Totono -> Saria -> Leora = Zenobia -> Lei-Mei -> Itsuki -> Kasumi -> Ralph = Helmine -> Vivian -> Seria -> others

That's a rough idea. Totono is first priority for being the best UP ramp in the game aside from Altair. Saria is one of the best area healers, and thus quite worthy as a second priority. Leora and Zen depend upon whether you have another VT/Soldier raised, and which one(s). Lei-Mei is permanent true damage with lots of range. Itsuki is a very capable supertank whose SAW allows her to heal herself while attacking - very, very helpful for tanking big damage. Kasumi gets stealth during skill use, which is very nice for an infinite SAW. Ralph and Helmine are good for different reasons, but his range and her utility can be quite nice when you want siege sniping/big number damage with a little splash or huge regen/a mapwide defense debuff. Vivian is a Dancer, so she isn't a huge necessity, but she's one of the best of her class and can prove valuable at times. AW Seria gives a drop rate boost to fairies - she could be a higher priority depending upon how much you farm dailies. The rest are okay, but I wouldn't rush to raise them like the others.

It took me a couple hours worth of attempts to beat it with this team. I needed to get really lucky with my dodge/guts procs to get through it. Eventually Yamabuki finally worked and carried the final team for me.
As far as I know, the strategy is to get dodge/guts rainbows and give them provocation, and to keep rolling through it until you eventually brute force it. Damage reduction gives them a bigger safety net for when they don't dodge, while attack boosting abilities are important to actually finish the job. It's a stupid difficult map, for sure.

Depends upon how badly you're thirsting for a durable blocker who can moonlight as a supertank. Saki is the meat grinder of the two, while Nagi is the punching bag. Her skills are a perfect fit for Jiraiya, and give her great sturdiness in exchange for lower DPS and lower attack range than her peer. Jiraiya Nagi can go mano-a-mano with golems for 30/45 seconds and live to talk about it, which is pretty hilarious considering her class. I ponied up to perfect both of them, and I wouldn't try and cram one into the same role as other. If you really want cheap, long ranged DPS which can't be engaged by melee enemies, Saki would be more appropriate. Nagi's not really a Ninja, in the traditional sense. She's still handy for mowing the grass when you need it, but she doesn't have a triple target, lightning fast SAW with 312 range and a 5% assassination proc.

She may be a joke as a unit, but she'll always be best girl by virtue of being the most devoted to Princely. The sweetheart didn't save herself because she had to, she did it because she wanted to give everything she could to the guy she loves. That kind of commitment is 0-diamonds, without fail. The closest analogue, I think, is Nagi. She starts off with the ostensible motive of serving Princely as a proper ninja would, but that illusion flies out the window faster than you can say "Would you please let me serve you like that again?" Goofy word choices in the script notwithstanding (melted cheese sandwich in a buttered griddle?), that shit was hot. There are so many garbage h-scenes in this game, it's nice to find some where Princely isn't a huge asshole and there's an honest attempt at giving some actual weight to the act. Yeah, yeah, "It's fucking porn, you retard." Poor writing is poor writing, pornographic backdrop or no. At least the all-ages version depicts Princely more consistently by far, which I suppose is the compromise that they've decided to make to satisfy as many parties as possible.

But how can you even build a viable youkai themed team? All them are extremely specialized and have high cost.

To start with, that team lacks defense penetration. WE's skill is single use, and Druids are pants for offense. Consistent ranged damage is lacking, as is raw range - Georg is the longest at 300, and he's not exactly DPS material. There's only one ramp present, and she's nowhere near good enough to support such a high average cost. You have a lot of defensive power to play with, which is good. On the flipside, offensive power is concentrated almost entirely on close/melee range, and those units which do put out good damage at range are gated by their skills - WE, Georg, and Viola get one use per sortie, and Sieg is a middling duelist when on cooldown. Wurm is expensive as hell for only providing 10 seconds of null, and Motley is a novelty unit who isn't going to do much without planning strategies around her. Lucia and Elias aren't going to have an easy time covering your whole team and still keeping your tanks topped against big bads, because their range is shit. Lastly, only four of your girls are going to prioritize flying enemies, and only one of them is going to be able to offer good coverage.

Youkai often have abilities that buff other Youkai units. They also have high base stats, so if you stack up plenty of buffing effects you can have Ramii or Fuuko solo the entire map for you with like 4k attack.
As for cost, you're opening with tacticians, youko, tengu, so its doable. My Altia certainly helps a lot with that

The only ramps I would ever run solo are her or Totono/Diera, and the anon you're advising isn't running any of them. No way is a team with three 40+ cost units doable without the best gacha ramps.

If you're not planning on spending massive amounts of money on the game, spend 50 gems at a time on the premium gacha for maximum efficiency. Occasionally expand your character inventory when you get too close to being totally full even after selling all of your fodder 2-3* (later 2-4*) units. Equipment expansion is only worth it much later on. Don't spend your gems on anything else - using it to refill stamina is only worth it if you're not going to be able to complete an event/important daily without it and refreshing raid orbs is a stupid idea no matter what.

If you're planning on whaling out and spending thousands of dollars, then you'll probably want to spend the majority of your gems on stamina refills and character expansions instead because you'll be rolling in units in short order.

AW prince with skill active is one of the best, if not the best tank in the game for those 30 seconds.

You're not losing anything if you havent gotten AW prince. Its a free AW unit for minimal work, the only bad thing about him is 30 cost.

Is there any reason to rush awakened units to max level when I can 2AW them at any point?
