at the r1s nearby we have tune street and sengoku and I was bummed we don't have an HD cab but I guess were lucky to have what we do

there's really no HD popn in USA outside of private collections because the old cabs they replaced are now in USA while the new cabs are only in Japan. we need to wait, basically. I asked someone in-the-know at r1 and they said the game actually gets more play than you would think and they are debating upgrading to the modern popns so there is hope.

Licht uses heavy to practice for KAC, right now he is running 100/100 to be ready for it.

Dolce's preference seems to be 25/60, U*TAKA's cab has 50/20, M!TSBA has 50/40. Though 1048 is the exception in that he prefers 50/100, though he doesn't seem to play that much anymore.

Where as MACAOD who is a korean ranker really good at jacks plays on like 25/35 on custom springs and hits really hard, so definitely can hit hard on light too.

Depends, if you are like clearing 11s at least then you should go play a lot of 7s-9s that are based on 8th notes since you need to be good at timing those to have a timing base.
After that play stuff with simple 16ths and etc. and continue playing like 10s and easy 11s for timing. That should give you a good base for timing.
After you have timing down for 8ths and streaming then you can probably figure out yourself what to do next.

If you can't AAA 7s-9s though maybe then play like 4s-6s, any lower than that is probably a waste of time though for practice purposes.
https://djrea.blogspot.fi/2012/11/songs-to-practice.html songs listed here in "Timing" section are all good practice though if you can't figure out yourself what songs have a lot of 8ths and such.

Good job posting a video that you don't even understand, and neither does the uploader. That anti-spam thing doesn't work well solely because of how OD works in this game, which is that, first off all, you can adjust its difficulty rather than having rougher hard-coded difficulties (normal timing, hard timing). It is also less punishing on poor timing, which means that you can't break combo as easily. That, however, does not mean that you can faceroll your keyboard and get pgreats, it also doesn't fly at all on harder, and more dense charts.

>+ no keysounded charts
Factually wrong.

>+ auto converts
What kind of fucking stupid argument is that? Not only are auto-converts completely optional, there also more than enough (and to some extent, good) original charts solely for osu!mania.

>+ broken score system
If you're talking about osu's score system, you've really gone full retard. If it's about how pgreats are handled, then okay, we have this minor little thing. Really ruins the game, am I right.

>+ ranking system
It's far from perfect, but it's a good attempt at measuring difficulty in some way. Hardly any other rhythm games even attempt it. See Konami's attempts at assigning difficulties to their charts, it's fucking awful and it has always been.

I picked up a taiko controller from china today. One tap in, I knew I'd made a huge mistake.

It's funny, they copied the main design, and it even looks like they used pressure sensors around the edge, but then they cheaped out and used a couple of those shitty rubber membranes balanced under a chunk of plastic for the actual surface. Sure, it was only 30 bucks, but I was expecting something a little better for the money.

So I picked up the PS4 one instead. They're a little cheaper now, 90 bucks isn't that terrible. Shame I'm still going to have to mod the fuck out of it, but at least it's native USB, right?

My problem with the ranking system is that because of how it works it'll encourage people to play and choose charts for their rank rather than for having fun, that's why it's a bad thing.

No, it isn't. You're building early muscle memory and there's hardly any room for bad habits. If that somehow results in you being permanently rendered incapable of looking for proper charts, I don't know what person you have to be.

>A good chart isn't just notes at the right time

Now this one really baffles me. I'm not sure if you're just grasping at straws or are legitimately unaware how nonsensical this sounds. If you're finding ways to play games that aren't fun for you at all, there's something wrong with you, not the game.

It's not very challenging. Clearing songs takes no effort and it has really lenient timing windows. It has a few unique gimmicks but they are not interesting enough to make the game stand out like SDVX's knobs, GitaDora and DDRs self-explanatory attributes, RB being touchscreen, etc. I feel like the spinners are overused, despite not being used to their full potential (very little consecutive spin objects on the same button unless they're directed in a specific direction), while the pedal is very underutilized outside of a very select few charts like Invitation from Mr.C. The buttons feel weird to push due to their flatness and don't offer the same satisfying feedback compared to pop'n or IIDX, but that could've been easily overcome if the charting was better. There are very few iconic charts that you remember even after weeks of playing them, and those moments are monopolized by patterns that were annoying as fuck (see any chart that spams direction-specific spinners a la Redshift. For those that never played this game, imagine if IIDX had charts that made you spin the turntable CW or CCW. It's THAT obnoxious). The game relies mostly on being pushed as a sister series of SDVX. While it had more effort put into making a marketing push for it than Beatstream, they never recovered from its initial launch.

Museca had a lot of ideas that could've been explored and there's still room for several quality-of-life modifications. Cross promotions with other Bemani games could've netted a handful of fans who previously had no intention of ever playing the game.

>> No.17975262

>>17975210
Continued.

A third inbetween timing judgement would've worked out fine since holds don't continuously contribute to combo and make scoring feel more satisfying. Many of the Graphica missions use the same songs so when I was going through the missions I would FREQUENTLY play the same song twice on the same credit, and still see them pop up later on, and the UI should let you view more than one mission at a time because looking through what you have or have not cleared takes fucking forever and you still need to choose the mission to see the song, difficulty level, and draw power recommendation. Museca also needed Rivals. Premium Friday's were a mess, limited time events were announced to suddenly and gave you too little time to participate (while this is definitely more critical to American players, Japanese players who might be in the middle of a really busty time are also left out in the cold) and reviving New Generation songs for a temporary amount of time instead of making them available by default comes off as a total dick move since Museca doesn't really have an unlock system other than "play X amount of time between so-and-so and blahblahblah" and buying other difficulties for songs and purchasing EXH charts of certain songs in SDVX.

>> No.17975389

>>17975210
i wish museca had less use of the spinners. so many charts would be more fun if they just didn't make you spin the buttons so much. it's physically uncomfortable and doesn't add much. i also don't know why the fuck they don't port scratch songs from iidx and have you using various spinners like turntables there's so much potential there

i also wish they'd cross more bemani music and make holds feel better/use them less.

other than Touch My Body and Brainpower i haven't had "wow that was awesome" moments with the game

Playing alone is just fine if you're going into a practice session, but you got to have somebody besides yourself to compare scores with in person.
