I want to buy my first doll soon but I'm afraid I'll regret choosing one over the other. I've noticed that most of the outfits that catch my eye are all sold out. Is it easier to find clothing and furniture for Dollfie Dream III dolls or AZO2 dolls? Will MDD clothes fit on AZO2 or Obitsu50mm dolls and vice versa? I want my smug gothic lolita princess to have lots of fancy outfits and a nice armchair.

>Is it easier to find clothing and furniture for Dollfie Dream III dolls or AZO2 dolls?

From experience all the good stuff from Volks disappear fast if they didn't sell out at Dollpa first. Every time I check what they have in stock it always feels like I'm sorting through event scraps. Azone on the other hand has plenty of stuff and their stock at amiami/hobbysearch seem to last. Take into consideration their stuff can be considered a notch below.

That's just retail. Unless you're willing to travel or pay scalpers/shopping services then the sky's the limit.

> Will MDD clothes fit on AZO2 or Obitsu50mm dolls and vice versa?

I will say no. MDD clothes are short, and 48cm/50cm clothes are a tad big for MDD. Parabox 40cm (technically a shortened obitsu) is the closest to MDD and the fit is still off.

>>18002810
Thanks for answering. I'll probably go for an Azone doll since its so hard to get DD clothing.

Where can I find a list of skin tones for AZO2 dolls? The FAQ shows Azone Whity for skin light pink and skin cream. There is an SQ-Lab head that I want for my doll but I am not sure what skin tone to get. The SQ-Lab heads come in normal, real, and white skin tones. Would an SQ-Lab head even fit on a AZO2 body?

That's the opposite of the truth. Don't make decisions based on an anon's word, just go fucking google where to find DD or AZO2 clothing and you'll see there's next to nothing for AZO2. There are tons of online stores that make clothes that fit DDs because they're very close to a standard size (SD13). AZO2 on the other hand are not a standard size, and so your only options are usually buying Azone's clothes or sewing your own.

Since other anon is being a ass I'll help explain. This is actually a common newbie mistake. Azone has more clothing only because their sizing is more odd and they're really the only supplier of said items. Volks however is the standard for BJD sizing terms so nearly anything bought from another doll company in the general MSD 1/4 size will fit an MDD. Seriously dude, just google MSD doll clothes and see what comes up, its absurd how much there is at this point.

Are dolls good to sleep with? No i don't mean it in a sexual way, dirtying a doll's sublime beauty with your unworthy human genitals is the greatest sin.
I mean actually sleep besides or holding it, do they risk breaking or hurting you? i know some dolls have softer bodies but i'm still wary if one should ever sleep next to their doll, i like to imagine it feels very good and comfortable but i am unsure.

You should get the doll you will like, not the doll that will be convenient, or the doll that will please others.

That said, I'll echo the other comment: the clothes are not interchangeable. Obviously you can wear larger clothes on smaller dolls but they will be loose or revealing without varying degrees of modification.

Pic related, Azone 48cm/50cm dress on MDD. I needed to clinch the straps and some of the back to make it fit without losing a small degree of modesty.

I'll throw in my 2 cents even though I only really got into dolls this past summer. My girl is an Obitsu 50cm with an Angel Philia type A bust and type F lower torso and thighs. From what I've seen of the AZO2 dolls she's a bit bigger than the I bust size, bras made for AZO2 dolls are tight but they do fit her.

Finding official Azone stuff is pretty easy since both Hobby Search and Amiami have pretty good selections. However as several other anons have pointed out almost no 3rd party clothing makers make clothes for Obitsu or Azone 50cm dolls (Parabox is one of the only ones I can think of) while a lot of them make stuff that will fit DD or MDD dolls.

Also since you mention you want a goth loli style you'll probably have a hard time with an Obitsu or Azone since most of Azone's clothes tend to be a more modern style. I'm actually planing on buying my second doll soon and I've decided to go with a MDD body since I also want her to be a goth loli and the clothing selection is much better for DD and MDD dolls for that style.

In the end it's up to you but you should probably do a little more research before you make your final decision. Good luck.

>>18005934

I have to admit I don't have a complex back story or anything, the outfit was ordered as is with the patches already affixed, the M16 is a 1/3 model in metal so it's rather heavy hence the pose in the photo and she'd fall over forwards without the stand. Shorter wigs and straight wigs are pretty easy, but long wavy hair is just always a nightmare. In real life, too, if my hair is the norm.

