Until Cosmic Explorer, one could see the music evolving and growing alongside the girls:

Hey, I'll admit, I think i"ll always love their first 3 albums best. Yes, maybe it's the nostalgia effect since i've been adamant of them since Computer City. Also because it is always hard to top the effect when you hear something fresh and exciting the first time you hear a new thing at a specific time in your life. I've been on a bit of a Perfume hiatus since after JPN released (mind you i still own most the albums, singles and live dvds). Their singles started to seem like a compilation of songs focused on the melodies they did for product commercials which leaked into their lyrics, it put me off a bit. I overlooked Cosmic Explorer at first but have since found some really catchy gems in that album. And watching the Fusion livestream has relapsed me back into my old Perfume obsession and also re-sparked my faith in Nakatas work. My mind exploded seeing my favourite girls dance live to a song sounding similar to a Gesaffelstien track! I would love to see more of that kind of thing from them in the future.

Cosmic Explorer is a really bad album by Perfume standards. The whole space theme was obviously a last-minute idea, and not even the album-mixes could make the singles sound fresh. The track order is the worst out of all Perfume albums as well. the latter half is an absolute slog, and it reduces the impact of the better songs. It is certainly a good J-pop album, but it definitely isn't that good enough for a Perfume album.
