How many of you ARE Japanese?

Just a curiosity.

moonspeakers come in one of two categories-

1. egotistical prick asshole who thinks that they're so fucking awesome that they know more than 50 kanji

2. retarded fuckward who gets all butthurt if prick asshole tells them what the meaning of a word is, even if they don't know the definition in the first place

there's many subcategories, but everyone falls under one of the two

Full-blooded Japanese, but I don't like to bring it up here considering most of 4chan are white people. I speak fluent Japanese, however due to growing up in the states and general lack of communication in my family, I lack knowledge of many common words used in the society of Japan. although I understand just fine when watching raw animu. and I can only read/write up to katakana because I never finished Japanese school in my younger days.

Guessing here, but chances are, they don't know the real pronunciations of those words. They know that a real pronunciation exists, but if you started using it, they wouldn't relate it.
Take 'pencil' for an example. How they pronounce is really different from the original.

How are any of these tests even relevant? The JPLT isn't even a requirement any more to get into a Japanese University, and from what I understand the new test isn't even remotely as hard.

>> No.181108

>>181059
it really depends on who you are speaking to. Because there are letters missing between our alphabet (for example, there is no "sea" [si] sound) it can be bothersome. As a rule of thumb, if there person is not good at english I pronounce in japanese, even though it makes me sound odd. If they know english well, its more or less ok to speak it as you normally would.

I've met Japanese students who are pissed because they are not taught how to speak in english dialect.

>> No.181130

>>181103
For most people the tests probably serve no other purpose than a challenge - to be able to say you passed that level (that and it certainly wouldn't hurt on your resume)
Also, a lot of stuff doesn't get subbed and/or never makes it overseas - anime, manga, games, etc...
And really, it's fun...

>ITT A bunch of fucking idiots with no real reason to learn Japanese, let alone go live there. Also, fags.
>>181103
Guilty as charged. Also, we're all pretty much fags here on 4chan, in one form or another.

I've been studying Japanese for about a year now, supplementing classes with independent study out of pure interest. As much as I'd like to believe that I know the language well, the road ahead is a long one indeed.

Out of everything related to learning Japanese, in my opinion, the most difficult part is not learning Kanji. Knowing how to phrase sentences and use expressions like a native speaker is a much more difficult part to master. It's a hurdle that requires more time to overcome (and such is evident by students who are able to recognize and write kanji with ease, yet still unintentionally fall back on their native tongue's pattern of wording ideas when trying to say/write something), though memorizing about 3,000 kanji is no small task either.

>> No.181205

No point making a new thread for this, but what's the more correct way of saying Japan in Japanese, Nippon or Nihon?

>> No.181227

>>181198

maybe for some people. it becomes a lot easier to make natural sounding sentences if you hear it on a regular basis.

as for me, pronunciation is the hardest. it's not too big of a problem earlier on, but unless your pronunciation is good then japanese people won't ever take you seriously.

She's okay. She got the shape of the skirt right but its got weird detailing on it... The fishnet pun is cute but has nothing to do with default Fef so it should just be left out. The symbol is awkward and fat and that circlet is too.... Hollow? I guess. It's the one Asherbee used. And she's missing goggles. A lot could be better but I wouldn't call it a train wreck.