Getting your doll's wig a tiny bit wet should help keep it together while you're trying to work with it. You can just wet your fingers and comb them through.

Those are nearly impossible to find in Japan. I visited literally ALL Volks across Japan besides Hokkaido (so that's Sendai, Utsonomiya, Akiba, Yokohama, Funabashi, Nagoya, Kyoto, Osaka, Kobe, Hiroshima and Fukuoka), none of them had it. Returned to over half of them two months ago, they had none and all sellers told us that they always get asked about that DD stand but it's never in stock.

So I ended up buying online on a third party site. I just like those stands because they're light/easy to move around and do the job for quick shots outside. Obviously inside I'd rather use better stand.

Quick photo taken today, actually used one for Sachiko. Was windy today.

>> No.18093418

Well it's a combination of several factors. First it takes long to make and it's not something you can easily duplicate (like eyes) So whether you do 1 or 10 heads, the time it'll take you is nearly proportional to the amount of heads (while a batch of 200 pairs of eyes won't take you 200 times the times you need for 1 pair).

Then you have supply and demand. People are willing to put that much into a head, so they'll sell that high. It's almost like a handmade painting, you can't just make millions of them and its price is determined mostly by what people are willing to pay rather than the amount of "effort" put toward the thing. Most heads are realistically not worth over 40K when you take the amount of man-hours in consideration (+material cost), even if you apply a high hourly rate.

In this price range (30K~) you can easily commission someone decent and have the thing you want entirely customized for a flat price.

Kagamine Rin and Freya Won still in stock on Volks Int https://www.volks.co.jp/page_ex.jsp?CONTROLID=SC0030&BUSINESSID=InitDisp&category=D02&l=02&m=02&version=en

D'Coord models are sold with painted head/body/wig/eyes/outfit on the secondhand market (Mandarake, YJA, etc) pretty frequently

A decent amount of people on DoA, DD forum, and ebay will sell their whole doll/wig/outfit/extras as a set, sometimes as a good deal sometimes overpriced if it's not all to your taste

And that's just DDs, I'm pretty sure there's similar for Azone. I see fullset still-in-box girls on Mando for like $350 all the time. You have plenty of options anon, most people just put theirs together in bits to fit their own personal preferences

For the size because they have quite a variety, if I want to go for MDD look should I go for 40cm? 45? 47?
How's the clothes comaptibily because their store is lacking in variety so I need to look for them elsewhere.

The 40cm is pretty much the same height as an MDD, but I always thought the shins on the 40cm body look really weird (too skinny and oddly shaped). I THINK most MDD clothes that are looser should fit the 40-45cm body, and Azone 48/50cm tops and some skirts should fit as well? You can compare the measurements from Parabox's website somewhere.

Also, I'm pretty sure you shouldn't bother using a proxy unless you're dying to have an item that's not available on the english website like some of their cuter wigs? Unless customs really kills you or some other reason comes up

I'm probably not the best to answer these questions since she's my only doll but I'll take a crack at them.

>How posable are obitsu joints?
She poses very well in my experience and from what I've heard Obitsu bodies have comparable if not slightly better range of motion than DDs. Some people don't really like the way the knees and elbows look on the Obitsus though.

>if I want to go for MDD look should I go for 40cm? 45? 47?
MDDs are around 43cm I think so the 45 would probably be closest.

>How's the clothes comaptibily
I'm pretty sure that the biggest difference between the regular 50cm Obitsu bodies and Parabox's shorter bodies is the length of the legs. The torso and arms are mostly the same. Not many companies make clothes for 50cm dolls besides Azone so any of their tops should fit. Pants and long dresses you would need to be careful of. As the other anon said, Parabox has the measurements for their bodies here http://parabox.jp/eng_new/obitsu/60size_chart.html so you could always compare them to see if clothes made for a different body will fit.

As for your last question I can't really help you. I live in the US and I didn't have to pay any sort of import tax or customs fees when I ordered.

How do you decide from all those wigs and eyes which to choose when make custom doll? Do you order like 5 set of eyes and then try to which will 'click' with hairstyle and doll's character? Every time I look at diffirent cute as heck photo I just though about making copy and that just doesn't feel right.
Is the eye change hard, can you accidently damage the head?
What's the basic sprays or things that are must-have to stylize the hair so wigs is smooth and don't look like dry bunch of grass?
What's are the other things that's good to have except obvious like doll stand or different hands?
When creating a doll do you tend to create one specifed character or do you change their wigs/eyes to make "someone else"? I would probably feel bad about it but I'm curious about yours point of view.
How do you cope with family's opionion, because well, it's not a usual hobby for guy in his late twenties.

