokyo Tower. I mean sure, Skytree was higher and you could see farther, but it felt like you were in the clouds above the city instead of inside it like the view from Tokyo Tower gives you.

Yea, I was REALLY impressed with how Lomochrome Purple turned out. Shot it at iso 200. I wasn't expecting much from it to be honest.

that's pretty interesting. it's really far more common to inherit a house in Europe and it is passed on within the family for a long time. Houses especially on the countryside are build to last, good isolation, thick walls, sturdy roofs. Even in major cities, we still often just renovate houses that are over hundred years old instead of tearing them down. With the suburbs of Tokyo being fairly youn, it makes sense to be more lavish with real estate though.

Lomo Purple is kind of like a pallet swap but complicated.

I don't know of any other films with a similar effect, but you could try infrared film. Gets a little more complicated and development can be a pain, but it gives some neat results.

Well, there is a difference between huge skyscrapers and smaller multi-storey/multi-level buildings. When people talk of Tokyo's vertical nature, it's more in reference to all the B2-9F buildings that exist in most commercial areas. The offices, hotels and residences that make up most skyscrapers are a separate beast.

The outskirts of the city are the best. It was the best type of different, especially coming from NYC. People were friendly, it wasn't crowded and just generally really nice vibes. I actually have an a7ii for my digital camera. I love the thing. But this year I have shot more with my film cameras. If I had to chose one or the other, I'd chose my a7ii though. You can get close enough to film styling just slapping VSCO filters on or something.

The Minolta X-500 is a solid camera. Has an aperture priority mode so that all you have to do is set the aperture and focus, and it will handle to shutter speed. Pretty much every MD mount Minolta body is a good buy. You can try the X-370 too, it is missing some features of the X-500, but has everything you really need. You should be able to find a 370 under $100 with a 50mm lens and maybe even some accessories.

Check this out for a breakdown of most of the Minolta MD bodies and lenses:

Also worth taking a look at the Canon FD mount bodies, and the Pentax K1000. Oh and no matter what you get, avoid zoom lenses. Most of them weren't any good back then, only a handful are worth using.

I appreciate it, I will do some more digging.
One more question, how difficult is it for you to develop your negatives? Do you do them yourself? I live in Okinawa and I think maybe one or two places can do it from what I can tell.
I really like to hike but DSLRs can run pretty high and I'd hate to possibly damage a few thousand dollar piece of equipment so It seems vintage SLR's can give me the look and price point I'm comfortable traveling with.

Also any websites pertaining to film photography that you like would be MUCH appreciated

Developing black and white is pretty easy. There is even a mono bath that does it with just one step.

c41 is a little harder (chems are more strict with temperatures), but it is doable. Probably not best to start with.

And I am in Japan too (not Okinawa though) and there are quite a few places that develop here. Electrical stores like Yodobashi and Bic Camera, Camera shops like Camera no Naniwa and so on. There is a place you can mail your films off to get developed too, but I can’t for the life of me find the site again.
