Don't BD releases often have official Japanese subtitles? I understand a lot more if I can read what is being said while watching anime and that is honestly how I learned English as well. Can anyone point me to some BD rips of interesting stuff with Japanese subtitles? The stuff on Kitsunekko isn't too good because most of the time you need to time everything yourself. It'd be better to just know what video file it is correctly timed for so I can just download the right thing.

Depends on how many greens you start with, I don't think you understand anki very well.

You shouldn't spend longer than 20 seconds trying to recall a card each time you see it, probably preferably less.
Try to keep your retention rate above 70, write down words you have a hard time remembering.

It gets easier over time but it's tough at first. When I started, anki took me about 30-40 minutes, including writing down new words at least once. Now I can do it in 15-20 mins

The Spice and Wolf OP caught my interest so I took a look around. I don't actually visit DJT anymore - it's been close to two years since I've last been here, aside from being linked here for memes by a friend. When you get really good at JP you can answer pretty much every question people ask here, so staying on DJT is pretty miserable, you've either gotta ignore every question or spend a ton of time answering beginner questions over and over. Not to mention giving sage life advice to people struggling and making mistakes with their learning process.

Also, once you "finish" learning Japanese so to speak, the necessity to center your life around Japanese fades greatly. It's not like I wake up and go "i'm gonna practice JP by reading a full novel today", I just read the novel cause I want to. The fact it's a JP novel is just coincidental. At this point, knowing Japanese is just a part of me and doesn't really directly factor into my decisions. If I wanted to shitpost on DJT all day I would do so without thinking "damn I learned Japanese to do this?", just like you shitpost on DJT without thinking "damn I learned English as a baby to do this?".

You mostly seem to be a little confused on what が does. が marks the subject of the sentence. The subject is the thing *doing* the verb in a sentence. (except in passive sentences where が marks the object, the thing being done to).

So when you write 私はそれが見つける you are marking それ as the subject of the sentence. That doesn't make sense the swords cant find anything, being swords and all. I think what you meant was 私はそれを見つける, the を marks それ as and object, meaning that is the thing to be found. 私 is implicitly the subject of the sentence.

Then you marked 「私はそれが見つける」with が, again, it doesn't make much sense for a quotation to be speaking, I think the quotation particle と would be the correct thing to put here. As for 言お, I'm not really sure what this is, I can't say for sure it is wrong... but I think you meant 言った.

For "それ英雄", this should be その英雄, それ would be "that" in of itself, その is sort of like それの.

死ぬれる is spelled 死なれる, and I'm not sure you are using the passive correctly here. Someone else will have to comment on that, I can typically read those types of sentences but I don't really know the rules well enough to say what is definitively allowed or not. Based on my understanding I'd probably write "その英雄に死なれる" which would mean (I think) "that hero will die on us".

This fear is a little unrealistic, but it's also true that you have no guarantee that the sentence you found the word in is using it correctly. Natives make mistakes too.

It only took them so many years because they do rote learning. The pace of grade school kanji and even secondary school kanji is slow. It is not at all uncommon for Japanese learners to cover jouyou kanji in a year, or maybe two, or with isolated study in under 6 months.
