This. Also, shit starts hitting the fan, Reisen gets bullied, Tenshi wants to destroy the world, Miko wants to kill poor people, Dream World is involved and the Perfect Possesion incident itself isn't resolved. Reimu is losing her touch.
The whole story is a wild ride, you should play it even though it is not fully translated.

>> No.18129014

A greedy real-estate developer tries to purchase the local shrine/orphanage for poor kids so she can install a strip mall.
Only through teamwork and ingenuity do Reimu, Marisa and Doremy the Horror Spawn stop them from their nefarious plans.

Any idea of why the update doesn't work ? Pic related.

You're missing the japanese language pack for windows. Install it, switch to it, then run again. Then screen shot.

Just run the "updater.exe" that comes bundled with the game. Click the middle button. No need to switch to japanese language pack.

Byakuren reveals that she blatantly lied to her followers as their 'training' is actually an excuse so that she doesn't do house chores.

>> No.18133132

>>18133074
The thing about all this stuff is that people can have more than one reason for doing something. Byakuren could make followers do chores because it builds character while being aware of how convenient it is that she doesn't have to do chores now. That convenience wouldn't change the fact that chores build character, if in fact they do. Does the dream just draw out the unspoken facets of multifaceted decision making, or does it draw out the damn truth (ex: Byakuren never cared about her followers training and just sees them as tools)?

Not only this would contradict every other canon source (mind you, I'm also talking about stuff like her UFO profile, which isn't written by her), but, most importantly, it would also mean the other dream selves are "true": in that case, Tenshi wants to destroy the world, Marisa secretly hates Reimu and Miko fucking wants to kill poor people in painful ways. Not to mention how her disciples are quite a burden, so it wouldn't be worth it.
ZUN just wanted to have a bit of fun with grotesque distorsions of the characters, that's all.

It's kind of a fun litmus test for fan works. If you characters ever match these descriptions, then you're officially out in the weeds.

The line by Marisa did strike me as a jab to those doujin where Marisa secretly despises Reimu and thinks she's the one who "deserves" to be number 1 in Gensokyo for her hard work, instead of Reimu.
>>18133368
Unsure about that, but certainly there are depictions of her as a power-hungry aristocrat whose "Harmony is to be valued" means "Do not oppose me", to quote AoCF.

The dreams just draw out suppressed thoughts but seems like they're only one aspect of the personality.

Doremy makes it pretty clear the dream selves whilst being representations of the deepest subconscious are also grossly exaggerated parodies of them because nobody can exactly control what they're dreaming.

Except Sumireko who is a exception rather than the rule.