>is changing eyes hard
Eyes are just plastic/glass semicircles that are held in place by a soft putty, you can even use silicone ear plugs from CVS, there's 0% chance of damaging the head from frequent eye adjustment
>how do you pick what to do
for me, there's been two main types of girls like you said: 1) based on existing character 2) just make a girl you like. 1 is obviously easier to nail down as a concept, you might buy a wig/eyes and find they're not exactly right at first but usually one or two tries will get you where you planned to be.

2, just kind of buying a pretty doll and winging it from there, is a lot riskier insofar as you might wind up super disillusioned at first. "Oh, I just kind of bought wigs and eyes I liked without having a concept, and now this doll is just a doll wearing things instead of a character I can connect with." Whether or not you finagle with it until the doll becomes a girl you like or just a failed experiment is gonna vary, but honestly don't be afraid to mess up a few times before you get it right. You gotta mess up once or twice at everything before you figure out what you're doing, dolls are no different

I actually DO have a stockpile of wigs and eyes. I actually make and sell those items, though, so I'll keep the B-grades for myself. I like the customizing aspect a lot, and whenever I get bored of how one of my girls looks, I just give her new hair/eyes and it's just like getting a whole new doll. If you're a fickle person, I recommend this option.

>What's are the other things that's good to have except obvious like doll stand or different hands?
My doll care kit includes: tiny screwdrivers (phone or eyeglass screwdriver kits from Daiso will do you just fine), magic eraser (to remove stains), a fuckton of putty (holds eyes in place), silicone wig caps (keeps wigs in place).

If your family is the kind to shit on your hobbies then just don't mention it. Don't see the point of creating a conflict for no reason. I'm 30+, I bring my dolls with me when I return visit my parents and they don't care. They were just a bit curious at first. My mom actually loves it and I'm trying to get her to sew me some stuff for my girls since she's bored.

>Wigs/Eyes

I own a bunch and just decide whenever I get a new doll what would be the best. Then I don't change it anymore if I like the way she is. I just can't be bothered to change wigs/eyes constantly.

>What's are the other things that's good to have except obvious like doll stand or different hands?

I always have my hair detangler whenever I move my doll around. Can't live without it. More important than having extra hands and what not especially if you cannot hand carry your doll everywhere you go and have to put her in a bag at some point during the day, if she has long hair the wig will be all over the place.

Right one is fine, but yeah Left one needs re-aligning. Just fixed it. Hadn't touched her eyes since I got her, it's been over a year now and she literally traveled the world with me hence why eyes most likely moved. I don't even pay attention anymore because it most likely happened slightly over time and I have her with me daily (even at work).

It's more the opposite. When you look at something closely on a daily basis you don't realize those it until someone tells you. I just looked back at old photos from September and left eye were almost in the same position and nobody ever noticed.

Those things are bound to happen anyway when you move your doll around a whole lot. Still better than leaving your doll home on her own the whole day and never taking her with you whenever you leave your house. Mine has seen the world even if it means getting a bit dirty and having to reset eyes.

Bought it from AmiAmi, but it seems to be sold out now. Maybe you can still get it on other sites.

Seems like all colours of the new cat ear hoodie are in stock, though. Just keep in mind they really only comfortably fit S and SS busts.

The hood does sort of fit over DD heads but it's pretty small. Don't mind the weird pose. I had to separate them to put the hood up and now Aya's wig is a giant mess so I didn't put them back together.

I've ordered all the parts for my first doll and I'm so excited. What should I do in the meantime while I wait for her to arrive?

So I have a question, It seems that I have some kind of black on my doll's nose? I don't think its a stain since nothing has really been on her face. Its probably some dirt or grime or something? Its hard to see and really only visible in brighter light but it bothers me. What are some suggestions to remove this blemish without damaging the face up?

What I do is stare at dolls on twitter and check the tracking obsessively, even when I know it won't be here until at least the end of next week.

I stare at dolls on twitter all day every day, though.

Do you have faceup on the nose? If not, just slightly brush it with a clean dry cotton makeup remover, if it's just a bit of dirt it'll be gone. It's way safer that way than to try to apply any kind of product on the nose.
